Great work table looks fantastic. Option -- maybe split the wooden oval in half and route out a channel to fit the glass in the middle glue together, add a trem to the outside of the oval to hide the join. To give the top a cleaner line.

I don’t think I’ve seen a glass table with a timber boarder before but I really like how it’s turned out.

That really turned out great and you're a talented maker that definitely has a way of making your projects not only interesting, but also a learning experience. Between yourself and David Stanton this evening I've learned a lot more about my own router and how I can better use it.

Perfect, just the way it ended up. I wouldn't change 1 thing with the end result. Great project.

Looks fantastic and the happy accident, on the ring and feet finish, blends wonderfully with the stump. 😁✌🖖

Really like the way the top turned out... the wooden frame makes it look hella nicer than just plain glass. But I think I would have gone with a smaller oval wooden base, or, at the least, sunk the cross pieces all the way in, so that the top of the stump was flush with the ground. That being said, the entire table still looks amazing :D

Another nice job! One thing I've learned about trying to match colors - testing on scrap wood. Saves having to re-sand an entire piece. Keep up the great work!

It worked out really well and looks great. I probably would have gone for a circular look, but that's small peanuts. 👏🏼

Can’t wait to see the hot wheels one! I have several of them and I’d like to build a display for them . I hate to admit it but I usually buy 2. One to play with and one in the package 😹

Jean, looks awesome. I thought you would have split the oval frame and sandwiched the glass between the two pieces. No glue necessary. As it stands, I think you may want to flip the glass top over so the wood is on top and the silicone is hidden.

same. I was thinking of a sandwich.

Looks nice as it is though I would have gone with a solid oval base instead of the 'Christmas Tree' cross feet. I think it would have looked more professional. Also surprised you did not arch the feet a bit to prevent wobbling later on.

Great job as usual. If I had to do this job, I would have made the wooden oval in two parts with a groove inside to put the glass. Then I would have assembled the two parts to lock everything together. easy to say but not easy to do though

Always a pleasure to watch you work. Lot of short grain in that ring but it should be good as the silicone will support it. Love yhe belt sander. I've copied that and it's so good!

Nice table Jean, I am sure you could have used the glass as a pattern template with a bushing on your router for the outside. Wood trim with silicone looks a bit MEH. agree with some other comments, either upside down (maybe chamfer inside edge to keep level with glass) or just plain glass. Good work though, keep it up

Well, I know you asked a lot of questions, about this and that... I know it helps for KZbin engagement... and TBH, I do this with my projects... at some point you bring those to a close. As it stands now, it is a beautiful transformation from garbage to treasure and something that I would proudly have in my own home... Consider this project complete and enjoy your new coffee table! Cheers.

I like how it turned out! If I could change one thing, I would either keep the cross on the bottom, with a oval ring around the outside to match the top, or maybe just a simple wooden oval base with a routed out recess in the exact shape of the trunk to look like it was sprouting out, and up in between two ovals of different sizes. Keep it up!! 👍

Looks great. Unrelated question, but since you have changed your shop and have had some time to work in the shop after replacing the all in 1 workbench, which do you prefer? The reason I'm asking is that I have a small shop that I'm going to be improving soon and am torn between all in 1 vs components.
@WoodshopJunkies Жыл бұрын
I will be going back to a all in one setup but an adaptable, modular version.

@Woodshop Junkies Yeah, I watched the video where you were building a couple of the modular pieces. I was thinking that's what you were using already.
