We’ve been married 42 years. I can absolutely assure you that it IS possible to marry and live a dream! I believe people telling others to set their expectations too low; that they cannot expect a “dream marriage” as you put it. One just has to choose the correct person and to be sure that the other person is choosing the correct person.....you! Low expect-ions are never helpful.

Mack started up that airplane without performing a preflight check. I'll bet he didn't do an engine run-up, either. I don't think I would want to fly with him! We already know he lets his car's gas tank go dry. Gulp.

McGraw-Hill has been in business since 1888, still operating today. They are a leading textbook maker. In the 40’s-80’s they made films like this for different age groups. This would have been presented in classrooms of upperclassmen in high schools around the country back in the day.

I noticed that, too. I think the writers of this series, while sometimes giving good advice, are pessimistic about some things under the guise of "tough realism." For example, the narrator says about the first man, Mac, who is decisive (but somehow the narrator never points out he is also controlling and manipulative), "You can't have his strength without the rest of him." Yes, a person can be a strong and decisive leader but also humble and considerate. In fact, the kinder he is, the stronger he is. The narrator never seems to have heard of the phrase "kind but firm." Also, at the end, the highest expectation the narrator can scrounge up for the wiser couples is "a relatively happy life." Relatively. What about all those couples who are and were living examples of a very happy married life in spite of being realistic about each other's faults? Or does reality not count here? I call this pseudo-realism.

Another fine film they should still be showing in school. Pity, so many people would waste their time complaining about it being about men and women only, or, the choices that some women made, or, why it has to be about marriage instead of free-floating pansexual dynamics or whatever, or, how no one asked the people what pronoun they wanted to be called. Because, just like in this film and what it says about marriage, if you focus on the important bits, you can get a lot out of it.

"Pansexual" just means bisexual with some extra steps, there's no "free-floating pansexual dynamics" it's literally just who you're willing to date. Now, there's polyamory, which I'm pretty sure you're thinking of. There's more _openly_ poly relationships these days, you're right, but I'm certain there were people back in the day who were polyamorists. (Think of the men who led double lives with two families. Those men were poly, I'm pretty sure.)

A personality matters. It doesn't matter how good looking a person is. If their personality totally sucked you wouldn't want to stick around for too long. "Nope, it's a girl this time." ROFLMAO!!! This is wonderful advice for today to help people stop making poor decisions about who they decide to spend their time with. And reading some of the comments from the leftists and feminists is hilarious because once again they absolutely miss the reality of the subject and lack critical thinking. I'm a proud gay man and this movie is perfectly applicable to gay/lesbian relationships BECAUSE IT"S ABOUT PERSONALITIES FOR ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS. I don't need a gay couple to be "represented" in a movie that was made at a time when it was inappropriate to acknowledge it on film in an open and respectful way in order for me to apply it to my life.

Yeah. I didn't agree with the assessment that she liked men like that. I think she just realized she was stuck in a situation where she either had to go and fight for her position, for the now, or, wind up having an even more miserable time. Not sure whose car that was, but, considering the kind of man he was, it was probably his. So, she could go to the game, get their later and hope she was still getting in, and, watch him flirt with other women,; she could walk home; or, she could push those other women out of the plane - figuratively - and at least be more comfortable than the other two choices. I hope she got home and dumped him, but, good!
