We must keep in mind that the direct was portrayed as if you were really moving to a deserted island...I know there will be free updates but I highly doubt they aren't already in the game...you will just have to wait until that time of year.

Here’s a small detail I haven’t seen anyone notice, in the direct, after the fast travel home, the villager loses 500 miles, so this isn’t exactly efficient fast travel

Yeah I don't think it's meant as fast travel really, I think with terrain editing they've found the possibility for players to get stuck somewhere so they've offered an escape route that isn't just quitting.

There's only a very small amount of games which make me feel like "those devs were madly in love with what they created". Especially with game series where over time the devs just keep redoing the same concept "because it works and people buy it" (totally not looking at you, Pokemon). The main AC games are always absolute top quality. They wouldn't have needed to do this - because people would still have bought it for the Switch - but they know exactly what AC stands for and still did it. That's why they have my highest respect in today's fast paced money making gaming industry.

The Switch lineup has really managed to separate the sheep from the goats in that regard when it comes to Nintendo development teams. Series like Zelda, Mario, Smash Bros, Fire Emblem, and now Animal Crossing got the mad love treatment, while games like Pokémon and Mario Party got the "Fans will buy it, so let's poop it out" treatment. Mario Party's neglect actually depressed me. Those games were so, so good in the N64/GameCube era, but once they started losing the spark, they wasted so much potential. If Nintendo would actually make a super thought out, mad-love Mario Party game, with heavy Party Mode customizability and a deep dive into remaking/rebalancing/updating a hand-picked back catalog of the hundreds of quality minigames throughout the series (influenced by fan input, not just the random junk in that half-hearted 3DS compilation), they'd have an absolutely incredible game on their hands.

The fans need to let Pokémon grow. Pokémon now being on a home* console and actually 3D, they cant have a 3 year dev time while working on 2 other games. When Pokémon gets a 5 year uninterrupted dev time like Nintendo games, it’ll be fantastic

Honestly Pokemon has done so much creativity in the past in terms of spin off, and while they tend to stick to the tried and true formula from time to time, they do pour their soul into certain aspects of the games, like the Pokemon camp in Sword and Shield or battling certain characters or Pokemon like Red or Ultra Necrozma

Point of interest! Take a look at the four maps that were shown. It appears that on day one, we will not be able to explore the entire island. No matter which one you choose, you only have your first common area. Until you acquire the pole, rivers block your way. Additionally, it appears that you’ll only have access to a small portion of beach. I’m in favor of all of this! I’ve always loved those first days of AC wherein each new day unlocks something new...Perfect!

Eh, the unlocks that takes several real world weeks is something I've never really liked about animal crossing. I love the series, but I wish they'd ditch that in favor of activity based unlocks.

I'd personally wish it would.... but I'm not going to give up on the series if it doesn't either. It is one of my favorites after all.

@@SpyderT22 I don't agree. I'm so tired of people talking about accomplishment this, and pride that like it's an objective term that works the same for every single person on the planet. I DONT feel accomplishment from the real world time movement. I just feel anoyed because it turns the game into every other live service there is out there. You're free to like whatever you want about the game, no one can stop you, but not everyone else has to. Don't get me wrong, I love the series, but I feel, much like zelda or mario, it could use some changes. I get most of my accomplishment feelings from time traveling, so I can play the game for more then 20 minutes a day... I get my pride from using the various town editor tools, not to cheat my town, but to build it meticulously to my standard and seeing how nice it looks afterward. Luckily we'll be able to build our towns up like that without mods in new horizon, but sadly we'll still be locked to real world time... and whats worse events are being held back as "Free dlc" to hold back time travel. So I very much dislike that. You don't have to, but I do and I wish it would change. Also, now that we have resource gathering, crafting, and full blown official city building/terraforming you'd still have to put a lot of time and effort into a town to make it look good, even with the ability to skip days so your point's a little moot anyway.

My ONLY issue with the direct was that we got no info on the villagers themselves. I love how I'll be able to customize the island, but the main gameplay (previously at least) has always been building relationships, and I was hoping they'd darasticly improve that as well. But yeah, shaping the land how you want, tools having their own menu, the beauty of the museum... it's all so good...

I'm pretty sure it's more so for each replacement console. It's not One time in the sense that if you happen to lose or blow-up your second switch you have to restart, just that you only get to download your save once at the activation of a new switch.

I'm still not totally sure how the One Island for switch works. If my daughter plays for a month, and then I want to play with my user, all the island will be already filled? Or is the same island but empty for each user?

Yes you will totally share the island so basically your character will have his own separate house but the island will be your daughter's with all the progression. But that can be nice to be two working on the island and earning more bells to achieve "goals" quicker though !

The water feature adds so much potential. You could make a moat around your house, or very ornate water structures surrounding buildings. Also I wonder what the maximum height of our town is now we can choose where to put higher ground???

ScarfFox and Friends I still have reason to time travel, personally. I mostly travel backwards, not forwards. I miss the AC holidays more often than not, so I go back to do them. Updates shouldn’t have any effect on that.

do you know if it is 1 island per device, or is it 1 island per nintendo account and you can just play on the other accounts back when i first got new lief me and my brother shared a world, and it was not the best, and my brother eventually bought 2 different copies of new lief, and each had it's own town, but it is almost sounding like no mater how many copies you buy you are still playing on the same island because it is saved on the device and not the game card

The QR code thing, in the phone App is definitely the best feature, but the phone typing feature was a nice addition that took me a moment to realize the application. At first, I figured it wouldn’t do much for home since the Switch has native support for USB keyboards, but then I thought about how you can’t use those keyboards in portable mode. Sure, one can decide to use the touch screen keyboard, but that means taking up the screen real-estate with the keyboard controls. This seems like an extra feature they added just so you can go around in portable mode, have a better method than control sticks to type in, while leaving the entire screen still dedicated to the game. The terraforming ability is going to be crazy as people will end up turning entire sections of their island into AC representations of their favorite locations, etc. Maybe recreate the layout of their RL downtown area or park. They also still show you can place buildings and such right flat against a river, etc. No longer do you have to keep everything two virtual squares (2 meters?) apart from something else.

Negatives: Anti-cheat time travel issues was added so people don't notice that the game is unfinished. The ESRB were correct to remove "In Game Purchases" because it's really "Out of Game Purchases", because Pocket Camp is going go be the loot box crazy place to get *(what probbally is exclusive) content. No Swiming and diving... might be in a future update. Positive: Jumping, over small gaps to escape spiders/scorpions. Landscaping the ground, is so exciting. Making a mini Hyrule is now possible! Making your own water features. This is huge. Maybe certain types of water feature attract certain kinds of fish. For fishing farms to get the best fish!

Anti Cheat time travel issues?

@@lilian8803 Reportedly you will no longer be able to change your switch system clock and change the in game time. Additionally you will also no longer be able to turn the date forward or backwards and effect the in game date. This was considered cheating, since it could be abused to check for turnip prices for that week, travel back in time to Sunday morning, then travel forward to whenever to make lots of bells. The problem is I used it to turn back time so I never missed a day, and played about 3-4 days in about 2 hours. Each weekend when I had spare time. Additionally there is an auto save feature, which I don't mind as much.
