@stelamo There were min. 4 cars. Today one is in Rüsselsheim by Opel, one in England by Vauxhall, anotherone also in England by xtrac. And one were used from John Welch for Rallycross, this one dind't exist today.

Und ja, die story ist wahr... , gibt Foren und Internetseiten, die das bestätigen... Und die 256km/h waren mit einem dementsprechend konfigurierten Getriebe möglich.

@NYron51 sry just notice reply :P i had heard john welch's car was broken for parts was hoping it wasn't true... such a shame :( i thought welsh was given 2 by Opel one for parts ?

Johns original car was one of the two kadett 4x4 used in the 1986 paris dakar rally (the other car still exists in private ownership) John wrote off that original car in 1989 when he crashed it backwards into a bank at lydden hill. John and gartrac built a second car from a spare shell, which is the one in this video. as you say it was later fragmented for parts.

This engine was a 2.4 16V engine from Manta 400 the reduct the displacment to 2.1 cc. The put a turbo on it an with a steamwheel it makes for a short time to 1500 hp
