This should be the standard for every kid in school, until they get to college. Social media is destroying the younger generation. Now, don't get me wrong. I was addicted to my razor as a kid, but we didn't have even 80% of the things now offered in smart phones.

@@iamjungle3558 The best way to keep your children off of social media to create a better mental health environment for this entire world. Would be for parents to stay off of social media themselves & focus on paying attention to their own children instead of ignoring them by babbling a bunch of nonsense BS with their so-called friends & people they've never even met yet in life. That's the best answer if I do say so myself. Just saying... Not that all of these tech devices & cell phones aren't a big part of the problem, but IDGAS what anybody says, "It Starts In The Home, Period." If parents, family members, friends & neighbors in the community would just stop & do the right thing to help instill a few common moral values & principles into kid's. My 10 year old daughter asked me last year if she could have a cell phone. I immediately said no. She replies "but what if i need to call you?" I replied then you walk to the main office like I did when I was a kid and have them call me. She said ok and walked away. Fast forward to this year and the school just sent out a notice to parents to please make sure your children are knowledgeable about the cellphone rules in school. I guess they're pulling them out in class and this is elementary school.

Hi I'm a high school science teacher in Virginia and this is correct. At the beginning of the year during the first week of school in August, all teachers gave a cell phone policies sheet to each student read it to them and told them what it ment and to get it signed. They are not allowed to have cell phones out they have to be put away. In January of 2025 they will not be able to have them in use at all in the building. This is an inforcement that everyone has to follow. Hope this info helps have a great day

Liar. Very few landlines still use the old copper wires. Most landlines are VoIP. Meaning no power, no internet, no landline. If your landline is bundled with internet or cable, odds are good that your phones used VoIP. During Snowmageddon 2021 in Texas, we had no power, no internet, no landlines. HOWEVER, if you had a smartphone with enough of a charge, and attempted to use it at odd times at night, like 2 in the morning, what little service you had, you could actually use, because most people were asleep.

@@UmmYeahOk I have fiber to the home. 1Gb symmetrical Internet and a land line with unlimited calls to North America and landlines in most of the world. International calls to cell phones cost a few cents per minute as someone has to pay for the call. The ONT (optical network terminator) has a little 4" cube that is a UPS. The phone works for more than 30 hours in a power failure. So does the Internet as long as your laptop has a charge. And just like turning off your cell phone so it will work later, but not receive calls, unplugging the power connector to the ONT preserves battery for when you need it.

I haven't been happy for a while and I was thinking about times when I was happy. I realized I was my happiest in the early 2000's when I'd be hanging out with friends and going places, reading, drawing, being in nature. I didn't have a cell phone or social media until I graduated high school in 2005. I want to get back to that happiness. Aside from YT, I deleted all social media and dumified my iPhone. I've started reading again and now I just need to find fun hobbies and friends to fill my free time. I can tell you I'm already feeling so much better.

I got a smart flip phone. It can do things a smartphone can, but it's harder to use. You need patience navigating around with the button controls. I would just use it for of course, calling, texting, music and note writing. Its very useful.

Problem is that one cannot use the OLD phones, as they were all 2G/3G only, which is now being switched off worldwide. One has to get a NEW old style dumb phone, that is 4G/5G frequency capable.

Yes. And the new "dumb" phones cost more than a decent "smart" phone on which you can simply remove the apps that are not needed and make it as dumb as you need. Dumb people buy new expensive dumb phones.

I’m in my young 30s, and I really want a phone that just calls, texts, stores music, takes pictures, and is a hotspot when I need it for my laptop. I delete my social media over a year ago and it has been so liberating. Social media is the top reason I don’t want kids too.

I have a flip phone along with 16 different smartphones. I always wondered how much of an upgrade they would get if they stuck around long enough. They are definitely getting major upgrades. This is especially useful when driving since there’s less to run on demand.

I've simply come to the conclusion that convenience does not always mean better. In the case of my smartphone, i will be ditching it by the end of the month. Ive been damaged and addicted to smartphones for too long. Im very glad many people feel my sentiment and also wish to take their life and privacy back!

The problem is increasing numbers of businesses are requiring smartphones for everday activities. To park at our local community college you must pay with a smartphone. There is no other way to pay for parking. You'd have to park on the street about a mile away to be out of the no parking barrier zone around the campus. Sports and entertainment venues are going cashless and ticketless. Theme parks require you use an app to order food or hold your place in line. So if you don't have a cell phone, you're excluded from these activities.

I like my smartphone. But I'd happily use it as wifi only and only during business hours. The remaining 2/3 of the day, I don't need all those apps. I'm good with shutting it off and letting all the companies trying to track me eat silence.

I’ve owned 3 basic phones from Verizon before I switched to Straight Talk 10 years ago and I still remember my very first phone which was a LG VX5400 flip phone. I’m not into these new age smartphone flip phones at all which are more vulnerable in the middle with folding glass. If I were to get any flip phones I’d take the old school style any day
