The biggest issue is still the exit of the track. the traffic jam is insane and it makes no sense to drive through the parking area! Even if it's calm to get on track; it's almost always an issue to get off track. It's also rather bad for the car if you need to go directly in stop-start-stop traffic straight after a lap. The brakes, the engine..they are all so hot. Me personally I almost overheated my clutch (manual) last weekend because of the long queue straight after a lap. So Nürburgring if you ask more money; great...but fix this exit problem in return!

If they make the exit more efficient, everyone will get back on track faster and it will be one long traffic jam. No, the problem is opening times. There is too much demand. They need to have the track open longer, maybe even 24h, on weekends, and all day on weekdays. This way traffic will have the chance to distribute itself over larger timespans, and waiting in line at track exit will occur less often.

They could bring back the "half season card", or a 50 laps card or something similar, so you get a discount per lap, but the total is a bit more acceptable to pay for at once.

It really depends how you look at this. If you are an average person making average wages, such high increase might make it impossible for you to buy the season ticket. If you already have money for a Porsche 911 GT3 RS, then probably this increase doesn't matter to you at all. Of course, driving the Nordschleife is expensive, but do we want to make it harder for people to get in, making it only a hobby for the super rich, or, do we want to make it possible for regular people to drive on the ring as well? I'm always leaning towards the average people's side. The total costs are quite high already, why make it even higher with such high increase? The benefits are nice, but they don't really offset the costs at all. E.g. could I get cheaper accommodation, food, gas, etc.?
@trollingmopho

It’s easy: everybody’s talking about it as if the Nürburgring would be interested in making people happy. They just want to make money. They’ve seen massive traffic jams throughout the whole season so the demand is high and they’re able to raise the price. Then they don’t spend any money on shit they don’t HAVE TO spend money on to keep the operation running, because they don’t need to. They do the absolute minimum to get the absolute maximum of money. From a business perspective it seems to be a good decision.

i do understand the point about lots of people doing over 200 laps on a season ticket. but in the last season, it was actually not that easy to get more then 10 laps a day in because of the traffic jams and all the accidents, yellows and closures on busy days. im sure there are many people who wouldve considered a season ticket (like myself) but i only can afford like maybe 4-6 weekend trips a year and i wouldnt get to the brake even point with those. now that a lap is 35€ i defenetly will drive less laps and therefore would get even further away from the b.e. point. im just a regular working guy so for me 250€ per month for a Nürburgring season is quite a lot of money. the nice little discounts arent too bad but honestly many people probably have allready done the things they offer or are not interested since there are so many different options there outside of Nürburgring official sources. (like Restaurants, hotels, Bars) the 10% on most of these things arent gonna win anyone over. the wealthier people wont care, they will get thier season ticket but i think a lot of average guys will not pay that much and they will cut down thier Nürburgring time for the year. i know i have to anyhow.
@m0LN4r
@m0LN4r Жыл бұрын
Thats the point. Selling it to rich people, which leads to less average poeple, which leads to less trafic, which leads to more fun for the rich people, which leads to more profit, nicer cars and less work. It is like selling watches. You can sell 1000 watches for 99$ or just sell one "Rolex" to a rich guy for 500.000$. They want us regulars to be on the spectator side. There is no other way to put this.
@chublez
@chublez Жыл бұрын
@@m0LN4r I don't live on the correct side of the globe to take advantage of such a cheap and available resource as the ring. After 6years there's a 16%(2.6%/yr) increase on a lap and 36%(6%/yr) increase on a season pass that it sounds like plenty of people where getting well more than their moneys worth from. Considering the costs associated with running a car will easily dwarf the season pass seems like a small price bump to me. Track time over here is much more expensive and much less available. If you where getting in the needed laps before all the season pass guys have any grounds to complain about is the regular cost increase being 1/3 the percentage. I assume this place costs money to operate this jump seems like an attempt for operators to close the gap on the guys getting well more than the break even laps. how much this may or may not unfairly tax season pass holders doing less to make up for those doing 500+laps(costs to under $6/lap then btw) is debatable. In the end the per lap price increase is far less than inflation was here for the last year let alone 6. If the new season pass price now doesn't work for you since you where barely doing enough laps to justify it simply don't buy it. Also to yer "keep the regulars on the spectator side" theory. Have you considered maybe they're just trying to get everyone to do less laps, to reduce the traffic problem? If anything these rate changes seem to favor the less wealthy person who couldn't justify a season pass to begin with as their rate increase was smaller.

