In a realistic world outside Haikyuu, Oikawa is definitely one of the most relatable characters, as he display such complex character, which you guys can see for yourselves in the upcoming seasons.

and that's why so many people are hating on him, cause they only want to see perfect and pure characters that are completely out of this world and unrealistic (like most shonen mc's), they forget that he's literally a hella competitive teenager who's been working his ass off and fighting with geniuses the whole time even though he knew he ain't one and all the losses made him who he trully is, oikawa is like an iceberg and his goofy and sarcastic face that he shows off most of the time is simply the tip of it, which he gets judged from unfortunately, the whole complexity and a ton of things i relate to makes him my fav, probably not only in haikyuu

When he says that he believe in them he means it BUT that also means that he expect their best (because he know how good they are) hence the "threat" but its more that through his expectations his team rises to the plate. at least that how i read it

As a certain someone mentioned, Oikawa is a setter who caters to his team and their playstyle by bringing out the best in them. Which is why he favors Oikawa as a setter compared to Kageyama.

This is a comment in the last episode of haikyuu, episode 18, i don’t know if you’ve seen it so Im just gonna comment it here again at 8:25 There was no mistake in the translation, Hinata scored the point if you replay the video it hit Aone's(no eyebrows) arms then it bounced to the net in their side then it fell. Additional information about Highschool Volleyball Tournaments in Japan. In one school year there are two tournaments that is the Inter-High Tournament(which is where we are at now) The first Tournament of the school year and the Spring Tournament the second tournament of the school year which was mentioned at 13:37. Moniwa the captain of Date Tech said that the 3rd years are gone by that time which isn't actually the case. Being 3rd years especially in Japan, going to college is harder that's why most 3rd years choose not to play in the spring tournament so as to focus in their studies. However, they can still join the spring tournament if they want to. I explained it here because it is not explained well enough in the anime not a spoiler btw
