Like this rest for oysters because your able to sit down. Was raised in the Chesapeake region and always always always opened them from the "lip" end. Have watched several "professionals" hinge them and always on closer inspection the oysters are more nicked up and have more grit on them and the muscle is frequently ripped from the oyster. We use a section of 16 inch diameter hardwood log about 8 to 10 inches tall that has a concave surface to brace the oyster in when opening. Almost a rough bowl affect that gets deeper over time. Tanks for the video.

It's funny, I live 1 hour 30 minutes away from Smith Point by car, but only 45 minutes away by boat or jet ski. My wife wants me to shuck her oysters for Valentine's day. This video has been great help. Thanks!

I thought the video was a little drawn out in the beginning, the ending had me drooling :D , but well worth the watch! im new to shucking and started getting good at it. I wanted to research and see how others got there pretty oysters out with minimum damage and I'm so glad i came across your video. I learned some techniques and your time was appreciated in making this video!!

If the hinge method fails I deliberately chip the bill/front so I can stick my shucking knife in there but now I see i may need a different knife , THANKS !

Where did you buy those oyster knives? They look nice..
@equipyourselflifeskills58023 жыл бұрын
You can order them from most fishing shops. I live on the coast so they can be found in a lot of places. You may also try some of the net making shops on line. I don’t know who may carry them but you can start with Memphis Net and Twine Co or Jannsnetcraft Co, also try some restaurant supply houses, hope that helps.
