Aww thank you and we’re very sorry to hear that you don’t need to visit your mum anymore. 😢 It’s been a hard year for Ben and his family with his dad passing, even more so as Christmas moves in very quickly. Thank you for joining in with this video Margaret it was lovely to meet you and your Christmas lights look amazing ❤ I loved the video this week Ben and Dawn especially as Dawn wasn't out all day in the freezing cold 😊I think the barn will make a wonderful place to make your creations and keeps everything separate from your home, I must admit I've been looking forward to seeing what Ben makes with the printer he demonstrated a while ago, my immediate thought was slices of one of the apple tree branches sliced into coaster size pieces and embossed with The Corner House. I hope you both have a wonderful week sending love as always xxxx
@thecornerhouseproject16 күн бұрын
I think Bens mum quite enjoyed it in the end ♥️ Margaret’s lights always look sooo pretty. She does love her Christmas lights! Haha it was lovely to not be out in the cold for a change. Indoors with the fires going was the right place to be last week. It’s going to turn chilly again from tomorrow so ready to wrap up warm once again! 😂 Ooh yes we have lots of ideas with that Laser printer. We were really hoping to have got the barn done this year to get started on doing other things but alas this year hasn’t gone quite the way we thought it would. Next year is a new year though. May it bring good things. I do love your idea of the coasters and it was something like that we had in mind too. We hope you have an amazing week too Kim and thanks ever so much for your lovley comments, it means a lot. Xxxx

Hi Dawn & Ben, & Margareth. Beautiful family chapter, thank you for giving us more of you, with so much warmth and tranquility. Very good music today, and I can almost feel the sandalwood in the video. I can also feel the deep tribute to Allan, which echoes in the memory of my father who also departed in those days. Without a doubt the holidays will be different, but always comforting in the spirit. My family has already arrived home, we are getting settled, the last two weeks were quite intense and exhausting, but we are happy, our cats are investigating everything, very alert. Ben is making the edits very emotional, very well produced, excellent work!!! The lights are beautiful, very pictorial, dreamy, and I suppose very evocative of Ben and the family. Thank you Margareth for sharing with us. Bye Bye, see you soon. 🐈

Lovely of you to help your mum. As for whether your mum should have the lights up this year, there is no right or wrong way to greive. I lost my brother Sept 2017 and my mum 13th Dec 2017, my mum made my sister and I promise the day before she passed away in hospital that we would have one last Christmas in the family home before it was sold. We did that even though we struggled, we decorated the tree and my sister and I and our kids celebrated Christmas as best we could. If putting the lights up is what comforted your mum it was the right thing to do for her (hello Margaret👋). Cherish her and your time with her. Nice to see how Dawn makes her wax melts, love a wax melt especially Christmas ones 😊. Have a good week all.

Hi Michelle. That must have been a very very hard time in life for you. I love how you still celebrated Christmas at your mums wishes. That was a lovely thing to do. Your mom is so cute. You were watching my favorite Christmas movie, the 1951 version of A Christmas Carol.
@thecornerhouseproject7 күн бұрын
Hi Sharon. It was the colour version of the film too. Really hard to find but worth getting if you can find it. Although the black and white version is lovely, the colour brings everything to life. I think the second best version is The Muppets Christmas Carol with Michael Caine. It is just like the 1951 but with the muppets (and a musical). With that said, The new film from a couple of years ago, "Spirited" is a good version too. A big twist on the original Dickens story, but still brings a huge smile to your face. Have a lovely Christmas Sharon and thank you for watching and commenting.

