*UPDATE* (12/2) SQUAD: I am not dead as many seem to think. A new video is in the works, and will be out within weeks, as well as a possible update video. I logged on for the first time to find a lot of activity, from the O.G's of the squad to a lot of newcomers. All are welcome, and I feel you have deserved an explanation for my disappearance. I am a Security Patrol Officer Supervisor (yes, like Barney lol), as well as a full-time student working towards becoming a Police Officer. My week consists of working swing (3PM-midnight) and on weekends graveyard, a total of 40/HR work weeks, with all my spare time being spent in school. My life before that has been dedicated 100% to the squad, because I, just like you, love the world Half-Life has given us, and ache to see more. The story of Taylors represents that. I would've not even logged back on if it weren't for Zach Burkey checking up on me. WELSHGAMER PRODUCTIONS, Corporal Isaac and Corporal Xander also contacted me in my personal life to check up on me (and make sure I didn't die!). I also noticed Squad members defending these videos when the usual neck-bearded Troll appeared, as they often do for some reason, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE (cough* Corporal Xander cough* Gene Worm cough* many more), and I see you. To me that motivates me, makes me want to do better KNOWING that the hours spent on these are affecting people as they do to me, also it secures you're position into the Wall of Shout-Outs at the end of the upcoming videos. The funny thing about hate is that, if I did this for a living it probably would hurt to see people dislike these things, but the fact is, I am never going to be a "KZbinr". Law-Enforcement is my main interest, it is what I pursue day and night, it is what gets me out of bed every day. I do these videos out of love for the games, as well as the motivation of positive Squad Members such as yourselves. But on the contrast, the love that I see coming from you guys is what really keeps these videos coming, as I said I would've quit a LOOONG time ago if it weren't for that. The amount of Half-Life love from fans like us is amazing, from 2 games to some Expansion Packs we are all going crazy, let us hope that Valve notices this too. Until they do, expect more material coming from independent creators like Opposing Forces. The squad is strong, and remember, KEEP UP THE KILLING!

+Opposing Forces Here's a fan theory: What if the Galactic Empire found Earth via a Superportal created by the Combine using the Borealis, and launched an invasion as a demonstration of power by having 2 galaxies, and/or using natural resources such as geothermal, solar, wind, water, etc. That would be a really cool Half Life SFM. And if YOU made it, I'm sure it would be nothing sort of awesome! So keep that in mind in case you want to another episode.

Opposing Forces Indeed I did enjoy it! So what kind of fight do you plan on next? If you still have my ancient addon, I'm pretty sure there is a Kingpin in that. Plan on using that one? Always thought you could do a video on Xen or Race X (or both?) invading. But anyways, I thought Kingpin would be cool, since that is the theorized leader of Xen, after Nihilanth was confirmed not to be. Not sure if SNPCs in Garry's Mod work for SFM, which is what you're doing now. So maybe that wouldn't work? Also, one question about the Gargantua in your previous films. Is there a reason you used the Gonarch death cry for those, or was it just an effect you used for the sake of not using the exact same Garg death sound?

Gene Worm aaah very observant! that is why you are the gene worm, of course you'd notice that! yes absolutely, the Garg sound is very rough and scratchy, amazing in-game when your not really trying to pay attention to it but run the fuck away from it hahah, but in cinematic form the gonarch cry is almost sad, gives a different effect when I first heard it while maintaining that giant alien feel. also I still am using your SNPC's, I have a program that transfers Gmod units into SFM, only works for some and it worked for yours thank god, ive used a few already but you can bet I use those files every session, at least one. I praise you, gene worm, for your contributions, also I agree the Kingpin is badass for sure, I'm glad to know he is in the files. Hey random question, I know you know about the Airwatch, the combine overwatch airforce, how would you imagine the soldiers controlling the helicopters to look like? would they just look like regulard combine overwatch footsoldiers but in a helicopter, or are they actually different would you say?

Opposing Forces Oh, nice! And I know what you mean about the Gonarch cry. Although, that thing was a pain in the arse when I first played Half-Life, so I was quite satisfied when it exploded into juice. But the slow cry was more climactic and sad than the Gargantua roar that is covered in explosions. One note about the actual Kingpin (also happens with Pit Worm) SNPC. A bug that was never mentioned was that on certain maps, their lasers don't show up. They work fine, but for some reason they don't appear. I know they work fine on the default maps, Big City, Audacity, Atomic, and a few more. And on completely flat areas of maps that have no invisible paths that NPCs walk on, called "Nodegraphs" (like a desert map, called something like "Red Iron", or something), they stand still and create errors. And about Airwatch, that's actually a good question. I know for a fact that it included the Combine Gunships. But it could have the Dropship, the Advisor Pod, or the Hunter-Chopper. I think it could include the Chopper, but not so sure about Advisor Pods, or Dropships. Even though they are organic aircrafts, in their own ways, they aren't used as an airforce. Advisor Pods just send the Advisors somewhere else, and drop them off, and the Dropships drop off Combine Overwatch soldier to battle. So I think it'd make more sense for their airforce to be Gunships, Choppers, and perhaps there were other cut Combine aircrafts, that no one is aware of.

