Maybe it's because those warp holes are twilight portals. Link can only interact with twilight if he's a wolf, so he'd have to be a wolf to use the warp holes.

I wish I was Link with cats >< mrpf I'm on this part like right now. When she got her memories back about Link, I started to cry x'D Idk if I ship them or not >< I think I do anyway. The reason why Link turns into a wolf at warp time is because it's part of the Twilight resume. And Link turns into a wolf always during Twilight resume. And I'm thinking that Link is a wolf, and he's basically a big dog, why are the cats liking him? Don't dogs and cats hate eachother? Or is that the cats no he is human. And I love the music playing during the shootout and the cat finding, it's like I'm in a proper western x'D Ahh...
