Commentators giving Puertas a little too much credit. He's tough as hell, but man did he take a beating. I don't know what they were talking about 2-2 going into the final round. Superlek won every round and pretty much every exchange. Great fight though. Both guys went hard to the end. Much respect.

Roughly the same age, (31 and 28) Puertas has only 42 fights under his belt whereas Superlek has over 170 fights. That’s the reason why he is more complete. Western fighters have two things more superior over Thai fighters, power and size. There is no arts and technics because these two things can’t be taught in just 30 something fights.

@@Dayan_D Not at all. Clinching will happen when two guys are engaged in close range while constantly moving forward. Which is what Superlek did with his relentless forward pressure. Running away is avoiding the action altogether. Boxers clinch all the time. Tyson Fury comes to mind. He has a boxing style with lots of clinching that has gotten him several knockdowns in his career. There are different ways to prevent an opponent from clinching. They can either use their strength to push them off or they need power and accuracy with their strikes to prevent their opponent from getting too comfortable in their range. Puertas wasn't able to because he kept whiffing most of his strikes.
