I guess when you've experienced loneliness and disappointments in your life, they just stay there inside you forever, and a movie experience like this brings them to the fore and the natural human reaction is to cry.

My father (Nov 12, 1939 - Sept 5, 2017) joined the record club when I was about 8 years old in order to get the Dr. Hook album with Sylvia's Mother. He was a country music fan, but for some reason, this song touched him, and it played in our home for years. Like everyone else commenting, I was caught off guard, and the waterworks are flowing. When the buyer invited her in, she said that she had to go because it was going to rain, that's part of the lyrics to the song. Bravo to the writers and to the actress, well done again, Omeleto!
@HypoplasticRightMama3 жыл бұрын
This film wouldn't have been the same without Dr Hook and Sylvia's Mother. This song means so much to me in real life and I still have multiple copies, one for every vehicle and vinyl to play while I'm puttering through the house. Music really does have a way of working on the soul. Richard did an amazing job bringing that feeling to life in the film.

I actually hit this video by mistake, I had been reaching for a different one, but thought, what the heck, I’ll just watch this. I have decided that these mistakes are the universe nudging me in little ways. I’m never disappointed. What did surprise me was the level of attachment I felt for the characters. My problem with short stories is usually the lack of characters and their history, but I felt a part of every adventure and trip taken in Sylvia, so I was also a part of Sabrina’s journey and was not surprised when she left Sylvia with only one case and the teddy. The reading of the letter was what started the waterworks and I went straight into the ugly cry with hiccups and the whole nine yards. Seeing the after story was such a beautiful closing to this fabulous short. I know nothing about it, but I hope this wins you many awards and helps you on your path. That's the moment when I'm praying for something to be there after death, as the thought that people should go through such pain, and then just die, is unbearable! I recently loss my dad and this short film hit me hard. because I had to give away his beloved drum set. I too wrote a message to the person who took my dad's set. However, I know that the person who has it know will treat/play the drums well. Especially because he knew how hard it was for me to let it go. My connection with my dad was music. he was a drummer and I am a bassist.

This was a lovely and heart wrenching short film based on a true story! Attachment! I am thankful that I did not have loves one to die tragically but we had to say farewell to our car last year. It was faithful to us for many many years and we drove it for thousands of miles. The car finally did not pass inspection but still was drivable. We were forced to buy a brand new car. We were thankful to have the resources but we mourned the loss of our old car. There were so many special and loving memories. I am, happy that the real owner of Sylvia was able to be reunited. I hope that her loving memories of her children and mother are overflowing!

Some things are just things, objects that we use and discard, quickly forgotten. But some things are filled with memories, with the souls of those who were loved, cherished, closely held. The thing is, we never know which is which. Not everything comes with a note. So treat everything...every thing...with respect.
