Kind of a cross between Porsche and the Mini Cooper. Exactly what you would expect given the German influence on the car - it shows! The Ora Funky Cat is equal in build to the VW ID4 and at $30,000 it handles like you’d anticipate with a premium sports car. The Chinese have made impressive strides with their automotive industry and I’m not too far off the mark here in saying it rivals Japanese and Korean cars in terms of quality. I like what I see!

I love it. In many ways I REALLY love it,... Just not at that price. Realistic 150-180 mile range for £30k+? This isn't 2017. I don't mind that range at all, as it happens. Perfectly fine. But that battery doesn't cost that much.

The weirdest thing is that my 500e has a 42kw battery, 37 usable and gets 150-170 real world. Maybe the Cat is slightly heavier but I am not sure what else explains the larger battery with similar range. Mine cost me £25k. It’s not got the cameras but t does have heated seats which this morning have been a real bonus. When they announced this originally it looked like a good option but the differential in spec nowhere near justifies the price.

@@spacecadetrik21 I've Googled the dimensions which shows the Cat is quite a lot larger and heavier than the Fiat 500e and aimed more at the family market. That said, I agree that the Cat is a bit overpriced and I wouldn't swop my 500e for it either.

If you have USB-C and want to charge on it, maybe get a lighter plug with an USB-C port on it. There must be something like this. Yes, it's a woraround, but it could work. Or a USB-A to USB-C adapter if that exists and if the USB-A power rating is enough. But the 12V to USB-C would give any charging power necessary, but it wouldn't be a data connection. ... But for cold climates (colder than typically on your island ;-) there should be a heated seat option. It really would make a difference on these leather or pseudo-leather seats in freezing temperatures.

My Zoe's leatherette is sweaty, but my 1983 SJ410 had plastic based seats that were not very sweaty, must have been texture? This car is 5k too much money? Too much tech in cars these days. My Zoe's current problem seems to be "the computer says no" for example car wont turn off! A futuristic looking cat but less distinctive in the flesh(?) than I thought.

Hi Nickie! This is not so much about the car, but some confusing statements, which is handled different by all the testers. Range is: 193, I guess that is a full battery driven to completely empty. I get that, but then we mix in the charging. 44 minutes from 15 to 80% you say. Some say 10 to 80%, some 20 to 80%, Why not use the same interval? And when you have charged like this, then what is the actual range? You only charged to 80% and always leave 15% in the battery, so I guess the range is 65% of the 193 = 125 miles. So shouldn't it be this figure (125) that is mentioned as the range? Because everybody tells, the first 10-20% and the last 20% is very slow charging and not good for the battery. Take good care of your car, charge only between 10 or 15 or 20% and up to 80%, then the 125 miles is the actual range! Isn't this a topic you could discuss inside your circles? Agree on using the same, all of you. And just a small complaint. As I know, England has accepted the metric system. That means kilometers, not miles. Why do you still continue with this old system? I know the Americans won't, They're lost, poor guys. I live in Sweden, they're also using the metric, except in the car industry. There they use MIL which is 10 km. The signs on the road says x km to a city, speed limit is x km, the tachometer(?) and the speedometer in the car says km, but the dealership can only talk about MIL. At least km and Swedish MIL is easier to calculate.

There is no problem to charge the car for the last 20% from 80 to 100 if you're not using a super fast charger. Charge to your heart's content at home or with slower chargers. The degradation is related to fast charging.

I'm sure the technology involved is far more sophisticated than we're led to believe here. It was a very poor part of the video. That and the comical way to open a window. "Could you please wind down the window?" How about "Hello Ora, open the window". When was the last time you wound down a window? Hahaha. I have watched plenty of Ora Cat videos and people over 6ft are easily getting in the back with huge amounts of leg room in front (and room above their heads). This review had a lot going for it, but a lot was rubbish, in my opinion.

@@HotYogaDoctor you're not wrong about the voice recognition. It was like watching a Brit in Spain saying the same thing over and over, in an increasingly louder voice, in the hope that it suddenly understands English if you're talking loud enough

Great, interesting video. Pleased to see that we old folks all have problems with modern voice control. £32K? No chance too expensive by far. Plastic seats? Remember those from the '80s. Not an advanced feature. Lovely voice could listen all day, not the car. EV's then, all about gadgets and toys and not really about driving? Looking forward to a failed system update or two, especially when it is 3-5 years old..

This reviewer seems to not understand this car before doing this review . It does not detect yawning it detects if your eyes are closing . It detects if your looking down at your phone not around the other windows . She was using too many words for the voice controls . Usb is still the main ports used across most cars. Ora is a big step up in quality from mg etc also strangely though everywhere but the UK has lower price more range and bigger battery

Those headlight still remind me of a VW Beetle rather than a Porsche. The car seems fine design wise and does look "funky". What I would like to see more of in such reviews, especially for cars from Chinese manufacturers, is more awareness about the personal data. That camera for facial recognition is a silly excuse for watching the driver and God knows where the video feed will go to. I mean, if the car is yours, why would you want it to remember your preferences? I'd simply tape the camera over.

Man adopts to machine capability. Man should not expect machine to adopt to his wishes, because it can not do that. But if he wishes so, than man has to talk to the designers of the machine to design a machine to fulfill his wishes. But then comes another man with different wishes and the designers have to redesign a different machine again. And then comes a third man and says, why is this machine not doing what I want? And at this point I have to remember the wise man Prince who once said, “ maybe I’m just like my mother, she’s never satisfied!

This review was so much better than fully charged. I am so tired of that old man wincing on with a bad (if not a touch racist) Chinese history lesson out of nowhere. Heck the info most people want is up front here. Refreshing! I also liked your discussion about the quality of life touches the other reviews miss out on.

It will definitely hurt iD3 sales as it is just the better car with a lovingly design and nice interior, and they definitely make the same software mistakes.

What's disappointing is that this is the lower battery, which implies the bigger will be more, the charging speeds as well. Missed opportunity

Disappointed with the price tag but "from £25k" was always aspirational rather than achievable. A few glitches but suspect that the first refresh will resolve many issues. As it stands I'd take a Corsa, MG4 or Zoe over this offer. As demonstrated the interior reminds me of a tarts boudoir, er, or what I imagine a tarts boudoir would look like

Recognition has to have tolerance, as you need to be able to look left and right. Tiredness recognition takes more than one data point. So it's clever enough to spot you aren't over any of the thresholds rather than dumb enough to be triggered by brief fakery.

how is it ID3/MG4 size but with a 200L boot? Seems the opposite of what you’d like from an EV - big but small inside. Range is ok for a second car but then the price isn’t. £32k is crazy, ‘first edition’ or not.

Over price Chinese import . In Asia cost 17000. It doesn’t cost them by ship £15000 per car to ship a car to Europe
@NormanF62
@NormanF62 2 жыл бұрын
The price difference is explained by the tougher European car safety standards the Ora Funky Cat has to meet which it doesn’t have to do in the Asian market. No wonder its priced higher in the UK.

Awesome EV. We would buy one instantly when it would come at a price that was comparable with China prices ($15.000) for the Ora. Not for the EU €36.000. I wonder where that double in price difference comes from. Cant be shipping only (Around €2.500 shipping) So it will be extra "China" tax to protect the European EV manufactors.

@@-V-K- Thanks for the info. I kinda knew i stayed on the very high side for shipping and handling. Your numbers are more accurate, and show what the governments are doing to protect their old car industry, and accept that they will be producing poluting ICE cars for many years to come.
