There's no getting around that it will taste less satisfying, but that's the tradeoff.
@mb76267 ай бұрын
I've recently gone salt, oil, and sugar free and the thing is your palate definitely does adjust and you find new satisfaction in the foods you're eating without them. If I find I need to make something like a 'vinaigrette' I'll just put some vinegar and a date or two through a food processor with some seasonings and a bit of KCl/potassium salt, etc. A lot of stuff I'll just eat seasoned with dried herbs and spices etc, and stuff like that is still plenty satisfying after a few days adjustment period ime even as someone that used to go extremely hard on the sodium via putting a lot of things like oyster sauce and broth reductions into virtually everything. For me the main unresolvable/persistent tension is just eating in a way that maybe like 0.1% of people in your society does and how that puts you against the flow of broader culture. Eating out and maintaining this kind of practice is essentially impossible, which in many ways is a blessing because restaurant food is essentially junk food in the way it's prepared and seasoned, but that more than anything is the real challenge with this I find. I guess the added prep time involved with cooking everything yourself, too, especially if you're eating a lot of and a broad assortment of vegetables, etc.

@@mb7626 yes, I agree, the most challenging thing is eating out with friends. I usually get the most plant based oil free option on the menu or what I guess it to be. I don't eat out very often, and if the rest of my week is oil free plant based, I still feel healthy and fit. The body adjusts itself quickly I find.

If someone thinks they're getting "out of shape" because of some cooking oil: 1) they are living the wrong way 2) they WILL eventually get "out of shape" It is our base habits and the bulk of our life style that ultimately determines the balance point of demand and supply of energy which is our weight. Living naturally and developing good basic lifetime habits is the only sustainable way. "Sugar-free" or "fat-free" or "something else-free" are just short term distractions and unnatural.

do you only use the ap to determine what vitamins and minerals the oil contains? looking on many other sites i see olive oil full of vitamins and minerals. where does the app get their information from? im finding information saying that it can help with absorption of vitamins and minerals too. i feel like there are good oils, but bad oils too. vegitable oil for example being bad and olive oil being good. vegitabale oil is highly processed and heated, where good olive oil is cold pressed. in the process of the vegitable oil being processed, its many seeds being pressed and chemicals added durring the process. i feel that some oils are good for health, you just need to learn where it comes from and how it is processed. from my research i belive coconut oil, olive oil, lard, butter, and avacado oil to be good, where canola, soy, vegitable, corn, and peanut oils to be bad. i like many of the ideas you have for diet. plant based can be good, but i feel we do need some meats. for example, red meats and their fats have some fat soluable vitamins we need that plants dont have. id like to hear more about what you have to say. its good in my opinion to look at multiple perspectives then also research and debate it. if you see something u disagree with in my comment(that you didnt already answer in ur video), please let me know @minus the gym id love to hear what u might have to say about my comment. thanks.

I would say eating enough fiber and fructose in the day is the best thing you can do to lose weight from a chemical and psychological standpoint because si many people avoid fruit because of the sugar which our brains naturally crave they end up caving at the end of the day and going for highly caloric dense possessed sugars like cookies and ice cream. When I started eating a vegan diet I thought I would lose weight but I didn't and me not willing to go back to eating meat I did my research and discovered the wonders of fiber and the damage that fat can do to your body when there is no fiber involved. I lost 30 pounds in a year eating a low fat high carb whole food diet with little to no gluten and I've never felt better I didn't really care about the weight loss anymore once I felt my energy levels boost I became obsessed and very passionate about this way of eating. Not only did I lose weight but also lost my IBS and now have regular light menstruation. I got off my antidepressants and am now in better shape In my 30s then when I was a teen. I. Not saying all these amazing things will happen for everyone but I am saying that it's definitely worth taking a chance. I no longer crave processed foods like I once did and everytime I do I immediately regret eating it when I wake up the next day feeling like death.

Other than that, totally agree with the no oil.

Wait..but doesn't Olive oils have good fats as they say "Mediterranean diet". Also MCT oil has been shown to be very good for the brain.
@MinusTheGym5 жыл бұрын
Ben smith yeah, some oils have good amounts of healthy fats in them, meaning an ideal omega 3 to 6 ratio, but those same healthy fats exist in the whole food source with all the other nutrients nature intended. For example, flaxseed oil is touted as being among the best sources for omega 3, but you can eat ground flaxseed and get the same healthy fats along with tons of other micronutrients (and fiber) which your body needs but you don't get from oil. I guess the point I was trying to make in this video is not that oil contains only bad things, but it's a very refined product that's pure fat and excludes all the other important nutrients your body needs. You're much better off eating the whole food source: avocado, olives, ground flaxseed, coconut, walnuts, etc.

Dear, I like your videos as you accomplished to simplify the moves to begin calisthenics with proper progress. In nutrition we were almost ok till you excluded %100 extra fat. There is such thing as healthy fat and although it is not by means of vitamin or mineral; cell membrane or our brain is made up of fat. I'm in the same opinion with you when we are talking about refined (manufactured) oils. But in my actual knowledge virgin olive oil, source confirmed butter, avokado and nut oil are at the same level of healthyness differed by fibre contained. As after what I read and watched (since quite some years) They should not be causing inflamation but helping fight it back. However I will reverify if really I can intake as much of everything without adding additional oil. As that way we are %100 sure that no refinement of oil ever possibly happen and we take also that from whole food.
@cagri53604 жыл бұрын
I'm actually watching to the documentary you mentioned and at 01:17:21 Neal Barnard explains diabetes is not a consequence of high blood sugar but micro fatty acid accumulation under the cell membrane somehow blocking insulin intake... I feel once more I'm in the middle of the war sugar vs fat.... Till that point they showed more than 10 people with problems but the way they miraculously recovered is very very simply explained by choosing plant based diet (at the last 45 mins they give a clue...). Problem I see "no nuts" (all vegetable but no nuts?) in the diet list of S.L. Jackson and a guy having a bread (gluten, wheat???) sandwich (vegetables inside). Eggs, Diary out of the diet.
@MinusTheGym4 жыл бұрын
Cagri Hey there. I don't think fat is inherently bad or anything. I just think any oil, being 100% pure fat, is a poor choice of dietary fat. It's much healthier to get your fat from whole food sources (nuts, seeds, avocado, coconut, fish, etc.) because you're getting protein, carbohydrate and many other micronutrients with it. It's more "natural." Rather than shunning oil completely, I think people who use tablespoons or measuring cups of oil would be doing their body a good service by reducing their oil intake. Even 1 tsp can go a long ways in a recipe. Yes, the sugar vs. fat war is all part of the confusion that keeps making nutrition a difficult topic. Put it this way: my mother has type 2 diabetes, limits her sugar intake, and yet has been a diabetic for 2 decades now. And the same goes for millions of other diabetics who continue to need medications and take insulin injections. So the limiting sugar concept doesn't appear to work for many people. However, Dr. Barnard's theory of intramyocellular lipids causing insulin resistance has some merit when you see just how many people have gotten off their medications from a whole food plant based diet with limited fat intake. Forks Over Knives' website and also the Amazon reviews for Barnard's book on reversing diabetes are chock-full of testimonials from people. I wish they'd do controlled studies on this so the evidence was more conclusive, though.