@thecornerhouseproject8 күн бұрын
Ooh well there ya go….you learn something new everyday eh? They’re basically a candle without the wick and they just melt down and releases the fragrance as they warm through. Makes the house smell delightful! 😂 Haha Ben loves the big light displays that you have over in America, where they put them to music! He can sit for ages watching them on KZbin! 🤣 I think he would like to have something similar on ours 😮 I’m not sure what I think about that though 🤣

Hi Joanne It was a hard few days for Dawn and I felt really bad. Things always go wrong one way or another when someone isn't home. Even when we are both here, things still go wrong :-( But we get over it. Dawn, you and your cat triggered a 50 year old memory. I used to have a cat that followed me everywhere, just like a dog. We lived in a small village and our property bordered the house yard of the local post office. I'd go get the mail and Puss would follow me and sit on the step of the Post Office, while I collected the mail and chatted with the Postmistress. She'd stay there till I got to the edge of the cement of the covered porch, then I'd stop and say "You coming?" and she'd walk to the edge of the cement... She wouldn't go any further. I had to pick her up and carry her home.. EVERY.. TIME. Loved that cat. Still miss her 45 years later. You remind me so much of me. We run purely off rainwater, too. I am always running the tank by the barn dry... I turn it on to water the animals and get distracted and forget to turn it off. I've done it at least 6 times now.. I guess that's not 'always', because we've been here 7.5 years.. lol I keep a stock tank heater in the tote on the barn and an aquarium heater in the one on the cabin. We can have days in a row where it barely gets above freezing, and the heater means I still have water, even if I have to carry it inside in 5 gallon buckets. Did I mention that I hate Winter??
@thecornerhouseproject8 күн бұрын
Aww wow what a lovely memory! Alan does love being around us and whenever we go walking down the land or the lane Alan will not be far behind. He is a lovely lovely cat. Your memory also very much echoes one of the cats we had as children. He was called Mitch and whenever my mum went to the newsagents/greengrocers that was at the top of our road…Mitch would go with her but he wouldn’t cross over the road with her. He would sit on the brick wall and wait until she came out of the shop and crossed the road and then he would walk back home with her. Some animals just stay with you don’t they? Haha we try and remember to set a reminder on the Amazon alexa to remind us to turn of the pump but there’s plenty of times we forget! It’s not until you rain harvest that you realise just how precious water is! 😂 Haha yes winter is a trying time when you live like this. Bens just bought some trace wire to try and prevent the pipes from freezing so we shall try that out and see how that goes.
@y.lelivelt261917 күн бұрын
In the Netherlands 🇳🇱 we always lay out pipes 60 centimeter under the surface. Then they don't freeze. Inside out houses we also are aware of frozen pipes. We use as much Rockwool as we can to insulate them.
@thecornerhouseproject10 күн бұрын
We did have plans to box in all of our pipes with an insulated box but we just haven’t gotten round to it. We do have some rock wool so maybe that’s the way forward for when we box them in.

aww :) Your mom is so sweet! Love love love the slice of life videos. If you hadn't put something up, I think a lot of us would be genuinely worried if everything was ok. Thanks Dawn, until it becomes undoable due to volume, I think the handwritten labels are a nice touch.

It’s sometimes hard to know what to do when there isn’t much renovation stuff going on, so it’s nice to know that you still enjoy the not so reno ones ❤️ Yeah I think you’re right with the handwritten labels, there’s lot of nice coloured pens that can be used to make it stand out a little too.

Ben, I had an epiphany yesterday, when a picture of me bundled up outside while waiting for a parade revealed to me that I look just like my mother. Isn’t it funny when we have gotten to the age where we are finally ok with looking like our parents. I do miss my mom so it gave me some comfort. And well done on making your Mum’s house look beautifully decorated for Christmas. It would fit right in here in the states. Dawn, I too love the house to smell good and I am a sucker for sandalwood and rose geranium together. Patchouli is also a big favorite. If you start a Etsy shop, I’m sure you will do well. So, you know how I like to point out stuff in the background…what is the door on its side in front of the tool shed? Is it a project door for it? I am sooooo nosy. Lol. Until next week
@thecornerhouseproject8 күн бұрын
Haha you’re not nosy or if you are I would be the same lol I notice things like that too. That’s the old front door and I had thoughts like you…..”hmm, I wonder what I can do with that” I don’t like throwing things away when there could be a use for it. So for now it sits there waiting because we’ve run out space in the shed 🫣 Oh I know with starting to look and act like your parents! The older I get I notice I sound more and more like my mum and I can feel my mannerisms become like her too. It’s odd isn’t it? Because it will have always been there but only know am I starting to recognise it. Ben and his sister did a lovely job of the lights and they look so lovely. 🥰

