Greetings from Croatia, good people! Here in Dalmatia (Zadar), we call these dark, smaller olives "italians", they give a much higher percentage of oil than ordinary, larger olives that are common in our region. In our country, such olives are called "oblice" because they are round. It is interesting that when you plant olives, you must have at least two types of olives so that they can pollinate each other well. In our country, people also plant olives, which they call "grkinje, (greek olives) because they bear large fruit and they are the best for preserving and consuming. I wish you a good harvest!

Same! And they said, with all of the rain they got, their olives were mostly water so this is good news that Sara and Luca have had better luck! Edited to say whoops! Sara explained that! But it is amazing to see oil that green come from olives that are so black. Amazing!

It really helps to have a large group of friends to help with the olive harvest. The friends I help have a large group of two shifts for two days. I've helped with the harvesting and with preparing meals for the groups that help. The morning group gets lunch, and an afternoon group gets dinner, each day. It can be hard work, but so nice to be with friends and meet new people that join in the harvest each year. And, of course, we all buy oil once pressed.

To think that here on this land some of these olive trees have been producing olives annually for over a thousand years make harvesting an almost religious ritual. As you said, you have picked a perfect location, and having thousand year-old olive trees still growing is verification of that. Such a wonderful experience watching your efforts and success. Thank you for sharing. Ciao, ciao.

The value of good friends cannot be measured. You have been blessed with so many good friends, and they have been blessed in having you as friends too. As I watched the video I also turned to day dreaming. How I wish I could be part of such a team! I'm no longer physically up to much so I think my role would have to be as 'Final Leaf Eliminator', riddling through the buckets before the bagging, to remove as many more leaves and twigs as possible. :-) Great vlog as always. Thanks.

To watch your business and community grow brings me great joy. The color of your olive oil is truly golden. Here in the Northern Tuscany and eastern Liguria region, the oil has more of a green tinge to it. I will never forget the first time I tasted olive oil from the tap at the frantoio on fresh bread. We put a little Mediterranean sea salt on the oiled bread which I loved too. There are special moments in life we will always remember with a joyful heart. May God continue to bless you all, and your second daughter who is getting her strength now from your strength Sara. Love and hugs. 😘💜
