There are crazy combos in Sevens The only simple thing is that you can summon unlimited monster and draw 5 card.but there is a lot of complicated things like how you can counter when your opponent put your ace card at the bottom of the deck by using card that has an effect of doing something on your deck like add a card or pick a card on deck and when you use this you forcing your deck to shuffle,increasing the chance of drawing your ace card next turn and not by believing in some heart of the cards bullshit.you need to think who to summon first too cause the field are only 3 if you miss summon it might blow your combo,that goes for the spell and trap too.Og Yu Gi Oh used to be simple too at the start so dont expect expect a new game to be that complicated.

At first I was disappointed in Sevens for removing Takahashi’s art style. However, after looking at the first episode, I do see it's merits. The reason why Yugioh Arc V got hate and Vrains got axed is because it was fundamentally broken as a series. Interesting ideas or ambitious plots are all meaningless if it doesn't have the bases to work with. What holds Vrains down isn't even the production issue. The complicated rules of the OCG and the spammable Link Monsters made the duels in Vrains an absolute train wreck. Most duels(especially after season 1), duels lasted way too long and every character played off their 1st turn the same way(Salamangreat, Hydrive, @ignisters, etc) and on the top of that took up an entire half an episode. Not only that, because most of their decks were meta IRL, the misplays stood out a lot. In contrast, Sevens's episode structure is much more consistent. not only they can restrain the duel length to 6~10 mins long, each episode has an self contained plot, there are scenes that adds information that carries an overarching plot, and it's full of character interactions. The fact such basic requirement for a weekly show is even a complement shows how the Yugioh anime for a long time(6 years) didn't function as a show. As for the animation aside from the Takahashi art style and Noh Gil Bo animations, it's passable. The designs are very uninspired but there are plenty of good sakuga moments and character animation. Most noticeably in episode 3 and 6. The monster designs are great. While a bit of a modern touch, it's still very much Yugioh. Dragears's CGI was incredible. The Duel disk design is much better and the sound design for the Duel disk when dueling is surprisingly satisfying. Yugioh Sevens at the moment, is just a decent anime at the the cost of throwing it's "Yugioh" element that has been holding it back for the pass few years. If it manages to keep the current formula and gradually add more innovations, it might be able to withstand the contain downfall of the Yugioh franchise. P.S Plz just air for a full 3 years and don't get axed. PLEASE.

I was disappointed when I saw that Sevens was basically about 7 year olds. I was so excited for a new series, just for...... this to be the result. I want them to Re-Do the original series (same storyline) but add in All the new stuff that came out since then. Seeing Kaiba using Azure Eyes Or Joey with the new red eyes support would be amazing.

Yo first of all,people saying Sevens is good anime have no taste at all.Second,VRains had good music,good duels,realistic plot,good MC with awesome character Development,every caracter was a fucking badass,didnt have many characters meaning that no one was threw away and is forgotten,VRains on anime festival finished as number 6 witch surpased AOT season 3,Love is war,Promised Neverland,Dororo,Dr. Stone...People complaing about pacing in game are too young to know that even in old yugioh it was basicly the same thing,cards were still expensive just card pool wasnt wide ,meta deck then and rouge deck then is same thing as now meaning that Meta deck was expensive and in could trash on other decks,not to mention that now u have structure decks that are rly good and with few staples u are good to go,the only thing is that turns can be long(witch means chance to screw up are higher)compared to T set pass.

I think we got another zexal. The series starts slow but as we go it goes better. Iike that romin as character isn't cast aside. I wish it will be true in the future too. Yugioh really loves to treat its female characters poorly. I think that as the plot will get more serious we get some good moments. I think that the reason that they choose to make it is that they need to attract more kids to the card game. They can't introduce a new mechanic as the new thing because the game is really too complicated. The card design was dated already. So they made rush duels as a soft reboot to the game. This way they can sell more cards to new players. New players are buying much more stuff usually so they are really attractive audience. I think the next series going to be more serious. Arc-V really had so much potential but they wasted too much time on synchro arc and didn't properly planned Fusion Arc. Zarc as a villain was really badly executed. I really think the battle was boring. It's really shame. I think that vrains is good but I wasn't really excited about it as I was with Arc-V. Bohman as a villain was meh. I liked first arc ans third arc. AI VS Playmaker was really awesome. I do think that we didn't had any extra deck other than links in the first arc was annoying especially that they suddenly started using other summoning method without any plot explanation.