Nooo Dawn! Not the hot water heater *again*! Heat pipe wrap will really, really help. Been there, done that. 😅Your magical landscape must help make up for it, a bit. I loved seeing you relaxing a bit with your candle melts. I could tell by the bits and bobs of decor in your house and garden that you are a creative and crafty person. (Me, too!) It's good to be able to stop and enjoy, as that visualization keeps us going through the rough and tough times. Like when you and Ben were in the mud for weeks behind the outbuildings up to your knees in mud. Ben, the Christmas lights are lovely!🎄 It would be a shame not to have them up this year. It's so odd when we look in a mirror and see our parents, isn't it? I think your Dad was looking back, so proud of you. Your Mum is absolutely delightful, and beautiful! What a good sport to be on KZbin. Her home looks lovely. I would also be spending time in that conservatory. I hope your sister lives near Margaret. This will be a hard holiday season for her. I feel for you all. ❤ I miss Worcestershire! I wish you'd been able to show some of the glorious countryside. Glad Lucas was able to visit both sets of Grands while you were there. Great video, nice to see Dawn and Ben having some downtime! Renovation is interesting, but I, like many of your viewers, do hope you have time to enjoy life and each other when you're not covered in muck and mortar. Enjoy the holiday season!

Oh I know with the water. So frustrating but we will get it sorted it out. It’s all a very steep learning curve having moved here. It’s not something we’ve had to deal with in our lives before lol. The magical landscape definitely made up for it…it looked so beautiful when I looked out of the landing window that I wanted to have a walk and see it up close. Ahh yes I love making the melts. It’s lovely to be able make things like that for yourself isn’t it? Yes, Bens mum was very pleased that she did decide to have them up this year because they look so lovely twinkling away in the night and Ben and his sister did a very good job on them. It is lovely sitting out in that conservatory. She has always done a very good on making her gardens look lovely. So full of interest. When we were over in September we got to watch the squirrels everyday. We hope one day we can have squirrels in our garden because we love to see them scurrying about. Bens sister lives only about 5 minutes away so yeah she is always on hand for Margaret and she does so much for Margaret most days. She definitely won’t let Margaret be alone at Christmas. 🎄 Lukas had a lovely time. He got to see a few friends and family too which was lovely for him. It’s been very nice the last few weeks to take a little step back from the Reno side of things and just do some “normal stuff” 😂

@@thecornerhouseproject I'll send you some squirrels! I had one foster dog a couple of years ago climbing the apple trees to chase them. 🤦♀

Hola. Loved the videos & meeting Margaret, lovely lady. Dawn, enjoyed watching you looking after the house, and making the wax melts, a lovely hobby. Your film of your walk around the land was breathtaking, looks beautiful. Look forward to next week, take care & enjoy being together again. Hugs ❤️❤️

Hola 👋 aww we’re glad you enjoyed them. It was a different kind of week so we’re happy to hear you still liked watching. It is a lovely hobby and nice to be able to do things that save you money and time in the long run. It actually felt like that when I was wandering down there…it just looked so picture perfect with the sun peeping through the half fallen trees with the Ivy tendrils hanging down. There’s beauty everywhere isn’t there? You just need to look for it. ♥️

We got off very lightly really, the was some flooding both ends of our lane so we had to take it slow driving through there but other than that not too bad at all.

Well done, you two. Ben/Dawn, that was a lovely video to watch. It was very seasonal, making it seem very close to Christmas. Ben and Mandy, you both, have done a great job with your lovely Mum's lights. Ours will have to wait until the 14th.♥♥♥

Thanks Pa. Yeah it feels very seasonal around here at the moment. Ben did a good job of his mums lights, they look lovely. 🥰 Not much longer until you get to put your decorations up now! The bah humbug in me would like to still put mine up on the 14th…less time gathering dust then! 🤣 xxx
