These past few weeks have been SUPER busy and I hadn't really sat down to think about making a cosplay for PAX East this weekend, so a "One Day Make" was in order! I decided to make a quick Nick Valentine cosplay from Fallout 4, because he's the best companion and you CAN'T TELL ME OTHERWISEEE. Often with a sports or suit coat to match or compliment the trousers. When it was rainy or cold, & they chose a trenchcoat. Eg: butchers, teachers, lawyers, even Walt Disney & Mr. Rodgers . I agree, she matched the colors well yo go with each other, and covered up her own colors, so everything matched beautifully well. The dark roughness of the weathering added to a unified theme. And, yes, her bone structure & features are well proportioned & placed, so they lend a visually pleasing framework to any skillfully applied makeup.

For French speakers, there's an equivalent for Hunt a Killer for "Expédition Mystère". They have 5 different stories so far (lovecraftian, pirate, egyptian curse, etc.) and their level or detail and dedication is insane. You pay a single price, and depending on it will receive one or more packages containing the elements allowing you to reconstruct the story. I've done two of them so far and I love their work!

Might I recommend a cheap Harbor Freight belt sander mounted to a work table for weathering fabrics. Works like a charm to quickly add wear to costumes and give them that organic feel to frayed holes and seems. Just an alternative way of getting to the same place.

Not to rain on your parade, but fallout 76 has been the objectively worst game of the saga :s There's been a lot of criticism because Bethesda realeased it buggy and unfinished, and the hacks are actually severely debilitating. However it's still a fallout game, it just definitively is *not* the one to judge the whole saga on. Just a heads-up, you know. A lot of people enjoy it despite its problems! Might I recomment Fallout New Vegas? It's very cheap on Steam right now and is, in my opinion, the best fallout, amazing story, and the choices you make actually make sense and have an impact on the world. None of it is black/white too, the majority of the choices are very grey and really make you consider them. Fallout 4 looks great tho, and Nick is a great character. Mods also help a lot if NV feels outdated!

Aw man, I was at that PAX East. Looking back, sure was insane that we were there, and survived. I remember seeing folks in tabletop (where I pretty much spend all of my time) wearing masks, and I thought in the back of my head “I did hear something about some virus… maybe they’re visiting from overseas where they have it?” Not realizing that was really the beginning of the end. A week or two after, my hunky started working from home and a year and a half later… we’re both still fully shut-in. Some day, I hope it’ll be responsible to host in-person pax, but until then? Being alive is a pretty great consolation prize.

This was amazing! It so reminded me of when I ran a costume shop for the theater department of a college, back in the 90's. Quickest way to distress clothes is just the methods you used. Our favorite distressing tools were sandpaper, paint, various jagged edged and hammering tools, and box cutters. Fray your patch edges, beat them, and paint them, (if you want a more ragged look), before stitching them on. You can also add loose threads to a garment with a felting needle, or clip and pull threads using a seam ripper, for a snagged look. Just watch out you don't jab yourself with the felting needle, those suckers have bled me more times. But than hey, a little actual blood makes it more authentic, right?! ha ha ha I loved the theater, it was a different type of madness, but it sure beat the ten years I spent designing and making wedding gowns. I can promise you there is no new way to sew on a sequin or a pearl. It's just one at a time until you go mad! I loved this! Awesome!

To hold those finger parts together, you could use butterfly pins, stationary items used to hold papers together, they look like pins but open outwards. It's hard to describe them. i love this project even though I've got no idea who Nick Valentine is. The face paint is amazing.

I am so happy to have found you (through your collaboration with BB.) I have the all your interests (except for the video? game reference. I will certainly look up Fall Out.) When I was young, waaaay back pre-internet, except for a bit of community theater and Halloween, I had few outlets for making costumes and props, and designing characters and makeup. The Fallout games are definitely my favorite games of all time. Basically, fashion and music stopped around the 50s but technolgy continued to develop thanks to nuclear power. They used nuclear power for everything, cars, robots etc. Big war, everyone dies, or so they thought. Some people hid in underground vaults and the living creatures (humans included) on the surface mutated. So, you wander in an open post nuclear world with 50s fashion and music. Nick Valentine is a character in Fallout 4, the games are independant from each other (except for Fallout 1 & 2) and can be played in any order ; and clearly Fallout 4 was made for people who aren't familiar with the lore and the mechanics of the games. Whatever people say about Fallout 4, it is a really good game (but not the best one from the franchise). A bit long, sorry
