I love how they show that both of the potential significant others are decent people too! I think it was Ananda the Jedi who said in a recent video of hers how those rom coms take the easy way by making the protagonists original partner a jerk so that you think 'duh, of course the other one is the better choice!' But here you have 4 adorable, decent people who are just better matched with another person than who they had planned to marry. The 'running up the hill singing' scene: it HAS to be Julie Andrews in Sound of Music who did it first! She always loves to tell the story in interviews how the shot was filmed from a helicopter and it was a real challenge to get it close enough to film her properly, yet far enough to stop the force of the rotor blades to make Julie face plant into the grass (which apparently happened more than once!)

Enchanted is honestly so fucking good and it's a crime that it's fairly underrated. Like you said, it handles feminism in such a beautifully organic way that doesn't feel it's beating its message into your brain with a baseball bat. Unfortunately, I feel this is also why people forget about how well it handles its subject matter. Frozen is a bit more in your face of showing you how ridiculous some of Disney tropes can be. It's constantly pointing out that women don't always need to be saved, love at first sight isn't real, etc. While these are good messages, the execution is just too much. On the other hand, Enchanted handles these topics better by showing not one way of looking at these topics is right. Robert is more realistic to his approach on love, but in return he's unable to be swept away with the magic of romance. On the other hand, Giselle is all encompassed in the magic of love that she doesn't realize love is more than sunshine and rainbows. They are a great pair because they both learn from each other. Thus, they still hold onto who they are and what they believe, but have changed them for the better. Side note, James Marsden is so underrated and it's a crime he's not in more. He's easily one of the funniest characters in the movie. His fist bite when he hears Giselle in Central Park is so adorably hilarious

I love Enchanted! As a Disney fan, I loved the Easter eggs that they put in but what really made me love is the idea of putting a little bit more optimism in the cynical real world. I always loved nancy. When it comes to feminism, it is often one side "We don't need to stand in the kitchen anymore" "We don't need to be housewifes and mothers to feel fulfilled" "We don't need a man" And that is true, we shouldn't be _forced_ to need that. But I for instance am a very happy married woman, who is mostly at home and wishing deeply to start a family with my husband, who is the major breadwinner in our relationship. If you look at it from the outside, it looks extremely oldfashioned, but I _chose_ this life and it makes me incredibely happy. And I think _that_ is what it is all about. Being able to chose _whatever_ path makes you happy, be that domestic, careerdrivem, independent, in a relationship... it doesn't matter what role you fill, as long as _you_ chose the role

The late 2000s were a time when I thought almost all recent Disney movies were 'girly movies', so I never watched them until more recent years (including this one). I hate my pre-teen self for thinking that cause as an adult, I love them. I do remember when this came out, the DISASTER MOVIE came out and of course, they parodied Giselle. I always remember her getting hit by a car and thinking that was the funniest thing in the world because of how I felt about Disney movies at that time. Of course as an adult, I realise that all of those 'Parody Movies' are the dumbest movies in the world.

This was made in 2007 so it makes sense the message is more subtle..and it was also showing feminism instead of just proclaiming it was a feminist movie. Had this been made in 2022, the message would have diluted the fun and charm Lastly Susan Sarandon was made to be a villianess in a movie...to go from sweet Janet in Rocky Horror to this role..just shows how versatile she is as a performer