Currently drawing my series, it's super long and a mix of vrains and zexal ig, could have numbers in as well but not sure, i actually have some of the cards real life printed as oricas. Also i enjoyed the video. For now it's episode 26 and the series is getting better for SEVENS and i guess after episode 8 or 9 it's enjoyable.

I just finished the whole Lukemen episode (66+67) and the whole backstory behind it was insane. It was awful. Just my two cents. I'm such a yugioh shill that I'll watch the show anyway. Another problem is that there is too many characters and not enough time to flesh out their backgrounds, I honestly stopped caring about their decks about when the duel between Gakuto's ninja servants happened after the female one tried to help Neil because of Galient. They have the same decks! Aside from maybe one or two cards. That wasn't exciting or fun at all.

YGO Sevens is a pretty entertaining anime to watch for kids and maybe even adults. But I can see the problem of it being it doesn't really feel like YGO so far, there's no epic plot intertwined with the characters as of yet, nor do their showing of Rush Duels truly make me want to go out and buy some cards. But that's probably due to a lack of card pool variety to create more variety of dueling strategies.

There's one problem for me though there's no suspense there's not really a penalty for losing. The origanal yu gi oh you lose, you lose your soul. It's also really hard to relate to the characters in any way and is really cringy just about every episode as you get deeper

Yes it's good to wait but honestly all previous Yugioh manage to be more interesting than Sevens in less than 5 épisode. And not like the story was so exceptionnal until now... just a random kid who had hacked the duel system to impose it's kind of duel and force everybody to use it just because he find it fun. Hard to claim it's good or even needed especially when they developped no need to impose and make the rush duel (peoples was sad with the master duel in this series ? Goha was a bad organisation who bully all peoples who don't follow the rules ? Yuga have a reason to develop the rush duel except because he find it fun ?). The worst is Yuga have basically already manage to accomplish he's goal in 2 episodes because the rush duel is already popular and available for all. And not like they even develop a kind of rivality between Rush and Master duel since the master duel has never been show until now in Sevens (and I doubt they want to show it since all deck in rush format are bad in master duel.) It's like in Arc V, Yuya goals was to popularize the pendulum but immediately in the first episode all monster cards was already turned in pendulum and people can easly know how to use it.. What the point to continue to focus on this goal ?

So I try to continue to look it but after 20 ep it's clearly not what I want to see. I see more meme and introduction/development of random secondary characters than story or even good duels. And personally if I was a new player even a young one... I'm not sure I want to play or find interest in yugioh if I was started with Sevens (not a fans of the rush duel too) especially if I compare with other cardfight anime as Vangard for example. But clearly from the start Sevens manage to ruin itself the concept it try to show by: 1. Make the rush duel already playable by all characters and make the master duel vanish all from the first episode. It's as if Arc V was focused on the pendulum monster and all peoples become able to play them from the start because all monster cards turn like it. 2. Forcing the evil image of Goha corp from the start but for absurd reason. No because for me Goha wasn't so evil, they just try to control their product and honestly the penalty was more a joke than a big threat. 3. "Hey Yuga explain everything" What I loved in the previous series it's the mysteries but in Sevens they just want to make Yuga look as a genius who explain all thing. 4. "Duels are rushed as hell" And I don't even say it as a wordplay, in DM and GX they wasn't so good but at least they was interesting unlike what I see in Sevens (or rush duel)

I mean when I see all the previous Yugioh I immediatly find interest for the heros because their background and goals, for the universes, for the potential of these series. In sevens we have: -Heros goal: Yuga want to popularise and officialise the rush duel. Why ? No reason he just find it fun... Sorry but if you want your main hero to have a goal at least develop it a minimum with some background or plot element or make it appear as a random goal all characters want to accomplish as Judai who want to become the king of duel as other characters in GX. -Focus of this series: The rush duel who is already totally available and even FORCED for all characters in this series but who already have nothing to add anymore since it's just a format and out of the rules and new card it's not different than all other kind of duel. (We can have the extra summons later but they already exist in master duel) Not like a series focused on a format is neccesary bad but when in basically 2 episodes this new format is already avaiable for everyone and you don't have other format to rivalizing with it what the matter ? Sorry but it's like Yuga already manage to accomplish he's goal and the only obstacle in front of him is... goha corp... The vilain: Goha corp... basically you take the Kaiba corp and you make it look as Evil because they dress in black have rules... Sevens is basically a "Screw the rules I want to impose my fun" because until now I see no reason to see Goha corp as an evil organisation to be honest. Even Sol tech in Vrains looking more as a bad organisation with an evil face in less than 3 episodes than Goha corp. I think these are all valid criticisms of the series. I certainly think there are many ways they could have taken the plot or characters, but the fundamental problem (besides the writing quality) is that they choose to not really do much of anything. Where there is potential for some interesting storytelling, instead they swerve away from it. To take the simplest way out, instead. Presumably to keep the statues quo and avoid having to hire any writers to work on the series.

