A superb tour to a fascinating place full of some great machines. Would Love to visit Andy's someday. BTW The Bad Norton was the Jubilee and not the Navigator as you mentioned. Most of the Jubilee's faults were corrected on the Navigator that made it a better bike which runs and performs well from what i understand. Not to mention Velo's are Great Bikes too. ❤

I have to disagree with you on the Navigator being Nortons most shameful effort, that surely must go to the truly awful Jubilee. At least the Navigator got a set of "Roadholders" and just enough power to get out of its own way. Very much enjoyed the tour, that lovely old maroon Speed Twin would be my pick.

Bizzarely, my wife and I were out for a run in the car yesterday, up near Loch Tay in Perthshire. Heading home we caught up with a guy on an old British bike - the reg was OXS 372. I overtook the guy and it was a 500cc AJS from 1948 (according to DVLA database) - just like Peter's, also OXS reg. ! . What a coincidence coming across this video by chance, the following day..............think I'll nip out and buy a lottery ticket !

I'd have to go with dads bikes. The Panther or the 1000cc BSA even though dads was a flat tanker. Both had chairs. The Panther carted Dad and Mum and my two brothers to the beach and back, and chugged slowly up steep hills getting vapor lock in the Australian summer heat.

I've never been to Andys shop, but have watched quite a few of his video's, and am impressed by both the bikes, and the manner in which he and Peter describe them - a double act indeed which is ideal for what they are selling. Andy's place is fascinating to people like me who've been into bikes since the last real hey day of the 1970's / Sheene era - but i worry about the future of UK motorcycling because the trade is dying - very few young kids are interested in bikes nowadays. And that's the problem, which is also affecting the classic bike market with the recent fall in values for most machines. While his old ramshackle and disorganised shop is "trendy" businesses ran like that today can only survive because they own their premises outright and have very low overheads. The classic scene will have to adapt to the way society is changing if its going to survive, let alone prosper......

@thomasnoon9974 Andy sells on average 10-15 bikes a week, every week. Bikes don't hang around there long! I worked for Andy for 27 years, every winter through to late spring as my main work (Earthmoving) is seasonal. The original "Classic" bikes are still in very high demand with prices being stable. The new, modern classics have taken a big tumble price wise. I recently bought a 2019 650 Interceptor with just less than 7.000 mikes in the clock for £2400, I resold it for £3250 quite quickly as I already own a 2022 650 Interceptor' You say his place is ramshackle and disorganised, Although it appears that way, we know where everything is! There is actually quite a bit of organisation in that madness! I often get approached by younger riders quizzing me about what i'm riding, they have a genuine interest in bikes in general and their numbers are higher than you think!

@@Volcanicbrown1878 I've been in the motor trade since 1987 after working in Engineering (Shipyards and North Sea Oil Rigs) running a very busy specialist garage for 30 years until selling the workshops for housing, and so know what an organised Engineering shop looks like . . My first love was always bikes, and instead of retiring, I wanted to run a little - and stress free - Bike Shop for a few years, not to make money (because there isn't any in it compared with being a landlord or other more sought after business's) but to have fun at the end of my working life, doing enjoyable jobs and meeting decent customers . . So I kept one of the old workshops and fitted it out nicely as a wee showroom and decent equipped workshop . . Although after 5 years I'm gradually winding it down because its not turned out as much fun as I'd thought it would. However, I'd no intention of being deliberately derogatory about his place, its up to him how he has it - but was only an observation, because (same my set-up,) it is nothing like the real competitive business World where trade is much more competitive and anyone who isn't organised is more likely to fail. The closest similarities to Andy's that I know off are lower value Antique junk type and Architectural Salvage yards, where most have stock lying about in what appears to be a pretty haphazard manner - I realise the owners know where everything is, but the customers don't! I know someone who runs one of these Antique yards - but he sells the better and rarer stock onto other dealers who have shops in area's and cities where Antiques command a better price - he leaves the cheaper stuff in his yard because his customers like having a rummage thinking they're going to pick up a real gem for next to nothing.........

Grand video Mr Brown. Lots of eye candy in that emporium ! I thought you were going to get your wallet out for that G2 . Nice Panther too , I rather fancy that . 1930s bikes are so stylish .👌 I always used to lose nuts and bolts in the grass when I was working on farm machinery , so I bought a kiddies metal detector , which proved to be a very useful bit of kit . It might save you from the burden of travelling to Andy's , or not ! Stylised Brooklands can on the Custom James ! Marvelous !😂

@dungspreader Yes, it's a unique place and he gets some real interesting bikes. The trouble is with me, is that I will work outside when the weather is good, instead of in the workshop. (I'm usually the author of my own undoing) I don't know what the previous owner of that James quite had in mind!
