At this point, video game adaptations are following the Dreamworks pattern. Sometimes you’ll strike gold like with Mario and Sonic, but most of the time, you’ll get slop like this and Borderlands.

They robbed us of an animated version of Steve that could’ve still been voiced by Jack Black. Steve is canonically a goofy character and Jack Black could’ve brought his Kung Fu Panda energy to the role. The animation would’ve complimented it perfectly, but no… of course that didn’t happen.

I knew from the moment that they said it would be Live action that there was no chance of the movie being any good, but holy shit what have they done? I don’t know why they needed to make the backgrounds look hyper realistic like that, they literally could’ve just used clips of actual gameplay and edited in the characters and the whole thing would’ve worked better.

I'm glad I'm not the only who was thinking the animals are looking weird. Sure it can change in the few months that are left before release, but I feel like you'd have to work back from the ground up. This is definitely going to be a movie that JB will be the best thing going for it, but even he won't be able to save it. This would have worked better like 10 years ago.

Totally agree. I think the attempted stylized CG from Rocky & Bullwinkle looks better than this. And that film came out almost 25 years ago.

One of the things that could’ve done it’s very simple. Instead of live action humans when they entered into the Minecraft world they would look like the characters in Minecraft. And so long as they look similar enough to the actors, you can easily recognize them and be able to associate their new looks with the way they looked previously. In other words, if you’re gonna put them in another world, then Isaki that shit. Have them be shocked at their new appearance, have some thing they can happen to them that wouldn’t be able to happen in real life, but they can in these new bodies.

Time to reset the clock. We had a good run with video game adaptations of late. Someone had to come by and set the world back to zero. Thanks Minecraft for being our new sleep paralysis demon (Edit: Full on forgot about the borderlands movie. I think I managed to purge that from my memory as best I could.)

I like some parts and despise others (pink sheep) The piglins actually look kinda nice and fitting for a villains I’m assuming The pink sheep should be burned in hell The overall landscape design isn’t too bad and I like the creeper Why real life people though Go take inspiration from the one Minecraft book jack black did the audio book for Animated and have the cast be voice actors
