I like how they got Jude Law's character to outright say he's not a Jedi instead of pretending its some big reveal in a much later episode. The characters (most of them anyway) were smart enough to see through his BS and made the "I don't like you, you don't like me, but we're working towards the same goal" type of deal with each other. I'm not very good at explaining stuff like this, but hopefully my thoughts were conveyed clear enough to understand.
@bambinoitaliano6848Ай бұрын
That's what make this series good to watch. The viewers like the characters are not being treated like idiots being drag along to stretch out the plot.
@Knightowl1980Ай бұрын
Yes!!! This has been my issue definitely with the acolyte but Star Wars in general is that they keep these “mysteries” going not out of story necessity but just bc they can for no reason, it’s lazy writing. They just withhold stuff for no reason and they use that to propel the story instead of it forming the story

I still belive he is Jedi trained. I think he was either a youngling that escaped order 66 or the padawan of a Jedi who escaped but died before Jude Laws character finished their training.
@gerardlacroix6015Ай бұрын
@@truthseekercanada This. My guess is he escaped and got picked up by pirates, becoming one on his own, and now meeting the kids brings him back to these early days. He'll probably betray them, then finally help them in the end, redeeming himself. Also... "Sylvo" ? "Jon Na Nawood" ? "Jon" "Sylvo" ? The dude is literally "John long Silver" from Treasure Island.

That was Alfred Molina voicing the chap that stopped him when he rescued SM33. That means that he made a deal with the pirates to share the bounty but it went wrong when the fuel line was attached. So much fun.

Can we take a moment to appreciate all the practical effects this show is giving us? It's a welcome break for all the CGI. "How many names does this guy have?" Probably as many as Ezra Bridger, maybe more.
@AlexanderWanderingАй бұрын
I think it's spelled "Sylvo" but he's definitely a take on "Long John Silver." This is really turning into a new take on Treasure Planet (which is a new take on Treasure Island, lol). So he will definitely have an ulterior motive, plan on betraying them, actually betray them at some point, but eventually have a change of heart and be on their side.

your mishearing of Silvo as Silver made me realize how similar it is to Long John Silver, the main antagonist of Treasure Island. I wouldn't make that connection if not for SM33 (Smee), it makes me think some of the naming is based on classic adventure novels that may have also been adapted by Disney
@kirkdarling4120Ай бұрын
Sure, I caught both of those instances that seem to be references to the pirate genre, but of course, "pirate genre" was explicit from the start. Also, "Crimson Jack" is the name of a pirate from early Star Wars comics.
@lucasdolding6924Ай бұрын
Yeah I caught the Silvo/Silver connection when they first name dropped him in episode 1, makes the whole looking for lost treasure in a mysterious place, hidden by fog/nebula that much more prevalent.

An observation, from an economic standpoint: The two key factors that affect value are supply & demand. So imagine you had a world that was your galaxy’s commerce center, and was where the vast majority of your reserve currency were stored. Now, imagine that world was suddenly cut off from the rest of civilization. This would have two very different effects: it would drastically increase the value of currency across the galaxy, while simultaneously drastically *reducing it* on that world. So when Wim’s dad gave him those credit ingots for his lunch money, it was probably pocket change to them, but anywhere else in the galaxy Wim’s lunch money for a week is a king’s ransom. This is because credits are in ridiculous overabundance on At Attin, to the point where their entire government workforce is now constructed around literally just counting and re-counting the money and tracking how it circulates. The world doesn’t appear to have any real natural resources other than the forests, which don’t seem to be particularly exploited at the moment. And the planet has been doing this for so long, with no contact with the outside, that no one knows what that money is actually worth anymore. And if the Supervisor is a droid or computer system, as many speculate, it could be stuck in a loop, following its two final prime directives from the Republic: manage the money and restrict access to the planet. But there’s a big problem looming here: if this is the case, were the planet to re-enter the galactic stage, it could potentially completely destabilize the New Republic by devaluing the currency to near-worthlessness.
@betaichАй бұрын
One flaw with your theory: The merchant in the 2nd episode clearly recognized the money as old republic credits, so there must have been at least 1 if not more money changes, would also be logical, republican credits to imperial credits etc
@fusionaddictАй бұрын
@ Not sure how it’s a flaw. Old Republic Credits likely still spend, the same way an old Wheat Cent or a Bicentennial Quarter or Susan B Anthony Dollar. And the pirate identified it easily, remarking mainly on how it’s in mint condition. Most Old Republic Credits in circulation are likely well-worn and being de-circulated by the reserve, in the same way as old US bills & coins. Old Republic Credits are likely uncommon, but mint or near-mint ones are likely quite rare. But keep in mind it’s only been 30 years since the end of the Old Republic, Old Republic currency is likely still in wide circulation, especially on worlds that escaped direct Imperial control. When money designs are changed, old, obsolete currency is collected by the banks and sent to the mint for recycling. Old coins are electrolytically processed and melted down, and bills are shredded & pulped. This is how certain coins gain extra value beyond their face, as certain designs become more rare and therefore desirable. But if you take that super-rare coin and spend it at the grocery store, it’s still only actually representing its face value.
@betaichАй бұрын
@@fusionaddict I meant money reform sorry non native i wasn't coming up with the right language, may country changed currencya lot, every time the old bills were not only pulled from circulation but were not accepted in shops anymore. 2 times it happened after war and once after a regime change, like we had in the galaxy far far away, so old currency might not have value as a currency anymore

A) I hope this gets renewed as it’s been a total blast and b) I hope the other Star Wars creators are taking notice that Star Wars is supposed to be a fun ride despite the serious story. “Bad episodes” tend to be boring which this has not been……

I'm wondering if Palpatine would've known about At Attin as a leader of the republic and then the emperor. I think it'd be cool if whoever the Supervisor is, is maybe an old operative of Palpatine's, and At Attin ends up being what helps fun the First Order. But that might be a bit grim for a more kid-oriented show.
@EagleFangBasketball2222 күн бұрын
I don't know if it's related to the First Order or any sequel trilogy nonsense, but you're right that the Supervisor could be a former imperial officer who's still loyal to Palpatine.

The kids knew nothing about the war. The adults on At Attin were still speaking of the Republic. I'm still convinced no more than perhaps the top cabal on the planet (which might include Wem's father) is aware of what has transpired in the larger galaxy, and the Great Work is probably just "make work" to keep the population busy and unaware that they're being held prisoners on the planet for their own protection. The caution point for us as the audience, though, is that we _know_ they're better off staying unknown behind their barrier...because the rest of the galaxy is still a mess.

@@bursegsardaukarthis just made me think of something that happened in the first episode, and it brings up an interesting point. Wim is playing with a “dark” and a “light” jedi toy in our first glimpse of him. I noticed it on the first watch but didn’t really make any connection or even think about it until you said “what he thought was a jedi”, but the “dark” jedi with the red lightsaber won his play fight. Considering the high regard he holds “jedi” and how he sees them as heroic protectors, that has very interesting implications about the society he comes from. It’s probably nothing, but what if his society sees the sith as the “good guys”?
