I've been doing OMAD since I began keto for an extremely long time. I didn't plan on doing OMAD.. I just sort of slipped into it naturally because I am hardly ever hungry throughout the day. I tell them it's a positive and natural side effect of going on a high fat and low carb diet. 😊

@@finawatsonart Hi, Fiona. I have a history of an inability to concentrate. To focus. Memory problems since I was a kid. I can't recall half of my life. I don't remember much of my childhood nor adolescence. Just bits and pieces. It was bad. Once I began keto to reverse my prediabetes and cure my severe acne, I realized my memory got better. Way better ( and doctors say memory declines with age... mine got better). Family and friends commented on how well I remember things now. I can focus and concentrate. I've been on keto since 2016. 😊. Intermittent fasting and Keto is the key to eliminating brain fog. I wish you all the best! 🤗

Thank you Mike and Deanna for this sensible presentation on OMAD. I love the fact that you are not dogmatic about it, and offer the caveat that OMAD, like any other dietary strategy, must be customized to fit your fitness and health goals. At the risk of possibly oversimplifying things, I never understood why people have misgivings about women doing OMAD. From an evolutionary perspective, nature did not historically discriminate when it came to food scarcity and which gender experienced it. If there was a dearth of food, both the men and women among our hunter gather ancestry experienced it equally. If going for an extended period of time without food were more injurious to women, the pervasive food scarcity that we experienced for most of human history would mean that a disproportionate amount of women would die in relation to the male population- thus spelling the end of the human race. Even beyond the hunter gather era, many cultures an religions, such as Islam, advocate for fasting for both genders. While there are a myriad of differences between men and women, I think the fact that women are still here, and that the human race is still here because women are still here, is proof enough that women don't need to take extra precautions when it comes to fasting - with the exception of those women who suffer from eating disorders or who are underweight.

I have been doing OMAD for maybe 3 months now and I have lost 31lbs. I still have another 48-55lbs to go. I have found this way of eating to suit me so well. I was one of these people when cutting calories I would obsess over food I even dreamt about food 😅 eating OMAD stops me obsessing over calories. I still treat myself occasionally with a takeaway or something sweet. Before while counting calories if I had takeout food or some cake I would fall of the food wagon and binge over a few days and be back at square one. I have an under active thyroid and ulcerative colitis so my energy levels were very low, I also had brain fog forgetting things which was starting to effect my work. Since starting OMAD I have noticed my energy is up and the brain fog has gone. At the very beginning, say 3-4 days I was hungry and a bit miserable but after that when it got to my eating hour I found I filled up very quickly. This way of eating my not be for everyone but I find its great

Chris Masterjohn suggests nutrient absorption might be problematic when feeding is reduced to a single sitting. For example, assuming a meal with complete proteins/vitamins/minerals (setting aside the issue of phytates or nutrients that compete with each other like Cu/Zn, Mn/Ca, etc).. he says the body won't be able to absorb all the (RDA) necessary nutrients (ex. B-12 , Zinc, etc) even if they're present in abundance!

Just preserve strength and maintain after reaching my goals with keto.I went to carnviore as I used to suffer from a binge eating disorder and still suffered with cravings for sweets with keto. Carnivore truly healed me. But also reduced my appetite. People might say, "Isn't omad binging?" I actually do my omad within 1-3 hrs and unlike binging, it's mindful and SLOW. Typicaly it's now 2 hrs but like she said, she is flexible. I did 4 hrs yesterday. So glad she mentioned it's not black and white. I can still be considered omad despite not always finishing within the hour. Speaking of body composition... after switching to omad I did not think any further improvements could be made to my physique. I was WRONG. ANd gladly so. it depends what your reasons are when choosing a short feeding window. If it’s for autophagy , no cream. Sometimes I’ll have a little whey protein post leg day workout out. I’m not strict with OMAD- but rather flexible . Whatever helps me build muscle, digest food well and sleep well- also brain health & productivity . DC I think it also depends on the foods that you’re eating. I typically eat 1800 calories in a 2-hour window. Quite easy with fatty meats, organ meats yolks, ect and also good plant-based fats if you can tolerate them , such as avocado, olives - I found, personally, maintenance about the same. But some feel if Keto-Adapted, your body becomes more efficient with burning its own fat for fuel so you can get away with less. That being said- it also depends on % lean muscle you have and how much body fat you need to burn to reach your target goals.