The problem is not 5€/lap or 500€/year. In a more or less standard track car (eg M3) one lap was last years around 100€ (all costs inkluded except depreciation). Next year it will be around 125€ due to increased prices everywhere. Plus accomodiation plus food, beverages etc. A full weekend with lets say 30 laps will decrease your wallet by around 5k€. Yes, I still love it and will come back, but maybe not that often.

Nürburgring doesn't have true competition so the fact that they don't hike prices more in this monopoly situation is actually pretty nice. It would be nice to have cheaper prices that that's not required. The only issue I have is only having the option to get a single lap ticket vs full season pass. How about single weekend unlimited laps pass or single week unlimited laps pass?

What if you (like in the pandemic) do lapticket-checks at the roundabout entrence to the DD carpark and the only way to get on it is after you did a lap. Then you convert the secound entry lane that goes right „behind“ DD to an exit lane directly off the track and you install a laserbarrier for counting the cars on the carpark, if its full you use a redlight to close the carpark and move all cars straight ahead out through the exit.(there is allways a marshall there anyway who could enforce this) then noone can go 100 times around devilsdiner and block the traffic coming off the track. I think this would be a quick temporary solution to get the queue down atleast a bit. Only downside to the current way is that the taxis woud have to do a lap of the roundabout🤓

I don’t like the increase and I really did not like the whole traffic-situation this year, but in the end I’m going to get a JK again next season…all in all it’s still worth it - especially if you do a couple of hundred laps. But even if you‘re only doing 70-80 laps I’d say it’s worth it! In my first JK-season I did 70 laps…so one could say it would have been smarter to pay for each lap, but it’s the other way around! With a JK you’re just way more relaxed. If there’s yellow, you don’t care that much…if someone refuses to let you pass, it’s okay. With a JK you don’t think „I wanna get the most out of the 30 bucks I paid for this lap“. So to me it’s quite clear that I’m gonna buy it…even if I’m not sure if I’ll do over 100 laps next season or not. It just feels better.

The economy of local ski resorts can work here too) The bottom line is that from a certain number of people, queues for the lift begin to accumulate, the skiing time decreases, etc., etc.. How is the situation with leaving the track, for example. And the resolution of these problems requires serious investments with a long payback period - the construction of new lifts or the modernization of existing ones. BUT! If you raise prices, then nothing will change financially for the resort, but for consumers (due to a decrease in the number of visitors), you will get the impression that the price increase has led to a decrease in queues for improving overall service)) This is how customer focus improves without changing anything globally) Of course, the general increase in prices for fuel and auto components will lead to an increase in the average ticket for visiting the track even without a ticket.

From a marshals standpoint LED flag panels would be awesome! There are posts (like 157, Wippermann entry) that drivers almost never recognize, even if its the green flag at the END OF CODE 60! Drivers are extremely slow and looking for nothing but the green flag. But I fully understand the cost involved in that makes it close to impossible. Even for events like the DTM on the "small" GP circuit, the race series brings light panels for the track (at least Im quite sure, also why would they dismantle them after races if it was Nürburgring equipment. That doesnt even include the massive amount of wiring required. Very good and informative content as always.

Benefits is just an other word for, make more profit. The benefits are not Free, you pay for them with the higher price, but if you don´t need any of the benefits, then u are just screwed. I bought a NB GP Track ticker, just to wait 90 Minutes in line and did not drive at all at the end and I did not get my money back... There were sold too much tickets, than the Time and Track could handle. The same goes for the NOS. Sometimes there is so much traffic, obviously they let too much cars on, to maximise profit, but it is like driving in sunday traffic for 30€. It needs to be much much better organised. And the exiting line, OMG. With overheated car, waiting 15 minutes in line. The owner (2/3) is a Billionaire!

For those not going for a jahreskarte, and have jobs that only allow them to go on weekends, the price increase is also pretty drastic. If I was going to do 10 laps per weekend, a weekend now costs me 50 euros more. If I can go 10 weekends a year, that's 500euros per year, which with old pricing would have gotten me 16 laps more, which could have been two more weekends.

