@TheFred128 This is as real as it gets, the textures are rendered from their actual source to whichever resolution we choose. We don't grab the textures on native resolution and stretch them, we actually render them at our chosen res.

You don't need any tutorial, all settings are written in this video's description. Those not mentioned are at default. Just use the same settings and you'll be fine (ofcourse game speed vastly depends on your PC, even if you copy my exact settings)

I didn't say better textures, I said you can set the resolution the textures will be rendered at. That can be changed in the GSdx configuration

Press F9 to see which effects have been removed from hardware mode. If you're the same guy from the forum, keep asking there, something is definitively wrong since with that system you should be getting about 150 FPS :P

Yes as said in the description these work only if you set GSdx to a software renderer. But then you get a big speed hit and lose all the upscaling eye candy...

Yes, you can see the resolution used in the description. 0.9.9 has about 700 code revisions after 0.9.8 :P

No all plugins used are included in the PCSX2 packages. Using a newer revision from pcsx2.net (click SVN on the top menu) will probably be even better. As I said previously, speed mainly depends on your PC, so I guess it's not up to par.

@MousseEnBiday You can play the game with the post processing effects if you play it in software mode of GSdx but that would require a beast of a CPU to emulate at full speed...

@olidude7 Because the GPU isn't doing any emulation. It just renders what the graphics plugin tells it to. It's the console's CPU that's being emulated.

The post processing effect is not emulated properly in the GSdx plugin when using a hardware renderer. The only way to get the proper effect is by using a software renderer of the plugin. Depends on your controller, maybe you need to adjust the axis sensitivity (especially for xbox360 controllers)

Not sure if dolphin emulates the paper effects properly, it's the only thing not working with PCSX2 on hardware mode. Other than that, it looks amazing upscaled on PCSX2

Try using skipdraw to 1,2 or 3. Also put CRC Hacks to full ( post process will not work).

Yeah it's one of the advantages of using an emulator, you can specify in which resolution the game's textures will be rendered at. Which means you are just using the original game and the rest is done by PCSX2 ;)

It should perform nicely on most games. It won't get full speed on the demanding ones but you will certainly by able to play full speed a variety of games ;)

Setting resolution to native will only reduce the GPU load. Almost everyone having speed issues are bottlenecked by their CPU not their GPU, so that would probably not help :P

@Traumashake The BIOS has nothing to do with games and is not in games. You have to extract it from your Playstation 2 console.

@dendonflo OK as I thought, that game version has not been included in the special fix list (we currently have the US,JAP and FR regions of the game). Sorry to tell you but you will not get support for downloaded games in our forum, it's our policy so we won't get into any legal trouble. Your CRC will be included in a future SVN though.

Did you ever overcome the shader problems? This is mostly seen when using brushes, some other scenes utilizing shaders in several layers such as the introduction scene.

I guess by shaders you mean the post-processing effects. These only work properly with a software renderer of GSdx, not much else you can do ATM.

I mean stuff like being able to see the canvas when learning a new celestial drawing. There is also an entire area in the game that relies heavily on this effect that make it almost unplayable. I think it was after you found the whirlpool with the Orca.

Yeah that's because PCSX2 is heavily CPU dependent and not GPU depended (like PC games are). So my i5 at 4,3 Ghz allows me to play anything at like 100 FPS easily even while I'm using a fairly old graphics card (although the memory bandwidth the 9800GTX+ has which is the most important part for PCSX2 is VERY high even for today's GPUs)

PS2's structure is totally alien compared to the PC, it uses a full software renderer (GS) for graphics and has the EE, the IOP, VU0 and VU1 parallel processors running, which you have to keep in sync. Oh full speed is not a matter of perception with PS2 games, 60 FPS for NTSC and 50 FPS for PAL is full speed. Meaning if you get 30 FPS on a NTSC game, everything will work at half actual speed (sound, video etc). Demanding games are the Gran Turismo series, Metal Gear Solid series, Shadow of the Colossus and various others

So there is absolutely no way to enable postprocessing and paper effect in direct3d mode? Because software mode shows how the game actually looks on the PS2 but lags horribly. I'm yet to try other graphics plugins but I'm afraid I'll have to stick to the standard driver.

Can someone explain to me why the rice paper filter doesn't work for this game? Like when you use the celestial brush, there should be a filter which doesn't show up. Also, is it a limitation of the plugin I'm using or controller I'm using that's causing me to only be able to move in 8 directions? It makes painting and controlling Ammy really awkward.

Srsly, I can't get the game to work! It runs at like 5-20 fps and everything goes in slowmotion :( Also, when I'm trying to aply the 'GSDx (SSE4/SSE3)' it says that the selected GS failed to load :( So I can only play with the 'SSE2' one.

What's your pc specs? Might be your pc can't handle it, or maybe the emulator needs to be configured.

I guess post-processing isn't working right with hardware mode yet. Do you think it ever will? I really want to stream this game (Yes, I own it, I ripped the ISO from my own disc >_>) but would rather not stream it with inferior/inaccurate graphics.

Annoyingly, turning on the best settings in PCSX2 eliminates a lot of the original game effects, especially when you're painting - the screen is supposed to fold down and turn sepia while you hold R1. I had to make a lot of graphical sacrifices with the settings to get the original effects.

This is a 6 year old video :P Since then, the OpenGL renderer can emulate Okami with all the bloom effects and the canvas. You can still remove the paper-like effect with the aggressive CRC hack if you want to, but this IS emulated correctly by now.

Old comment but for me the effect doesn't look right when upscaling (OpenGL), it's misaligned and looks blurry so I rather play with D3D11 HW mode which disables it. Using latest dev build.

I'm searching for a solution from mounth now, when I play Okami on pcsx2, most of textures are grey/black, it make the game unplayable, if someone already had the same problem and solved it, please tell me how you did that. @PCSX2teamI know native resolution, and WHAT does the pcsx2 is actually upcaling, compare for example, shadow of the colossus running live on pcsx2 shadow of the colossus and hd in ps3, the ps3 version of the pcsx2 destroy the ps3 version you choose to run in hd real, and you can choose to run in 1080p real, there you see a big improvement in texture, lighting effects and graphics in general, because the graphics are running in high definition real.

Heeeey... Uhm.. Im trying to play okami on the.. Well.. Most recent PCSX2 Release of course. Though.. Mine on start up just shows a blank screen(Black screen) And doesn't load up. Am I missing something ?(If I boot up a Full Boot, The Playstation screens goes by to stop on a black screen.).

Fhufuu You can make a perfectly legal iso image from your original dvd disc. And yes we do not provide support for downloaded games.

@dendonflo No it's not your PC something else must be wrong...I guess your game CRC is not included in the automatic fixes of GSdx. You can see which CRC your game has in the PCSX2 console window after you run the game. This is mine (as an example): ELF (cdrom0:\SLUS_211.15;1) Game CRC = 0x21068223