Great video & perfect timing for me. I am thinking of going to OMAD to help with long term history of over eating & to get round the challenge of finding healthy lunch options when I am at work. Packed lunches don't work for me as if I have foods I can pick at in the house I will eat them in the evening & end up buying more again next day so now I try to shop for each meal just before I wan to eat

I have been on keto now since Dec. 20, 2020 and have lost 24 lbs so far. I have just started OMAD because I was still struggling with bingeing keto foods in the evenings. So now I eat my one meal a day when I get home from work so I can still enjoy eating a big meal with my keto dessert in the evening, and it seems to be working well for me so far.

Hi. Thank you both for such amazing content! Ive is been doing IF for a few years but want to switch to OMAD. I want to eat my meal in the evening but I work work out in the mornings. Is it ok to have a weight lifting session in the morning but then not eat anything until the evening? Please advise me on this concern. Thanks.
@TrishaNP5 жыл бұрын
Two questions regarding fitness and OMAD: Does Deanna lift heavy while fasted? And does she remain fasted post work-out? I'm slowly getting into OMAD, and that's my major concern. I DID buy the Food Fasting Fitness E-book--hopefully the answer is in there! Still need to read it! Maybe that's a concern of other people considering OMAD who weight lift though? Thank you both, so much for sharing this knowledge with us and making it so easy to digest!
@deannamutzeldc63145 жыл бұрын
White Bleeding Heart hi! So I always lift fasted - but I’m very intuitive with what my body needs. Some day I’ll have a little whey protein post workout. Others days I won’t feel the need. On days that I lift heavy and with more volume, I’ll often extend the feeding window to 3-4 hours (2 meals). My point is this- it’s not something that I necessarily do every single day. I’m not strict with the approach because that would be dieting. It’s a tool to evaluate true hunger- and I really try to listen to my body. I will always eat if I truly feel hungry or if my strength isn’t where it should be for a period of time. Journaling can really help with intuition.
@TrishaNP5 жыл бұрын
@@deannamutzeldc6314 Thank you for replying! Journaling as a way to connect with and be more in-tune with your body is something I had never thought of. Will definitely be trying journaling soon. Intuitive eating is a healthier headspace for me, rather than obsessing over the rules/details/restrictions of 'dieting'/diet-culture. But I'm still working on connecting with myself and *really* listening to my body and what it needs. Thank you for being such a grounded judge-free inspiration, and for taking the time to reply. I admire you, so much. --Trisha

I have been doing a keto/Carnivore diet diet for 13 months now. I was eating in an 8-10 hour window, weight training 1 hour full body heavy 2x/week and doing yoga 20-30 minutes 3x/week but plateaued and actually starting regaining weight. I tried narrowing my eating window down to 6 hours and experienced negative gastrointestinal changes (ie bloating, constipation, etc) regardless of taking electrolytes and upping my salt intake. Any suggestions? I have autoimmunity of my gut (no specific diagnosis just Cyrex testing) and hypothyroidism (possibly Hashimoto’s). I stopped taking my compounded thyroid hormone in July due having signs of hyperthyroidism (ie elevated resting HR, diarrhea, etc) and hearing research that it can cause muscle wasting on a ketogenic diet.

Its more likely to develop cancer by eating all that pesticide polluted -trash- green food. And you need to eat that every day. Or you feel hungry. With OMAD, there can be times where you don't eat every single day. Are you really hungry, or is it your eating habit, asking for food? One girl i know, she's just 30 years young, already had cancer. And for the cancer not to return. Every few weeks, she doesn't eat for two to three days. With OMAD you might not even notice that you didn't eat today. But not everyone can refrain from all the trash food, like cake, coke, sweets, wheat products etc. etc. Especially the people with the "VEGAN" mindset.

I am morbidly obese. I have gone cold turkey to Omar. I only eat breakfast, & usually 1000 calories or less. Before I eat I have cayenne tea with lemon. And because it has been 23 +hours since my last meal, I routinely feel dizzy & anxious between the time of consuming tea and b4 I eat. Why ? But I have also made real effort in giving up sugar. The weight is rapidly dropping off, just in the last 6 days. Thanks.
