I have this exact watch on wrist right now. It has quickly become my favorite, so I am in the process of buying a 42mm black bezel jubilee bracelet diver and a standard ocean one. Quality is impressive, they are extremely comfortable, my only issue is with the mediocre cyclops I will eventually pop off.

They also love the Steinharts. There are rolex rip offs, the steinhart uses a Rolex design, but it is not a rip off or replica. Almost every popular dive watch today originates its design from rolex sub.

Thank you, Andrei, for reviewing this beautiful strutocamila of a watch! One thing I appreciate about Steinhart is they kept their prices reasonable although they wave the "swiss made" flag into customers' faces. Also, unlike way too many other brands, they were pretty smart about their oyster-like bracelets, which have female end-links to improve the comfort of their flat pan subs on the wrist. I've considered their 9401/0 homage, but decided to build my own, which turned out to be both fun and rewarding.
@thetimemachine38283 жыл бұрын
The female end links are the worst thing on a Steinhart. There's always a ugly gap between the end link and the 1st link of the bracelet that makes the whole thing look cheap. That's just bad design, which is funny coz its the only thing on the watch Steinhart did design. 🤣

Steinhart offer some of the best value for money at ~$500. Personally, I prefer my homages to be of timepieces that are no longer in production, like their Explorer II ref. 1655 or Tudor Snowflake homages, but that's neither here nor there: the quality is really good, ᴇsᴘᴇᴄɪᴀʟʟʏ mov't wise. Using an elaboré 1 grade Selitta or ETA puts them way in front of any competition. It's funny André, my wrist is larger than yours but I sorta wish my Steinhart - the 1655 homage - came in 39mm. The 42mm wears really well - very similar to the PH200M in fact, it's just a little heavier than I'd like. Cheers again bud. Hope you're well. ✌🏼️

Great review of a very attractive watch! I wonder why Steinhart continue with the straight lugs. They should be aware of the critics of it. If they were not so straight I would like to have the 42mm version. But with my 6,7 inch wrist I need to choose the 39mm. The question is if I will perceive the bezel and dial too small. Apart from that I wish this model was available without the GMT hand. It's a feature I will never have use of, and the extra hand on the dial is an unnecessary distracting detail.

@@spawn2105 Sorry for the delay of update: I got the Ocean blue ceramic around 3 months ago. Absolutely beautiful watch with excellent finish. The straight lugs is not a problem at all on my 17cm/6,7 inch wrist. I have a few other diver watches with 43-45mm bezel size, and yes: the 39mm Steinhart looks small in comparison. I would really like if the 42mm Steinhart had more curved lugs, or shorter lug to lug distance. I am not completely sure but I think the lugs of 42mm version might be a bit too big on my wrist because they are so flat. But 39mm version no problem at all. And I actually think I prefer a watch which looks a bit on the small side before a watch with lugs who look too big on the wrist. I have not decided which one yet, but I consider to get another 39mm model.

I have the 42mm Black Red (Coke) Ceramic. It has (almost guaranteed) the Sellita SW330-1 movement, same as the 39....... I was initially concerned that the accuracy was out. Worn 24/7 on the wrist it ranged from +14.7 to -11 spd. This is outside Sellita's specs, but then watch makers' say what was the watch orientation, how long was it in that position, how wound was the main spring etc and as I say, it's real world, worn 24/7. I was about to send it back to Gnomon, but in the last couple of weeks it's been within +/- a couple spd. So, did the movement 'settle in' (I think so). There are mixed opinions about movements settling in, many say there is no such thing, about the same number say yes, it is a thing. Based on my 5 week experience, it is a thing. As far as the watch goes, it is great, I love the way the ceramic bezel 'pops'. It sits nicely on the wrist, My wrist is only 17cm circumference, but flat, so it's about my sweet spot. Now that the timekeeping has settled down, I really love it. The GMT hand is also great, with colleagues in the US and AUS it's good to have that second time zone at a glance (and not pissing them off ringing them at zero dark hundred). Would I recommend? yes. Would I buy again? yes.

I bought the Steinhart Batman over this one. Though this one is nice, I found the colours to be really bright. The bezel colours really pop. I wanted something more subtle so I chose the Batman instead. I think this one should be called the Superman because of how bright the blue and red is on the bezel!
@seayak Жыл бұрын
I did the same thing, got the Batman over the Pepsi. Have had it for over a year and still love it. More recently I discovered the Ocean 39 Vintage GMT, which has also found its way into my collection. Two very different watches, one more modern and sporty, the other a bit smaller, more subtle, and vintage-inspired. Have to love the 30 atmosphere waterproofness of both models, though, and the robust ceramic bezels. Those features outperform either of the Rolex originals for everyday wear and active living.

@atticus65723 жыл бұрын
The Lorier is a truer GMT, with a bidirectional bezel rather than the Steinhart's diver-style unidirectional. I would also vouch for the Lorier's movement over the Steinhart's, but that's more subjective. Still, the Steinhart has two things that the Lorier does not; affordability and availability. I recommend the Baltic Aquascaphe GMT as well - my personal favourite, mixing Rolex, Blancpain and even Zodiac design cues.

I just don't see the value proposition of a Rolex as compare to these finely made Steinhart timepieces. You are paying a premium for the proprietary Rolex movement, which only your watchmaker will ever see, who by the way will charge you multiples of the service fee as compared to your Steinhart when it needs lubricating or regulating. I can't imagine owning an expensive sports car without ever being able to lift the hood and admire the engine.
