Well now, after seeing the green bean and bacon video, and now this one, I think I'm going to have to roast the other half of a big pork loin and put it all together for this Sunday supper coming up~wonderful combination! Linda, I also always add the mustard and cayenne, along with a dash of nutmeg to any mac n' cheese recipe~it just gives the dish a bit more depth I think, don't you? thank you for sharing this super easy version and also the good clean joke Sam~that's always appreciated too=) God bless you folks! ~Samantha in AZ

I agree with you RV...I almost added the nutmeg but since I had already added two ingredients that weren't in the recipe I decided against it...this was my kinda meal!! TFW and God Bless, Linda

Hey! I always add ground mustard, a pinch of cayenne, and sometimes a smidgen of nutmeg to my mac and cheese too, but I've never added an egg. It looks like a soufflé topping when finished! Just lovely. You have great dishes and service pieces, and I see you like green. It really is all so pretty and tasteful. 😀
@Handsthatcook7 жыл бұрын
awww thanks Julia...green is my favorite color! How did the cake come out with the almonds on Easter??? I never heard back from you.
@juliadickson9117 жыл бұрын
Hands That Cook I still have company. They have lumped Easter and spring break together here. The cake was delicious! I just put slivered almonds at the bottom of the Bundt pan, and I used almond extract. It was very good, but next time, I'm going to do it your way 100%. I'm taking credit for making it. I didn't. My niece Katherine made it. Together we made pecan pie, though. Both desserts were eaten in two days over the Easter weekend. Now, it's all health and diet food for the rest of the week and my brother's family visit. The kids are complaining like you wouldn't believe. You know how it's the stereotype that Italian mothers and grandmothers want to stuff you with food? In the cosmopolitan area that my parents come from on Spain, it is the opposite "don't eat anymore! You'll get fat!" lol. The stereotype of Fernando Lamas saying "its better to look good than feel good, darling!" is so so true.

Sam 👏👏👏 Made ME laugh. I'd avoid a recipe that called for cottage cheese and sour cream because of the 'sour' factor and yet it looked very good and the just 1 egg was plenty to set it up lovely. I always put mustard in a cheese sauce too Linda, Dijon's very good as well as Coleman's but I'll try your Cayenne too next time I make Cauliflower Cheese.
@Handsthatcook7 жыл бұрын
Essem, this recipe is very good....not sour as you might think. I was trying to follow the recipe as closely as possible and had already added cayenne pepper and the dry mustard. I've used other recipes that I added mustard to so I didn't want to stray much further otherwise it would not have been the same recipe. I also have a cauliflower cheese recipe on my channel...it's excellent!!

Hi again Ardra, I checked all the Jr. League cookbooks on Amazon and found 2 named "When The Dinner Bell Rings". The name of my cookbook is "When Dinner Bells Ring"....I'm sorry to say you don't have the same book but at least you have one with some older recipes!!!
@acalways89587 жыл бұрын
Actually it was the only one on there with the same title as yours. It came from Talladega Jr. League. It has a country house on the cover with a dinner bell on a pole in front of the house. The cover art is by Sarah Whitson. I found this recipe on page 58. I wish i could send you a pic. LOL! I saw it was the only one and i jumped on it.

Ardra....that IS the right book!! I would have never thought it would be sold on Amazon!! Well, that's wonderful you found it. I asked Sams' sister about the book. She said it was for sale all over Talladega....and I was surprised at that being it was originally published in 1978. If you don't live in Talladega, I wouldn't know how to tell you to find it except through the Jr. League. Congratulations!!
