Nolan is without a doubt this generations equivalent of Spielberg, no one can mix sentimentality and layered, intellectual writing with grand spectacle like Nolan. I mean if you can make a biopic about a scientist, which is what Oppenheimer essentially is at its core, and make it look like a grand thriller, you know you’re at the top of your craft, maybe even the best working today. I personally wouldn’t say he’s number 1 but certainly top 5-10.
