Omega Speedmaster Racing White Dial Review

Hello all, here's my review of the Speedmaster White Dial Racing. It's a beautiful watch with a lot of thoughtful detail, and and superior Calibre 9900 Movement. I also give a short history of the Omega's Racing series. Enjoy!

Thoughts on the look of the end links? The center end link not extending out from the case beyond the lugs looks odd to these eyes.

I have really found this watch to be very well balanced. Of course wrist size and shape would make a difference, but sits perfect on my 7 1/2 inch wrist, and a friend of mine that also has one finds it perfect on his 7 inch wrist.

I been to my AD twice to try this piece on, I really like it. The concern I have is the 50m water resistance. My luck I get stuck in a rain shower, should this be a concern?

It really is a great watch on so many levels.....but I like a watch to have at least 100 Meter Water Resistance. Getting caught in the rain should never be an issue on ay watch with a water resistance rating.

Fantastic review, thank you. I’ve been so close to pulling the trigger on this beauty, but have been hesitant due to size. I have 7 inch wrists and wear the Seamaster smp 300m and an Explorer II without issue. Fit pretty close to them? Thanks!

Thanks for watching Nick! If you could wear the Explorer II with no issue, you should have no problem with this. Definitely see if you could try one on in store though, it's a big investment, you want to make sure you'll be happy. Let me know what you think when you get it!

@@DougFNJ Hey Doug, have you had any trouble reading the elapsed minutes on the subdial when timing something? I love this watch a lot and for me it wears so well. However, I really am finding that I struggle to read the elapsed minutes on the subdial. Particularly when the counter is at an odd number, such as 7 or 13. I really have to squint to see it, and even then I'm often wrong.. Any suggestions, or maybe I just need glasses... Thanks.

I've been in the market for a white dial. The Tudor chrono "panda" caught my eye, but they are impossible to find. It appears they are employing the same market manipulation tactics of the mother ship. A IWC Mark XVIII was next, but it was boring and at 40mm had the wrist presence of a 36. Had given up until I spotted this at my local AD. It seems well designed and fits my 7 1/2" wrist perfectly. I'm taking the weekend to mule it over, but it's tempting.

This one gets plenty of love. First time I saw an Omega watch with a wait list. It’s not long, but it exists. Regarding Speedy or AT, 2 totally different watches. I encourage you to go to an Omega store and try both, go with what feels best. The only thing that bothers me about the Speedy is lack of water resistance.

@@nickkern2309 Get some bifocal reading glasses - pretty cheap - so you can see your watch and then can see normal without always having to put on and take off your glasses. You only need them for the chrono function. It's not the fault of the watch, our eyes just don't work that well when we get older. I have a Daytona and it's pretty much unreadable without some sore of reading glasses. Thinking about picking up the orange hands version of this watch so I can at least tell the time without reading glasses.

I felt the same way, so I tried one on yesterday. It wears like a 42. Lug to lug it's less than 50 and with the turned down lugs it wears smaller but has great wrist presence. I wish the clasp had a longer range of adjustments (like my Seamaster) but if I get one it will probably end of on a NATO most of the time anyway, especially when it's warmer out and my wrist swells.

I think this watch looks fantastic, but I’m also worried that it might be too big for my wrist. I don’t have an AD nearby so I can’t try it on. The only other Omega I own is a Seamaster 300 Heritage. It fits fine, but it’s smaller than this watch, right?

MADE IN CHINA is 'what it is' when china-produced parts are 'assembled in Switzerland'. Swiss law has NO COMMAND over the language itself, Swiss or English, so over "50% of the watch's value deriving from Switzerland" (LAW), satisfied by the mere minute long 200 Euro/hr act of Swiss workers ASSEMBLING the china-parts, DOESNT make it "made in Switzerland", nor "Swiss made", which makes the WHOLE THING A DAMNED LIE, FRAUD. "Sharp edges" on the case and the bracelet, some say, and I beleive them. Not buying the damn thing. Listen up, watch-guys and -gals.

Im not sure why they call it white face dial , I don’t see a white dial on it , it’s more like grey a really soft grey that it looks like a whit but not white , on the date window there you can see the difference cos it’s white .

Looking at it very closely, you can see the gray, but from normal distances, totally comes across as white. Regardless, it's an incredibly well executed finish. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment Daniel
