My personal favorite Onimusha game. A lot of people would complain that the characters are campy and cartoony but thats what I like about the supporting characters and demons. there's a lot more personalities for every character that you even sympathize for some of the villains.

Agreed. RE is making money right now, but if they keep hammering that series alone, they'll end up in the same situation they were in before. One where they've saturated the market with RE games and the public just isn't as interested in the series.

This was legit the first game to get me to tear up. Kotaro was my favorite side character, so I was always trying to get his relationship maxed out. I was so happy when I finally got the last scene with him, then it turned out to be a big damn hero sacrifice. I guess you missed one thing, in this game you can chain Issen in two ways. 1. You Time your next input at the apex after your issen (If memorie serves me right i think you can chain up to 7 of them) 2. You can level 3 charge any weapon and if you manage to do a charged issen you kill every enemy on screen (again if memorie serves me right up to 7) This is literally the only game where I love playing as the side characters. I personally didnt quite enjoy Kaede in Onimusha 1. Other than that This is my favorite Onimusha game :)

I picked up the fourth one, skipping past the 3rd, in like 2005 and loved seeing all the weapons that were throwbacks to weapons from the first and second. After finally playing the third years later and seeing weapons like the Gokumanii being so important really makes me appreciate the inclusion of them in the fourth game.

I love Onimusha 2. The "Samurai dating" system has always been fun for me and Gogandantess is easily the most memorable villain in the series. Definitely cheesy and kind of goofy but so quotable in a Resident Evil 1 kind of way. I don't like Jubei as much as a character as Samanosuke but he's memorable enough and I like the journey that he goes through in this game. I also love the replay value in this game. I've played it probably a dozen times since it was released and I still haven't seen everything in the game according to the story map unlocked at the end of the game.

Fun fact about the game's intro video: the song that plays, "Russian Roulette" is performed by Tomoyasu Hotei, the same musician who created the iconic "Battles without honor or humanity" from the Kill Bill series. If this game ever got an HD port, I would hope they would keep the song, it's a so damn catchy. As for the game itself, I quite liked it, even if some elements weren't quite the same as the original. The companions were pretty entertaining, though I never got to play the game enough to witness every story path with them, but I remember getting at least most of them to be friends. That cutscene for the final boss was rather hilarious, with the voices saying "You. Will. DIE!" and then the statue trumpets like an elephant.

Onimusha 2 has been my second favorite game since i first played it (it was my first favorite till halo 3 came out). Glad you enjoyed it, surprised you didnt like the gifting system. I think you understanding the system too well may have hurt how the system actually works. My first play through, back when it released, i didnt really get how the gifts worked. So i just played the game, gave people stuff cause i thought they would like it and beat the game. my mind was blown when magoichi arrived in the second to last boss fight, and literally one shot the boss for me. I replayed the game immediately, not meaning to do things differently but i did. ended up being homies with ninja boy instead. It was mind blowing at the time. Like i got to play a silly action b movie, then i got to play the "what if" version.

From all the series that's my favourite one. Still remember when we bought ps2 back in late 2002 with Onimusha 2, silent hill 2, Max Payne and Dropship(its somewhat of a Ace combat clone). One of the best times in my life.

I played it several times and I could never really guess what to give to each character. I couldn't even find a walk-through to get and idea jaja. I still love that game!

My favorite title in the series, even after playing 1 and 3, i think its because it was fixed in the samurai era and the enemies gave me a resident evil vibe, the more recent ones like that fat merchant Duke of Bioshock bosses to be more precise, anyway im getting of track here, my favorit thing about this game is the random friendly encounters and the cut scenes where something to look for, kind like the resident evil 2 the 1998 one ;)

I loved this game, but plot-wise, I felt like the "evil golden statue" thing was a bit random. Including the elephant noise lol.

I did the exact same thing. I loved part one and gave part two about an hour then put it down. I didn’t come back to it until after part 3 came out.

I loved this game. Giving different npcs gifts and playing as them for a bit. All the different weapons. This game had so much replayability.

I loved Onimusha 2 more than 1. If only they would remake this one as well… but given that 1’s remake sold so badly, it’s not going to happen.
