After founding Toontown, Jesse Schell left Walt Disney Imagineering to become a professor of Entertainment Technology at Carnegie Mellon University and create his own game studio, Schell Games. Jesse continues to follow Toontown and its fans today in hopes of officially bringing it back, and is an active supporter of Toontown Rewritten. You may have even seen him running around town on his red rabbit, Jaymo!

Am I the only one who thinks there is a simple solution to bringing back toontown online? By doing just a few commercials on the Disney Channel. That's how I found toontown originally when I was super young. And I've been playing it for years now. I mean think of how many viewers the Disney Channel has. And I'm sure people would subscribe to the monthly service after that. Heck, id probably pay $50 a month if it meant the original toontown was back. Am I the only one who thinks this?

Honestly they should have billboard advertising in the game in which you can view in the news, if it does come back then they need to have it free, but you can buy items, jellybeans, new houses, new doodles, boxes that have random items in it and you have a chance to get a rare item, new characters, or even new estates. They could really use some micro transactions because I am willing to throw $10+ at it if they had miro transactions and they were consistent with updating the game and managing it well. Now another thing they could do is go all wizards/pirates 101 on us where you pay like $5 a month for access to all of the areas or you pay like $3 per area with exception of TTC and donalds dock being free, but I still don't see use in that because your still having to throw money at the game that people don't want to spend.

No. Nobody should have to pay to "win" or in this case progress. If I put in $10 - 15 a month on toontown, everything that involves in-game perks like estates or gags or whatever should be earnable and free. Too many games make you pay to win and If toontown did that, it would be just another cookie cutter piece of crap :/

Jesse Schell 2015 "there's no way I'm letting go of tto it means way too much to me and I can wait, we will find a way; you be patient too". This plus the "Unannouced MMORPG" Disney are still yet to annouce (its not disney infinite because that appear alongside 2.0 and this unknown mmorpg on the documents for release + E3), the fact they're still using the servers and site as well; despite backing out on 2 E3's... There's something going on here. I lost hope after they skipped the 2nd E3 in 2015 but it feels as if there's something still alive Jesse is holding out on. Presuming this started in 2013-2014 a game usually takes from 2-3 to 6-10 years to make so... about 1-2 years have passed so far, so at least we have about 3-4 years to wait and that's IF it isn't using tt2 stuff from 2010's hints AND no early hype annoucements. Either way, I'm keeping hope. Call me a fool but I see a silver lining here.

Travis.T 777 Thanks. Meanwhile I also played the toontown infinite and re-written games (i am aware of the rumors about both btw) and I enjoy them each for their own reasons. It does feel like there's a toontown 2 out there but it's taking a long time to get perfect. Like world of warcraft did, team fortress 2 did and many others. More time equal a better chance for a good game. Besides, in the world we live in today; you really need to be a toon to get through and laugh :D

Lol Lol Yeah. So far since 2015 the disney "Unannouced mmorpg" in the C.V.'s of recently employed workers appeared on "ugly corny's" site from disney, the same guy talking about toontown 2 ages ago. What's weird is, nothing has been mentioned and it was supposed to be annouced at the disney expo twice in 2015 and once 2016; but all we got was disney infinity. I would say that's the same game, but "disney infinity 2.0" was also on the resumé. Meanwhile whatever disney is running behind their curtains, is using the same toontown website; server and potco and pixie hollow servers as well. It's all suspect... The weirdest thing is letting ppl play a scrapped unity project of it. Id that good or bad? And this is research Ugly corny has done and I've remembered from his site ( despite now being missing) since 2010 - 2016.

This was great! One thing i'm concerned about though, is the concept of mobile Toontown. I'd certainly find that less fun (or at least I think I would), so hopefully TTR would be allowed to stay up too...

Hey jesse.So about you bringing back TTO I have something to say that I really want to see and other peeps to.So I was wondering if you can make an option that you can login to Toontown online with your toontown rewritten username and password and save your rewritten toons.I really like my toons on toontown rewritten,espically Kevin The Bunny,and I really dont want to lose him, along with my other toons. So can you try to make that option like your doing with toontown online to get your toontown online acount back? I would love it if you did. Toontown was closed in 2013. The whole point of Jesse is that he's been trying to get Toontown 2 greenlit.

autosaver Well here's the thing. Toontown 2 is mobile compatible and the prototype footage and released content shows that its more or less the same game just more interactive. The weird thing is that jesse schell said he's planning on when to contact disney at the best time and disney is trying to make thier noline games mobile friendly; but because their only online game now (Club penguin) is actually dropping in players, they need to find another game to keep it up. Disney Interactive has told everyone "we aren't gone despite the situation, but moving towards third party developers where we can release games through that way". Here's the cool thing. Disney 1. want a game that mobile friend. 2. a game they can support in 3rd party. 3. an online game that people would enjoy. 4. a game that has potential. Toontown online has all of these points ticked off; the only thing now is when it will be started. The icing on the cake however is this "Disney allowed the toontown 2 prototype to be downloaded". at first I thought this was bad news, like they abandoned it but; disney never NEVER let people have stuff they didn't release. Makes you wonder if even disney are willing to make toontown 2 real.

By Toontown 2 I meant an actual Toontown 2 and not the prototype. That prototype is most likely dead since it uses an older engine.

autosaver Well yeah in a sense it is. But the new toontown will be inspired by both TTO and tt2 anyway and since tt2 never came out; it could still be labelled tt2. But despite this I'm with you on the names. If anything it would likely be called "Toontown Online: ReTooned" or similar.
