I think the greatest confirmation on the Big-Mom-ate-them theory is the log. When you look at the table on which the birthday-cake is served, everyone around is sitting on logs, not on chairs or seats. and later in the big panel when BM realizes everybody's gone, there is a half bitten log left to her in it. this, I think, is much stronger than her saying 'I chomped the table a few times' because that is what you would expect from Luffy. at the feast after the alabasta arc they made a joke, when Luffy sucked up all the food and then spit out the plates. so bite marks on the table would just be like: hey, look how gluttony this girl is. haha this and the left over cloth of Mother makes this f*cking dark!

Even when we saw Linlin going on a rampage in her own hometown and after she was stopped by Jinbe, she did ask what had happened there. It proves she doesn't have any control of her tantrums. After she ate Caramel and the other kids in the flashback, she genuinely cried for their "disappearance". It proves that if there was some way to quell that cannablistic side of her, she would have turned out to be a decent loving person. That's why I feel bad for her, especially if this behavior and this strength is not of her will and intention in the first place. As for her adult self, I don't condone it whatsoever. But mother Caramel and child trafficking reveal was savage.

Big mom would know if Mother Caramel was dead if she ended up discovering her devil fruit later on in her life when she became a pirate. She must have gained her power after devouring Mother Caramel.
