Switching "addictions" is a very common thing in recovery. Awareness is the best defense against going too far into a new problem. Be kind to yourself. Keep steering your life in a positive direction. You deserve the best life possible.

I just want to say that this channel is my favorite wlw podcast. It's deep but lighthearted, sometimes witty, the host and guests have good chemistry, nobody talks over each other, it's educational, and feels more mature than a lot of other wlw podcasts that I watch/listen to (not that they're bad), even the new ones. Thank you so much!

I relate SO hard about being grateful that men weren’t into you when you were young. I never got attention or asked out growing up and it hurt for a long time but now I’m happy I focused on myself and my friends and didn’t have some teenage boy use me

I came out to my parents that I was queer/bisexual/definitely not straight right after New Years... and its been very rough to say the least. My dad is full blown not speaking to me and my mom is trying to understand but very lost on the situation. This podcast has been helping immensely though. With listening to other experiences, and feeling safe and hopeful. Thank you Mal.

What Mal said about her binge eating being a gauge for something being off is so relatable. I struggled with undiagnosed anxiety and OCD as a child which was diagnosed and somewhat treated in my early 20s. Now I'm nearly 30 and when my anixety is up or something is wrong, I can spot it quite quickly because I'm self aware enough to realise that my compulsions (checking) start popping up. Hard to shake off when I've grown up living like this.

When I was growing up, repressive parenting deeply effected my social growth and realizing that I was trans. Similar to many stories on this channel, my church became most of my social life (at an all boys high school, there were few people that I could relate to). I did so well on my catechism test (growing up Catholic), that my teacher paused while grading the tests snd asked me to be a peer minister for middle school students. 20 years later, I'm transitioning, and practicing a variety of occult, new age, ancient mystical practices outside the Abrahamic sphere.

Food like shelter is SUCH a basic need and the notion of lack/loss of either would be the main causes of psychological sufferings for most people.😂 I have never had weight issues and my relationship with food is not toxic but I know that I am different than others, because eating is just a means to an end. I don’t enjoy food most of the time and so I don’t need to seek that”high” from food.

Discovered Maddie‘s music through this podcast and I am so glad I did. Looked at her tour dates and since I was going to be in LA for a trip I decided I wanted to go to the LA show and I was beyond blown away. Her show is exactly like she described it… It was a healing experience for me. Maddie, if you ever read this thank you for your music and sharing your experiences with the world through your gift of an incredible voice and talent. For everyone else, do yourself a favor and get tickets to one of her shows. She will be about 5 hours away from me in May and I am already thinking about getting tickets to see that show because the experience was amazing. Thank you Mal for creating this podcast and having such amazing guests on this show.

The line about there being so much rainbow shit on display it was borderline homophobic, had me in much needed hysterics.😂 Such an important discussion on body image and another brilliant episode. x I was 41 when I had my nose straightened out, it was hard to resist everything else that was on offer and this is in the UK. Luckily I was old enough to know I'm not much of a looker and be happy with that. Having said that I'm in my fifties now and there's a temptation to sort the bags under my eyes.

To the host: please take a bit of a note. When a guest shares something new with them, take a moment to process that answer and give a real follow-up. Listen before you ask. Maddie was so real and honest. She didn't hold back in any way. As a host, you need to fuel her story and respond with compassion instead of your own trauma dump. Your story (which is very important and valid) seemed to invalidate your guests' experience. I want to help not hurt. I hope to not hurt you.

46:11 Not to be the annoying PC person, but please don't use the word "gypped"! The reason in means being cheated of is that it comes from the word "g*psy", which is an inaccurate and offensive way to talk about Romani people and is based on harmful stereotypes of them. Wasn't expecting to hear it here, but I guess lots of people don't know.
