I got some footage of myself recently, and it was a huge reality check. My actual surfing doesn’t look how I feel it does. It was almost discouraging.

Being able to see yourself on camera, gives you awareness. Even though it doesn't feel good at first, it's a good starting point to get your surfing into the next level.

Hey guys love the detailed analysis u make. It's been giving me a lot of food for thoughts. I am a intermediate surfer scratching the advanced levels, and I've been tripping on button turns done RIGHT, like Ethan Ewing right lol. The thing is that on my last two sessions I actually got it right, but it changed so much my attack on the wave that I now have to rethink how I approach the maneuver. My current goal is a about the right COMPRESSION/EXTENSION ratio done on the right time. I'm seeing myself getting vertical but standing still too tall, instead of compressed, and loosing the time of the maneuver. It went from tall shouldering maneuvering to tall pocket maneuvering, which doesn't work so I'm trying work that specific part out now. So, it'd reaaaaly help to see some compression/extension analysis. Sorry for the long txt. And thank you for the channel!

Would you guys take a surf skate to the new bowl set up and show 2 or 3 exercises to practice a couple hundred times to break common bad habits?

Tony Hawk made skateboard history by bending at the waist. Being 6'3" it was probably necessary. But with surfing bending forward isn't good. I get that.

This has been amazingly useful. I have always chickened out of surfing where the energy is in a wave, ie the vertical part, but that is where the speed is, and therefor the energy and the balance. Definitely going for it next surf, feeling more relaxed, with my coffee cup and my rails and a feeling for the wave. Despite the crowds, which make me tense!

Clayton is establishing a Master and servant relation with Anthony.... because if he really wanted Anthony could become a good surfer within a few REAL tech lessons ....not band aids Anthony in fact the secret is how the surfboard is designed to move freely from carving or turning phenomenon around its stringerfor carving and center of mass for turning. Once you understand how it works with a shaper your body will know what to do. Itsim possible to surf good consistently wirth a zillion toughts. Go to a shaper an ask him how a surfboard "moves water" because there is way more to it. A surfboard is a marvel of fluids ingeniering. Anthony.

I really like what you guys do but the advice on turning and back foot placement is completely wrong. This is the mistake most surfers make… they turn with their front foot…and when they catch the rail they wonder why… it is because there was too much rail in the water which is why you turn with your back foot! I am talking about a carving turn here… not a trim turn (up and down). On a short board you simply need to shift your weight to your back foot. On a longer board you will have to move your foot all the way back to the back of board. Once the direction is changed then you switch back to your front foot for speed. You step on the back to disengage some of the rail so you don’t dig it!
