In this video I go through basic tool paths that are available on Carbide Create and the outcome. I needed to make this video because I was trying to figure out the difference for a project I am working on. There is a difference so please take note.
Cheers,

Good info for the beginner. One splits the bit, one adds the bit width and one leaves exactly the measurement your shooting for.

Either left or right will give you the measurement you are looking for, just depends on whether you are trying to climb or conventional mill. Both will move half the dia. of the cutter away. No offset will not take the dia. Of the cutter into consideration, typically used for engraving purposes the cutter will be dead center over the drawn geometry. Typically one would use left offset for everything and only change the direction the tool is cutting to determine whether cutting inside or outside. Ex moving in a clockwise direction to cut outside and counter clockwise to cut inside. If wanting to use conventional milling you do the opposite

Why does it look like the cuts are crooked? I have never used a cnc before but was looking at purchasing the onefinity after looking at shapeoko and inventables one.

Because my piece was not square on the waste board before cutting.

@@jefferdman3433 heck yeah for two reasons and mainly you don’t have to have a computer hooked up to the CNC. Second is the construction. There are no belts, v groove wheels or limit switches to mess with.