Interesting concept, and ironically, still true to the whole "Opposing Forces" name at least. I think it would be interesting to get an official addon / DLC to play as Combine for HL2 (since we didn't get it for 2), letting you explore the world out of their perspective. At least initially. You could be a metrocop, thus giving you flexibility if you switch sides from a story POV, or letting you interact better or a soldier, or you are both, first this, then that. Of course as soldier, switching sides (if intended) would be more tricky, but then again they could just pull off something unlikely like here. I always got the impression (from RP and implied lore) that OW soldiers "breaking away" would be highly unlikely. But not impossible perhaps. G-Man handwavium, "glitch" / damage or being "reprogrammed" during the mental preparation or so. Or perhaps simply by highjacking dispatch / higher layers somehow that can give orders to those. Okay, in that perspective, playing a metrocop might be easier to handle. Then again, you would not really go outside unless, however, you were thrown into the chaos or a time past the riots. I could imagine a plot like this: You are metrocrop and the DLC / Addon starts. Perhaps before the riots and then they happen and you get to somehow survive or as they already started. Then again, I think it's unlikely we get to see this from "their" side for HL3. I think it's more likely they'll thaw Shepard out as another human fighter.

Yeah in a server I was in my main character went from THAT citizen that doesn't talk and is very quiet, to a rebel that is still quiet but will yell up a storm, to an OTA experimental soldier to a, rogue OTA loosing her mind while being hunted by an OTA Elite division called "Rogue" that hunts down and amputates any/all rogue CPs/OTA, So yeah rogue OTAs is rare as fuck but it possible

MegaMrbeta we follow the story line of the game, however none of this was covered in Half-Life or Half-Life 2, they just set the building blocks. When you enter Half-Life 2, the only information they gave us is that the world was taken over by a mysterious species simply known as the Combine, and that there was a terrible war and messy take-over process which has left most humans subjects to this Combine species, these humans are known as "Overwatch", and they essentially police the rest of the population into submission. These episodes are simply to glean a little light towards that messy take-over process, and add a visual to what fans like me have been reading on the wiki pages. to compare on a timeline, the events of this episode are before Gordon Freeman's re-appearence, but after the 7 hour war. nuKeMCbobBer not a stupid question my friend, we take the same stance as Gearbox with Opposing Force: we created a new strand of story line within an existing universe, although none of this is ever mentioned in the games, I try to make it out of events that shaped what we know of as Half Life 1 and 2. thanks for being interested and keep up the killing!

Chronologic Timeline incoming!!!!!! Half Life 1 and Half Life Opposing Force's tutorial level take place around the same time as each other. Then the first 3/4 levels of Half Life 1 take place at the same time as the first 2 chapters of Blue Shift, then Renaissance Cascade happens which both Blue Shift and Half Life 1 go pretty much parallel with each other except Blue Shift ends around the time when Shepard would have woken up from the crash that he was in and by the time Shepard finds Freeman, Freeman had JUST jumped into the portal that teleports him to Xen and the end of HL1

Half Life 2 take place 20 years afterwards give or take and the incident that happened led a group of enslaved alien races called "The Combine" was drawn to Earth when the portal that where ripped open because of Black Mesa got their attention, meanwhile on Earth because of the portal ripped open from Black Mesa sort of safe zones where established in major cities to defend from not only the now running rampant and recently freed Xenian creature but to practically huddle up in a corner and hope to not die from the portal storms

+Corporal Xander CORPORAL! I'm back from the dead, I logged on for the first time in months and I am pleased to see the squad is still strong. Will be putting up a new video soon, I must say I think I missed you guys more than you could imagine. Thank you, Andrew D. and Xspy70 for understanding about the wait. I happened to come across haters talking shit, and I felt a sense of true brotherhood to see you and the others in the squadron ripping them to shit. It'd be one thing if I did this for money, the hate would mean something, but the fact is I am not a "KZbinr" nor will I ever be, I am just a working person who does this for the love of the squad because I, just like you guys, want to see Half-Life material outside just the amazing games they gave us, and it seems as though Valve has forgotten about us (hopefully I am wrong about that). I truly love you guys, I would've quit a long time ago if it weren't for having a bunch of badass dudes shoulder to shoulder with me in this.

I love the concept and story of the HECU grunts, and how you've realistically filled the aftermath story Valve never gave us. I hope we get a word on them from Valve one day.
