Opeth's music isn't easy. You really need to understand and feel that to really enjoy it. It's true art for specific group of people who can appreciate it, it's not for everyone. That's why they are not more popular and I'm glad about that
@lawleit81537 жыл бұрын
Scream Bloody Gore..Are you glad about that?that's one of the reasons that this band doesn't take proper recognition..Most metalheads are keeping this "incredible discovery" for themselves because it makes them feel special and unique for fuck's sake..I agree with you nonetheless..Fortunately this band doesn't make easy-commercial music..but you spoiled your statement with the last sentence!

I can't believe some guy at Sputnikmusic said this song (and 2 other songs from BP) were "boring to the point of tears"!! To me this, Bleak and Blackwater Park are my favorite songs out of the album. All the atmosphere, the ambience in those songs are just amazing. Breathtaking even! But that's my opinion. BP will remain to many (if not all) Opeth fans the greatest album the band ever released! And to know that Steven Wilson had something to do with that, makes me like it even more. That man definitely knows what he does. Amazing work! Would've been nice to hear him singing like he did in the album though :)

About Lopex vs Axe, you can definitely draw a parallel between Portnoy and Mangini. Mangini is technically a better drummer, but Portnoy fit way better in DT. Also, Portnoy sounds better live and his performances are usually far more lively and passionate, same with Lopez. Axe might be a "better" drummer, but Lopez was the perfect drummer for Opeth.
@sammyloehnis33733 жыл бұрын
Nah I think it's different. Sure, Axe is more technical than Lopez, as is Mangini, but the groove is still there, although Axe hasn't got the latin zest that Lopez had. It's different, but Axe still grooves like a beast and is more or less spot on live.
