Gosh, what an insufferable take. Pretty sure this guy is going to stand 10 toes down and firm on his take even though the verdict is out and the vast majority of fans and non-fans would disagree. I was watching this video yesterday before the show came out and this video just sounded like it came from a miserable person, but I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt anyway, at least until I watched some of the live-action series. Suprised that there are even One Piece fans who think like this, but then again it is the Internet, so maybe I shouldn't be.... No live adaptation will ever be perfect and there will always be people who are very familiar with the source material that will have a problem with it. Heck, as crazy as it sounds, even Lord of the Rings, arguably the best Live-action rendition of any story ever, had haters from hardcore fans of the source material when it came out. Where are they now? This video is no different. Unless there is a significant drop in quality in upcoming seasons, opinions like this will be dismissed as nonsensical.

To be fair for Lotr book fans. A large amount of them agree that the films are incredible films and realistically did about the best job adapting the series as they could. But still some things are off and a few decisions large amounts of the fantasy community disagree with. With again, the majority of people preferring the books. I have no horse in said race. Totally disagree, it was so fun to watch and see Oda reimagine his masterpiece into another platform. In my eyes and I’m sure Oda’s, it’s a success. He should be very proud of himself. More (mostly) canon one piece content for existing fans. Easier barrier for entry to newcomers; my gf has tried very hard to watch the anime but found it too long despite being interested in the story (making it hard for her to get past 50 episodes) but is loving watching the live action.

Let's face it, it's never going to be the same as the anime and parts of the anime are never gonna work in live action either and there's gonna be haters for something great. Welp this aged like milk. We can talk about personal opinions and tastes, but what matters is we look at this objectively. And it’s the number one show in Netflix rn beating stranger things season 4 and Wednesday that got number one in 83 countries. It’s safe to say it’s successful, even if you personally think it’s good or bad. And majority (well at least vocal majority) of the people who’ve watched the show seems to be mostly positive about it.

How many seasons do you reckon to cover the whole show if this is a success? Probably 10-15, if that's the case you have a decade worth of CGI improvements coming along and if this show is a hit imagine the amount of focus/passion/technology that will go into its production Season 2 onwards. Spoilers: I thought it was incredibly terrible with absolutely no redeeming features. It was bad on every level and actually made me feel pain to sit through it. Though, Helmeppo was truly a joy. My guy forgot that Eichiro Oda was apart of this whole thing, there is a reason why Oda was invited for this project and a reason why we have a One Piece Live action in the first place, because of Oda. He monitored everything so I trust and believe that this is certainly gonna be a good live action. Sure there are some stuff that cannot be translated well into Live Action like Devil Fruits etc. but you can basically just film in a low and dark setting just like from the trailer, that’s it. So when it comes to CGI I’m not that worried.

Having the best CGI, video effects, etc. don’t mean sht compared to the writing aspect of it. To write it in such a way that it perfectly complements its new medium is probably the most difficult part of translating this story. If they succeed with that, then this live action can stand on its own and that’s more than enough. Although I’m pretty confident this will become a massive success because Oda is completely involved, nothing got through without him approving it. People underestimate him saying “What does he know about Western filmmaking?” He has pulled out references from different stories, shows, authors, movies from history to modern times through out his series. Most of them details we easily missed. He knows what he’s doing.

“dialogue has been bad”😂 the show is not even out yet. also they not gonna talk like in the anime of course, they changed it to fit real person talking. style of writing in manga is so much different than writing a script, it just don’t work if they want recreate 1:1 with the manga. many dialogue was shortened and exaggerated to fit the drawing in manga/comic medium so you should expect more calm and more human-like dialogue in the live action. remember this is a adaptation not a recreation. for a channel named ‘writing corner’ your take is so shallow it embarrassingly funny-dattebayo.

I do not want to build the channel. I thought the show (thus far) was very bad. Videos will come, but I am always juggling a lot of projects (have book novel deadline Wednesday).
