It's funny how you repeat that people say "you ruin" your paintings by introducing abstractions. 😂 I need to learn how to "ruin" my paintings to make them less dull. I think you're really inspiring. It's a shame we live in different continents! I would love to go to your painting workshops. 😢

The crazy thing about art today is the fact that we can share our art and thoughts and ideas on a widespread popular platform such as KZbin. I (like other viewers, I'm sure) feel more closely familiar with the artist. And once I buy (which I plan to do one day) one of the artists works I feel I will have a deeper connection to the artwork due to being able to understand the mind of the artist through these videos and ultimately due to the advances of technology. It's a treat to live in the tech savvy world we do.

I finished a small painting of a girl with purple skin and no hair with a flat teal background and some gold details thrown in. It was... different to say the least. I LOVED it but I know not to many people would but my friend bought it for a white elephant gift exchange and it exchanged hands a few times before it finally found its forever home (which for a white elephant is a good thing) and that made me feel SO good :)

Depends on what you want: succes over night, or beeing a true artist and not taking the short cut. And this is hard of course, expecially in our days. A good painting it's like a good wine: the older it gets, the better it becomes. Only time can be the best Judge.

Years ago I decided I wanted to have fun with a portrait I’d sketched and painted the skin blue and the hair pink. Everyone criticised it and me to the point where I trashed the painting and stopped for months. Since then, I’d obviously been back but I think way too much about what people think, so this video really helped me realise, fuck people and what they think, I wanna have that much fun again. Thank you so much.

My only metrics for enjoying my art: Did I enjoy doing it, did I achieve something close to what I set out to do and did I learn anything while doing it. My brother has sold some of his work. I’m in college for a art major and I had a very traditional painting teacher we’re if you don’t do exactly the way he wants with the paint he wants or even the way you organize your pallet, he treats it like you can’t succeed. I made a painting and he wanted me to change it all restart and said to paint over it . When I finished my self portrait he said he couldn’t tell if it was supposed to be realistic or cartoon and I could not believe how aggravating it was for not just me but everyone in the class. At the end of the semester I just said screw it he wanted me to change and I wouldn’t and so in return I got trashed on by his critique to my class mates they found great and gave me praise .Screw what others want or think you do you , if you like your painting you keep it . Learning and growing is important but if you don’t like what your doing what’s the point .

I'm not sure if it's just me but I feel like he added a slight bit of asymmetry to the corner of the left eye or the left eye in general which makes it look way more balanced out and like an actual photo than trying to get it completely symmetrical