I think that the focus point is not really about those people who can afford to drive 200-300 laps or more a year on 50k€+ cars. Of course for them there is no difference at all. The focus point of the problem is completely about all the locals, the wide majority of them non indigenous, who aims to drive around 100-150 laps a year in little cars making life compromises to be able to reach that amount of driving (that is kinda the minimum amount one should drive to make it worth living around the track since otherwise there isn't anything really interesting around here). All those people will never get back the 800€ through the benefits because they already must not spend that money in order to lap the Nordschleife as much as they want. For all those people it's only a disadvantage. And as pointed out by others the safety measures are not yet adequate to the traffic and speed of average TF days, with deadly consequences sometimes, with missing yellow flags even minutes after a pile up in an area where a warning panel and camera were already present (so a safety system could be even fully automatized using "modern" technology).

The price going up isn't ideal; but the price increase is pretty much inline with all of the other madness going on, and as you say track access isn't the largest line item on a lap and when you are doing 500 laps on a season ticket at 3k, that's 6 euros per lap for access. After watching a number of cars you've driven basically cook themselves while waiting to leave is likely to either damage cars or cause track problems - access should be a much larger consideration than it currently is for TF, especially as that is likely one of the biggest day to day usages. I really hope the increased price is reflected in the quality of track and amenities surrounding it.

so if you went under the week the season card payed off at 88 laps and on weekends at 73 laps. now its 83 under the week and 71 on weekends if you get the card in time, if not, its 100 laps under the week and 86 on weekends

Good points and well said, I am pretty sure that having days for season card holders isn't going to happen as the Nürburgring have always endorsed the tourist driver and that its for everyone. You are talking about people that are doing 300/500 laps in a McLaren paying peanuts for them and getting private track time. If they start that it goes against most of what they have stood behind the last years.

The price of the season ticket isn't unreasonable - but it's irrelevant for many if not most in that we are not insured. And this is largely due to Nurburgring legacy 'crash' prices from way back in the 2000's-2010, and then the great Phlanzgarten 3 crash of 2010 after which UK insurance companies banned it completely, and over time so many other countries have followed suit. So all that remains are the trackdays for many of us where our medical liability is at least covered and the local road laws do not apply. The infrastructure of the TF car park has been overwhelmed for years now, but at least we have a rollercoaster.

In 2019, i did 1 trackday (skylimit) for something like 700€ trackday fee. On this they i did ca. 28 Laps. with the travel to the ring an back (250 km one way) i totally used like 6 tanks of fuel (6x55 Liter Ultimate 102, 6x 80€= 240€. I used 1 set of brake pads front ~ 200€. I used 1/4 a set of 265/35R18 AR1 - 200€. Hotel 1 night: 120€. Quick Math.: 1500€. One day cost half the cost of a season ticket. The season ticket is still a good deal.

First world problems 🤣Anyone doing enough laps yearly at the Nur to consider one of these passes is obviously not driving a 50hp, 2k euro car (maybe with the exception of a handful of dudes with a great sense of humour - those guys should get special discounts, like the Saxo guy and similar cases -). Their yearly fuel bills - and general maintenance - even aside from Nur laps must be quite sobering and while 2 - 3k euro is no joke, it sounds intelligently priced. My only qualms would be the profit to investment ratio. If they're making a killing and investing the strict minimum while more and more users are there, then debate could be a healthy thing going forward. With things the way they are though, more and more people are getting kicked out of the fun car club anyway and this will be purely elitist in a matter of a few years so it's really no biggie and is of concern to very few people in the grand scheme of things. Those who can't afford it will do what they have always done, find a quiet road and have a bit of fun without going warp speed at the car's very limits. No harm, much less cost. They can always do the occasional Nur lap here and there and join clubs to have the occasional laps at their local tracks. Nur season pass holders should get quite a few days to themselves though, nicely spread out throughout the year to give everyone a chance to be free for those days and enjoy more laps with more mindful, experienced drivers. Too many blockers and aloof drivers on public days, not cool at all for those who spend so much paying in advance for a pass... My 25 cents 🙂

Hello Comrade 👍 I appreciate your take on this topic as always. I find it a bit loughable that they are now offering a "Personalised" fancy JK with ones picture on it to justify the considerable price hike as if it's someting New & Fancy 🙈🤣 Hmmmm... 🤔 I have at least two old JKs from years gone by with my mug on them but then I've been comming to the NR since 2005 so most people wouldn't remember that far. 😉 My last visit was mid 2020 and the entrance / exit situation that has always been an issue, has gone from bad to unbearable. To this day there's still no viable solution to this "Elephant in the room" problem and I get a distinctive feeling it's not much of a priority for NR GmbH.

