One SIMPLE MISTAKE Had me remove my gearbox 4 TIMES!

The Barra Powered Crown Wagon suffered a TH400 Failure due to Oil surge within a standard height transmission pan.
With a freshly built TH400 from Mark at Outcast Automotive were ready to get the crown wagon back on the road but unfortunately not everything goes to plan and one simple mistake had us removing the gearbox over 4 times trying to find a leak!

This is awesome Woody. Everyone learns from an expert cause an expert is someone that has made all the mistakes. I’ve been working on designing bash plates for Pajero’s. I was filming a video last week on my mates channel and said to him, Woody busted his low mount factory intercooler and sucked water into his engine. When we installed the bash plates and inspected the intercooler we found a crack! If it wasn’t for your video on the padje we may not have inspected the intercooler and saved a big issue in the future. Keep up the great work.

This is what we call a learning experience, and from what I've seen so far in my life, I'm going to be having them for as long as I live :D Love the Crown wagon too, it just has it all. I can see why you'd want to hang onto it too, but obviously if offered enough money to build another one down the road and have cash left over for another project it would be silly not to take it. Any buyers might want to get on it though, I think there's a point of "nah, I'm keeping it" approaching fast now that the car is on the road being used!

Just rebuild box yaself, there pretty simple just gotta be careful not to lose one of the 50 balls inside them and always buy extra teflon rings for the big piston, as your going to put a cut in first time you try and install it

I feel your pain re: pulling out the gear box again and again. I thought mine was all good but the OEM Toyota FIPG disintegrated and it leaked. I wiped the gasket off with a cloth! What's that!? The oil resistant black stuff from supercheap is waaay better. There is nothing like finishing a job only to have it leak fluid! Such a bummer

Was that steering box leaking before the barra swap, maybe it got cooked as well,.....thats a frustration with the trans man, just had the same thing at work , but it was the automated brain for a fiat ducato, some one else had marked the internal seal surface where it mates to the gearbox........

ZF6 would be the better choice, the main reason was that I purchased this gearbox over 5 years ago and the aftermarket support for the ZF6 wasn’t there which is why I went TH400. If I were buying everything again I’d stick with a ZF6
