This podcast, Jocko, and cleared hot are my go to’s ... Tho lately I’ve discovered the “Combat Story” podcast with a former Apache helicopter pilot and the “Team Room” podcast with former Ranger and Green Beret Jack Murphy. Both have been excellent additions to the daily rotation. I like Shawn Ryan’s show too but he doesn’t upload enough for me to consider it something I listen to periodically.

Mike, to answer your question about Aussies and Brits putting an "R" on the end of words - youtuber Lindybeige (interesting guy, British dude) has a video on it. He said he never realized he did it, its subconscious, but when he listened to himself, it's more like putting the R at the beginning of the following word. When a word ends with "A" and the next word starts with "A", it makes pronunciation smoother. Kind of how we say "an apple" instead of "a apple". California "rand" Virginia "rand" Oklahoma. Im glad you asked her though, I caught it myself! No offense to Miss McKay, I could listen to her talk all day! Got to be honest, I wasn't super enthusiastic about this one before I listened, since I'm so used to your door kicker / pipe hitter guests. But holy shit, this was one of the best ones yet. What an articulate woman and intelligent conversation! Also, I've tried listening to other podcasts in the lull between your episodes. Most are done remotely with Skype or something. The audio quality of yours being in person in a studio is unparalleled, and not having a "phone lag" lets conversations take spontaneous twists, have witty shit-talking, etc. I love it man. Great work!

I noticed a difference between "Team Guy" interviews and interviews with everyone else. When interviewed on this show the team guys and the host both get VERY quiet, almost as if they are trying to out whisper each other. Listening to this in a fairly noisy factory with normal audio levels was pretty awesome.

Mike really quickly here: Russia got involved in Syria to primarily to prop up the Syrian Orthodox Church. Russia historically viewed is role in the Balkans and Middle East before the Russian revolution as the protector of Orthodox Christians. Yes, Syria and Russia have a historical alliance that dates back to the Cold War, however Putin used the war in Syria to reassert Russia's historical claim in the Orthodox world. Naturally there are other geopolitical interests that factored into the Russian decision to intervene, however Russia cited the need to protect Orthodox Christians from genocide as its casus belli.

As far as the PC culture in America goes, I think it depends on what part of the country you’re in. I grew up in the Boston area and tho outsiders might influence a more uptight sort of atmosphere, the people who live in that area are often times very sarcastic and forth coming to the point where ppl may look at it as rudeness. Probably where the term “masshole” comes from... but being a transient to NYC and the celebrity scene in LA like she was, I’m sure none of that existed within those circles.
@BostonsF1nest3 жыл бұрын
I agree with her, I think Somalia is the scariest place on planet earth. At least in Iraq and Afghanistan you have some semblance of government and security within the national armies, US troops stationed there, or police. Somalia has been lawless for decades. Just based off the videos I’ve seen on the internet and articles I’ve read, the pirates and militia groups in power down there are extremely fucking ruthless and vile. Not to mention the cannibalism that exists down there. That’s one place I would not dare venture if I were a journalist alone without a firearm and armed security at all times. It’s really unfortunate too because of its location and the miles of white sandy beaches they have, they’d probably rake in billions of dollars in tourism, real estate, and shipping if they ever got their shit together.
