I imported mine from South Africa. A true Boerboel. Won't be shocked if 10 years from now there are breeders in the US selling 6 inch tall, merle/Rotty colored "Boerboels" that can barely breath and sell them as "mega dupa supa" rare. Clowns.

So much exaggeration from someone who's never been to SA, classic American. Using stories that aren't even about South African breeders, showing images of dogs cramped up in cages that are not taken in South Africa but pulled from documentaries about what's happening in Asia. I just subscribed today because I just got my second Boerboel and stumbled on your account, was all going well until I saw this video. Visit South Africa before you start talking about its conditions and handling of animals, we take great pride in the breed of Boerboels. Every place has scams, but you're making it seem as if SA has a huge dog scam, do you know how many people here have tried getting American breeds and getting scammed? All the research and documentaries point to the USA, UK and Nigeria to scamming on puppie for sale. Not SA, not 1 documentary even mentioned it as a hotspot. I'm Unsubscribing.

Not true, you bought from the wrong people, do your research before buying pups, I'm from South Africa, I don't own boerboels but I know registered boerboels breeders over here, they legit and have beautiful kennel setups on their farms, and professional handlers

i agree with you but this is a possiblity with any import from any country so it could happen to me imported a dog from the usa. also i still believe if you have done the correct research you wont get a better boerboel than one from a proper breeder in south africa. i seen the USA boerboels and they not the same as our dogs they to big some have loose skin theres a lot of these black dogs. so i would never buy a dog from the usa. a major red flag for me is a breeder who has black dogs yes they look great but i grew up around these dogs and i had never seen or heard of a black boerboel till about 2003 or 2004 then these dogs started popping up ive spoken to old breeders who have since past advocates for the breed people who grew up on farms and most of them said they have never seen a black dog in the boerboels so where did they come from? this is probably the biggest scam thst someone cross bred a black dog like a cane corso or great dane with a boerboel and sold it to the world for profits. if you can get your hands on a original breed standard for boerboels you will find most usa dogs dont meet the criteria because they bred for size they must be huge or they bred for colour. in another 10 years you will struggle to find a brown or fawn boerboel in the usa because of the dominant black gene which probably came from another breed and who knows what else came with it. so as soon as i see a breeder who has black dogs i already know this person probably didnt do enough research on the breeds heritage or the breeds history and yes you may love the breed and be doing great work in producing great dogs but they only boerboel by name not by linage. if you had seen the dogs i grew up with in the 80s and early 90s these were not huge dogs like today they were big they were strong and they were athletic. life expectancy on these dogs 10 t0 13 years now its a lot less because some of these dogs are bigger than great danes. i recommend people do their research before buying a pup to make sure the breeder is legit but even in south africa im struggling to find the real boerboel.
