He passed away in Jan 2021 due to a heart attack. got his weight down to 20 stone (280 pounds) after his health problems got worse, calorie intake went down to 1,500 (which is insane given what it was at when they filmed this). RIP Barry, seemed like a nice man.

He can afford it because our government thinks that it should give our tax money to big fat slobs like this. He is literally given thousands a month in benefits because he is classed as disabled and unable to work. There's a big fat family living across the road from one of my mates and they've just been given a £37,000 walk in shower room because they're too fat to fit in a human shower. That's on top of the thousands they already get in benefits. It makes me feel sick

@cami.nugent2388
@cami.nugent2388 5 жыл бұрын
Angelo Stevens I never said that no one can ever be joked about, but you must acknowledge that he has probably been verbally abused for a long time because of his weight. No one deserves to be humiliated their whole life. Some people cannot lose weight. It’s built into their genes, causing it to be nearly impossible to lose a significant amount. I know someone who committed suicide because they were so badly abused due to their weight. It caused them to become depressed and eventually end their life. It was a devastating loss to our family and friends, they were so kind and funny, but I guess the years and years of verbal abuse was all too much. So don’t you dare go around saying that because he isn’t losing weight he doesn’t deserve to be treated decently as a human being. We are all in this together and that kind of hatred will only move us backwards in the progress of evolution and acceptance.

I'm a recovering chronic overeater...my weight peaked at 492 pounds in 1999. The following June, I was approved for a Roux-en-Y bypass. I went down to half that in about a year...after a lot of work at the gym, I was half that. I'm 230 pounds to this day. I'll be 62 in December, and I absolutely know I'd have been dead 20 years ago if I had that procedure. I understand the purpose of this special...it's meant as a wake-up call to people who struggle with this. What's bad here is trying to frame this man as something other than human. That's helpful to nobody, especially to people fighting the notion that they are no longer human.

I love Barry’s Britishness. No excuses or bs he just likes eating and admits it’s his fault. I think he’d be a breath of fresh air for Dr Now. I hope he gets some help as he certainly would be an inspiration for many and deserves a happy life. I was really happy to see his mate tell him to stop eating as real friends will tell you the hard truth, anyone can tell u everything’s fine.

Barry seems like a very nice bloke who seems aware of his issues but underneath his jovial easy going manner you can see he is aware and unhappy about the direction his life is taking. I’m glad his friend spoke up about him needing to take more care of his body. I was a bit shocked after his medical crisis that his girlfriend still served a massive meal up to him with little concern. Even small changes could make a difference such as grilling or oven baking and increasing the vegetable content, more water and less sugary drinks and he would be surprised at how much better he felt. Luckily he is still mobile so setting achievable activity goals that you gradually increase. I did see he has lost weight so hopefully he has made better choices.
