Fun fact: Hikaru said after the game on his Twitch stream that he played Knight g3 by mistakes since he confused some lines of his preparation in the open spanish. The move he actually prepared was bishop to g5, which is the best move. He also said that he was able to create a winning advantage thanks to that mistake because Fabi did not expect that move.

The fact you didn't talk about the COAT is a crime against chess. For those who didn't see, Hikaru put his coat on when he was sure he won. This was crazy to watch. Every time it seemed Fabi was out, Hikaru made a suspicious move and let him back in and it seemed like that went on for 2 or 3 hours straight. Had Fabi found one or two specific moves this game would amazing have been a draw . . . Had Hikaru played 2 or 3 better moves it would have been over a long time ago. Fabi showed pure determination here. I think this game was good character development for both players.
@johnkirk17722 жыл бұрын
Yeah but as Hikaru said before: the quality of the games is far below their standards in the candidates for some reason.. and honestly I have to agree - hikaru is now contender? Hikaru who retired from classical and was never the best in the format regardless? And not like he wins by all best moves - lots of inaccuracies in these games - Magnus would wipe the floor with that competition Anhand, Giri are more capable atm - maybe the format needs to be changed to playoffs

I hadnt noticed until recently, that you posted all the moves of the game on the description of every video, I think is something you should mention in the videos (as not everyone pays attention to the description), there are lots of position where I just wonder "why didn't they play X move?" and I used to manually place the pieces on liches analysis board to find out, so just importing the whole game becomes very useful. I know you try to cover a lot of lines and variants and explain why some moves can't be played, but there are just so many possibilities. Great videos btw.
