This was dope! For someone going into it with no specific conditioning and literally learning T2B's minutes before the workout, you put up a great score. Mad respect

Respect on giving The Open a shot, without even doing Crossfit. Just learning toes-2-bar and then doing 50 in a workout is rough ha. Pacing was a big factor for us non-elites in 23.1. Your weightlifting is probably on the elite level in CF, but doing it under fatigue is another story. Maybe they'll be a heavy barbell or a complex somewhere in the next two workouts. I'm happy to see you try it out, and don't worry, the nauseous feelings go away once your body learns that it isn't going to die. PS. You should probably practice some double-unders. They are bound to show up

The weightlifting is a good base. If he worked on the other skills and the endurance man Nate can really go far in the sport. He is able to do some movements in this first go where most CrossFitters train years for.

AHHH can't wait for you to do 23.2! As someone who did CrossFit for 4 years then transitioned to WL for 3 years, I love that you're switching it up! It's definitely going to be a nice challenge for you. You also have a great shot if you build up your conditioning and skill-based movements!

Well they don’t do regionals anymore it’s quarterfinals and semifinals but it would take 2+ years at least of him training other modalities to even sniff semifinals. The bar is so high these days. People have been training for 5-10 years solely in CrossFit.

Nice work my dude! This year (2023), there was actually over 320,000 people registered for the Open (counting all of the divisions: Rx, Scaled, Foundation, etc), which is still less than a few years ago when over 400,000 were registered. With a little more training and skill development, you could really crush this sport!

Dude nice work, seriously great showing. Your foundation for CrossFit is there man with olympic lifting. If you just work on the pacing and cardio you would be great at it. One other tip, go lighter on the caffeine before these workouts no joke, your heart rate will spike from the workout alone, it's only 14 minutes so no need to add the higher starting heart rate just from caffeine. Pure beta-alanine is a great pre-workout by itself for CrossFit so you can get those endurance benefits without the elevated starting heart rate! The heart rate messes up a lot of people because it feels super foreign being at a 160+ HR for 10 minutes straight. 10/10 video though, would love to see you rock 23.2 with the shuttle runs, burpee pullups and then max thruster. It's a wild one by CrossFit standards even

@tubelance

CrossFitters have blocky, bloated abs for two reasons. They perform powerful, dynamic movements with extremely heavy weights which builds a thick and stable core. And, the high-intensity nature of the training style encourages calorie burning and fat loss meaning the abs are visible.
