You can record someone without their consent, as long as one person knows that they're being recorded, which is you. That's the law in most states in the US, although there are some states that require both parties to know they're being recorded.

The wedding singer / band is "The Dan Band". As people have said, also in The Hangover. They were also in Starsky & Hutch remake. They're a normal band and tour. They have a bunch of songs they perform and randomly throw swears into.

Wow I never thought of it this way but this movie is almost quite sad. Frank gets fake married then falls back into alcohol. Loses a friend “Blue” and at that funeral his wife asks for a divorce??? Mitch gets cheated on. Moves out and is then threatened to have to leave. Gets tricked by a HS girl. Lied about having assaulted a waitress.

Just a word on recording without consent: it depends on an expectation of privacy as well. Their conversation happened in a crowded college hallway so I’m not sure the Dean could argue he had an expectation that that conversation would be an entirely private one.

FYI you can record people without consent. In public it's always admissible. In 1 party consent states only one party has to know that it's being recorded. It would be inadmissible if you recorded a conversation between others without you being involved in the conversation. Only in 2 party consent states is it illegal to record a private conversation without the other person knowing.