2 months late but whatever, Im bored Heroes goal: The reason hes doing what hes doing is because Goha's strict and boring laws along wit a confusing game make it hard to even think about having fun with Yugioh in the world of Yugioh Sevens. So he made not only an easier way to play, but one that doesn't have outrages restrictions on it (like not being able to trade without direct supervision). Focus of the series: No characters were forced into playing, they were just introduced to it and liked it, or wanted to use it at the very least. And The series is about beating Goha corp and having a fun game. Villain: I've already explained why Goha is a villain a for our crew in the goal section. Other character: Rook: I don't get what you mean by "force his role". Hes just a guy who cares about his friends and also wants to be a king of duels. Romin: The reason it wasn't personally given is because you getting the card out of hundreds of people makes it more special.

I disagree I think I would label it as underrated I mean looking at the first arc of sevens was more enjoyable than Gx and Zexal first story arcs , I mean Gx is my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh series , so that is saying something, I think the writing was solid and I don’t understand how can it be disappointing if nobody expect much from it in the first place , must people said the character design were too simplistic and didn’t like the first trailer they thought it was not appealing enough ( I was one of this people ) , also the claims were right ,but we can’t discard the quality of the animation and writing , the monsters intros animation are better than Vrains early episodes and the writing is interesting in a way that is the opposite of the previous show , so for example while Vrains was darker and melancholy, Sevens is more bright and comedic, I felt it was a breath of fresh air and a nice addition to the series, look I understand that you might not like this show because it different with direction , characters, style and the game rules in general, but I really can’t see it as disappointing as I and many people didn’t expect anything from it however I see it as underrated and if you are a Yugioh anime fan give it a try because you might like it .

I know that Mr. Kazuki Takahashi was still alive when the series had its ran. But for me the series died with its creator. Don't know how involved he was with Gx and forward. But the earlier series at least had some of Yugioh's charm.

Eh. The original 3 series were still in the noslagia phase but still featured stuff people liked with just different flavors of protagonists. This is when writers get the distinct idea to start introducing a combination of protagonists who were either novice at the game or playstyle facists like Yuya who were distinctly awful people you just didn't want to follow. Yusaku is probably the only protag in the last 8-10 years they actually nailed right. Not too much of a keet. Not a novice, and actually has a dark intricate story, and you understand his motivation. VRAINS was a step in the right direction then we're hit with this garbage Sevens. Shifting to a new studio is fine even if the art style is a step down in every direction. But its many things. Up to and including the actually hype up mechanics. I know there's a place for Rush Duels but they aren't fun and at alienated people who enjoyed master duels. Duels btw that the writer actually gave the nod to without overhyping Speed Duels. Rush Duels are inherent "YGO too hard no fun allowed duels" that insists on pushing vanilla monsters with no actual hook to strategy. Just make big monster(s). I guess there are maximum summons now but that's the sad thing. That's the spicy Rush Duels needed and its still not good. Its not disappointing - all and all - It just plain bad.

The sad thing is they could totally have done that with the game they made now. It's not the audience or the players fault that turned Speed Duels into a 'no fun allowed' zone where the card economy is so dismal that its an inherent turn off to the new generation. The format could have been pushed in 7s instead of trying to create this new jank version of MTG. YGO has enough mechanics that they could have simply just made a series that simplified or watered down the use of those mechanics. Maybe give older viewers nostalgia LITERALLY like they did in the last 2 series and just isolate parts of the game and create interesting duels out of that

I honestly probably could discusses any of the entries. Although the duel monsters is probably fairly low on my priority list, it does have quite a few interesting aspects. Even just looking at the character of Kaiba or the relationship between Yugi and Yami. There also the somewhat interesting aspects to the structure of the the plot points and story arcs. Which I think mostly stem from the loose workings between the anime and manga, but the end result is this fairly unique progression for the plot and characters. I guess it all depends on the future Yu-Gi-Oh videos and if people seem interested in more :^)

While i'll admit i didn't finish (mostly because i heard about the ending) i got pretty far into it and the duels got worse, the writing got worse, characters became flanderized idiots. It was a mess.
