The steep dark hollows and ridge tops of Appalachia carry the wind song of haunting occurrences of yesteryear, Clifton’s music ( Old Leatherstocking) just blends beautifully with that melody. This guy knows how to play it right !

An appropriate post for this weekend. Haunting beyond belief. 👍👍

This is such a cool overall feel. The sound, the lyrics, along with the look. I'd LOVE to hear this recorded on old equipment, pressed to record, then played on an old Victrola. It would be haunting, but in a way that would keep you listening. Incredibly well done as always, Mr. Hicks.

Its pretty perfect, I think that old film filter and a tube preamp would fit. But man a record player hiss skip would be killer too.

Mr. Hicks? I guess it's good to be . when it's appropriate. And yes It's Most especially appropriate when speaking someone else's name. But that don't seem to be the case here, because that's no Mr. Hicks. I'm pretty sure that's death, all I kings and queens bow down to the, in the end so will we. You welcom ✌️💀

Gotta say, I found your channel several months ago and it has given me such a new appreciation for true folk. Today the traditional "front porch" tunes are far and few between. I find the stories these songs tell are so down to earth and simple, yet very powerful in their somberness. Keep this up!

This seems like it would be something I'd encounter in red dead redemption 2. A man in the woods who ominously plays the banjo
@phillbenjamin47156 ай бұрын
I love how he makes the deep driving sound of that banjo compete for front center stage with his darkly sung lyrics. A brilliant piece of art painted around the message of the song. Reminds me a lot of why I think Led Zeppelin was so great. 😁

¿A qué país perteneces?»

As I walked out one winter day I met a man along the way, His head was bald his beard was grey His clothing made of the cold red clay (x2) I said old man what happened to you? What country did you belong unto? My name is Death I've come for thee All kings and princes bow down to me (x2) I'll give you gold I'll give you pearls I'll give you a fine silk robe to wear, If you will spare me one season more Give me some time my life to amend (x2) I want no gold I want no pearls I want no fine silk robe to wear, I cannot give you one season more Nor give you some time your life to amend (x2) Three days later that lady died Carve this upon my tomb she cried, As I am now you'll be one day Your clothing made of the cold red clay (x2)
