I met Danny once, back in 2002, I think it was, at the Majestic Bar at around 1am during the Cannes Film Festival. The place was packed and he politely asked if he could join us by taking the seat next to me on a couch. Introduced himself as Danny and we just launched into a conversation about movies which lead to soundtracks. I had no fucking clue who he was. NONE. He said he was a composer and was at the festival supporting a friend who had a film in competition. At the end of the night he insisted on paying the bar bill even though he didn't drink and that was it. About a year later, I think it was, I saw him being interviewed on TV about the Simpsons. It hit me like a ton of bricks. That's DANNY! The guy I met at Cannes! Had no fucking clue. One of the nicest guys I ever met. So genuine and polite and friendly. Great guy.

@smithereens113 жыл бұрын
TBone, Incredible. I and a friend, high schoolers at the time, faked our way into DJing a punk spot at WESU for a couple summers. When tix for that show went on sale, I said to my pal, ‘we’re going to get Danny to do a station ID.’ I called the Agora and spoke to a few people and eventually, someone called back and said we were to meet him backstage and show us upstairs, where I first ran into Sam and we started chatting. I see this red headed guy coming up the stairs but he had glasses so I kept talking with Sam. My friend starts tugging at my shirt and says hey man, it’s Danny. I wheeled around and he smiled and shook our hands. We didn’t have anything to record on so i had my teac tape deck and a cheap mic borrowed from music class. Danny looked at it for a second and just went ahead with it. He then invited us for sound check and we stayed pressed against the stage for the rest of the night. Agree, it was the best show I’ve seen to date. I remember Danny saying at some point, ‘Hey, you guys aren’t supposed to know us that well out here!’ Amazing show.

@k.g.alatore3559 жыл бұрын
+thegame890 I don't know. Danny Elfman doesn't seem to be the type to go back and spend time on things like remasters and reissues and such. Even some old Boingo albums are out of print or going out of print at the moment. I hope that in light of his recent one-off Boingo performance at the Nightmare Before Christmas show in L.A, he'll reconsider and allow this DVD to be reissued along with some old Boingo stuff. Even if they never reunite, the fact that there's still an interest in the band should be enough to justify reissuing their catalog.
@thegame8908 жыл бұрын
Yes I've also understood Danny doesn't like to go back on his early work. But at least he could hire some people to do it. Many CDs of Oingo Boingo of are also out of print to my knowledge. Some guy asked him whether he would like to remaster the Oingo Boingo discography or not, he said the mastering was fine and nobody had ever asked him to do it. Perhaps the guy wanted to say the reissuing and reprinting the CDs would be more important for fans, than "remastering process".
