everyone, myself included, initially thought it was too long or won't be that fun. Like it can't replace Naruto as my favorite or Bleach as my favorite or AOT as my favorite. But after watching it, almost everyone, if not all of them, consider it the greatest anime and not long enough. It is without a doubt one of the greatest stories ever told and the mysteries and the foreshadowing always keep you on your toes. Amazing characters too(I have a feeling you'll love Doffy)

I was an 11 year old boy. Now I am 31. Not one day since my father bought me the first 4 volumes have I been able to turn back. I've been in this journey almost since the beginning and it is literally a part of who I am. This story is insane. Eichiro Oda is a living historical figure that conjured a story unlike anything human history has seen before. Yes. You should definitely watch it. Better yet, read it like Oda himself drew/wrote it. The anime has its downsides, like awful pacing because it had to always stay behind the newest manga chapters. But the music and the voice acting make the anime also worth it if you can bear the occasional bad pacing. The story is worth it in the end. It's a once in a lifetime journey that makes people wish they could read/watch it as if they were ignorant of it again and again.

The craziest thing about it all is, that even though you've just watched all that sensory overload content. All you've really gotten from that is a scratch of the surface. All from 1 man's mind, and all you saw were some of the places we visit. Not only did each and every place you see there have their own cultures and interactions with other nations, but the sheer character depth and strangely realistic psychology in such an absurd world is masterful. I'm a bearded Scotman, I grew up in Scotland when it was knife crime capital of Europe. This author made me ugly cry over a boat. If you're interested in it, talk to your mods about the live action (though they do make changes like making people related to each other when they weren't and such). The live action is great and it's the perfect way to dip your toe into the One Piece waters. Despite being so good, it's a watered down version of the anime/manga. That isn't because the live action is bad, it's just that the anime and manga are that good. People will be watching, reading and discussing One Piece for hundreds of years. If it was written in a novel format, it would be brushing shoulders with Tolkein on the level of detail, world building and character work. Relating it to Lord of the Rings; the first season (and up to episode 90~ of the anime) functionally works the same as Frodo and Sam leaving the Shire. One Piece is a monument of human creativity and fiction at work where you can enjoy it as broadly as barely paying attention to it, all the way to picking apart every little thing from it's symbology, mythology, etc. etc. If you watch One Piece, it will become your favourite piece of fiction, and it's almost impossible to predict where it will go. Also, because these things annoy me too, but with aspects like the ships flying and stuff; they're just normal ships, but these things are explained in world and it all makes sense. The author is also patient beyond belief; he will leave breadcrumbs in blink and you'll miss it moments, or little lines of dialogue that don't seem important, that have massive effects further down the line, that the author doesn't pay off for literal decades in irl time. He is a fiction virtuouso who plays with your emotions expertly in a way that only he seems to be able to do. The ending of One Piece will be a cultural event shared all over the world. We're talking a cultural impact that's possibly greater than Dante's Divine Comedy; and it just keeps getting better. For example, there's unimportant side characters that Oda gives more depth and humanity than most authors have the capacity to give their main characters. He expertly wades through some of the hardest and most difficult complex topics and issues with such ease and elegance. One Piece is the shining golden example of what fiction can be, that I use as the gold standard to compare other fiction to. You will laugh, you will cry, you will rage, and you will feel so many emotions you're not expecting. Good luck on your journey, because it is a journey. I'll put it this way, I've yet to hear someone who's watched it actually complain about the length; because the time invested is more than worth it.

One piece has the most successful adaption and is the most successful show on Netflix. It’s the #3 manga in the world behind berserk and part 7? of jojos. If you’re a fan of world building and adventure, it’ll be your favorite story. It has emotional high and lows of every kind. It doesn’t have the linear only escalating power ups like Naruto, dbz, bleach, etc has. You could say that the fighting is the final justification of people’s dreams/ambitions rather than the punchline of the series. It’s how it keeps going. There’s a massive underlying story playing through out as well and our main characters have only just recently become main characters in this world. Phenomenal piece of fiction

I watch other anime react channels, and they say the same thing. They would like to watch it but are afraid to commit it since it's over 1000 episodes. If you watch one episode at a time, it will be years before you finish it. Even 5 episodes a day is brutal still. REMEMBER you are going to be watching Shippuden soon, and that's 500 episodes. Do you want to be locked down by two long anime?. You will burn yourself out really quick. I've never watched it myself, but that's because it's 1000 plus episodes, and I don't have the time to commit to that.

If you go into One Piece with the intention of brute forcing through the episodes to catch up to the current episodes you'll either burn yourself out or come to dislike the series. Take it at your own pace and enjoy the journey, there's no shame in watching a couple arcs and then taking a break and coming back to it later. That's one of the best things about it being long, you can take breaks inbetween arcs without feeling like you're obliged to keep on going into the next arc. It's like a friend you only text every couple of months but they always welcome your company.

This is one of the better introductory videos to OP because it shows the islands you'll encounter without giving too much away. The crazy thing is lots of these islands have histories, cultures, and lore built around them. The world building in one piece can't be beat and its one of many reasons why the series is so loved. I always look forward to your Naruto and JJK reactions, but i absolutely can't wait to see your One Piece journey. Just remember to bring your tissues.

There is no contender in my heart for favourite anime, will always be One Piece. And I’ve watched dozens prior to and hundreds of anime since watching One Piece and I can honestly say I haven’t found anything, including the other 2 of the Big 3 that had as much of an impact on me.