Misha you are the reason why I want to go to the Nürburgring, and some day I will go, and drive like 12 laps, but in my opinion 35 euros per lap, is to much money, the trip to the Nürburgring is so expensive that many people dont go because of the money and in my case, I am so afraid to crach the car, but my problem is not the car is the money to fix lets say the berrier, our towing truck, is just not cool !

A lot of JK owners drive high end cars that pay almost 3000 euro for one set of tyres or the locals that do 2-300 laps each year, they will still buy the JK no problem. The DH exit should be fixed asap, at least when it's busy get everybody directed to the roundabout and further away maybe with an extra exit. It's pointless letting them on the current size of parking that's full already and then create massive traffic jams.

You mentioned at least twice that with the season ticket you have *unlimited* driving. That might be misleading to some viewers. It's "only" unlimited while TF. What about the TF amount in 2023? Increase or decrease? I guess the track gets more and more busy by e.g. industry pool etc. What about goodies for season ticket owners such as full lap (with GP track) events?

Seems to me like the benefits for the Season Pass outway the added costs in the current market. BUT! They should fix the problems with the track that you mentioned. Besides this, the benefits are huge, the question ist do you use them and will you spend enought time at the Ring to get to almost or above 100laps at the track. Not for me but it's seems ok to me! I understand that the price increase upsets people, but if you have the privilege to live close to the track and to drive it on a daily (or even weekly) basis you should be thankful for that. A publicly accessible track is something that exists in very few places and most of the time its in track day form, so its less casual and accessible to most people. Also maintaining a track is incredibly expensive and with energy prices increasing by a large percentage it makes that even more expensive. I hope to one day have the privilege to drive the track frequently :)

I think the pricing for what you get is actually fair. The only problem i have is that it only really benefits people that can go to the ring quite often and use all the stuff you mentioned. I won't use most of it and prefer to tip at a diner then to ask for a discount. The offer is great, i just wish there was a week or weekend card (3 days), a 10 or 30 day unlimited or monthly option for driving only available. I can only manage to visit the Ring a view long weekends a year. So i can't get much use out of a season pass, but i don't mind the single lap price too much either. I just want the convenience and having a collectable like a card is nice too. I really liked the concept at Rock am Ring, Rock im Park where you bought a wristband with money on it and could pay everything. Having a card for let's say 1k i can use for 20 to 30 labs and use as cash around the Ring would be a nice compromise between pure driving and fully socialize around the Ring. The App and user accounts are a good step and let you do most of what i mentioned already, but this might be helpfull. It would also be nice if you could register a day in the sense that i suggest or tell the App/Ring when i will be at the Ring and it roughly tells me how many people will be there. Distributing people will help but not solve the exit problem. This might also help organizing season pass only, oldtimer, fast car events where you give certain target groups a much better experience.

To be honest i would expect more.. If someone can have 500 laps... that means 10000 km !! (equivalent to 1000-3000 lt of fuel... ((up to 5000 euros fuels depending on the car!) + tires + servicing + a lot more.... IF you are driving 911GT3 would cost a lot per year for 10000!! IF this amount goes to improving the circuit + security in case of accident it fine..

You're wrong. Higher prices can mean less traffic and these are big advantages because it's better to pay 35 euros and have a free track than to pay 25 euros or less and have a lot of traffic which is also dangerous. They should introduce more expensive VIP tickets with a limited number of cars in a lap so you can go and time a lap.

The marketing and guest relations could do a lot better job of informing their patrons of when they plan to rectify the well known and dangerous infrastructure that’s long past it’s replacement date. Queues on the track are very dangerous, the issue of the exit should be addressed immediately or restriction of numbers on the track put in place to mitigate the situation. Prices go up across the board, but please try telling the world when your going to fix the problems!
