Nice to have Piccolo become more relevant in dragonball again, especially with the dragonball super superhero movie. Dragonball super superhero is without a doubt Piccolo's movie. Orange Piccolo is a great form for Piccolo, and allows him to compete with the saiyans again. It is strange that while Piccolo does train to get stronger, his most significant power increases has always been because of shortcuts, such as Namekian fusion and a wish from the dragonballs, but I won't complain since Piccolo finally gets his own transformation.

You cannot blame him, the only time he gets those shortcuts or what I would say "blessings" is when he had to protect his friends and when the Earth was in great tremendous danger, like in planet Namek against Frieza, when he fused with a namekian named Nail, against the Androids and then later Cell, fusing with Kami, and now finally after all these years, his full potential powers unlocked from the Dragon balls, because it is really one of its most greatest gifts to earth, and desperate times calls for desperate measures. Might as well make that wish then see the world ruled by the iron fist of the Red Ribbon Army.

I get a little annoyed with people calling this form a "shortcut" or "unearned". We literally see in this movie that Piccolo is spending all of his free time (when not being a dope uncle to pan) training. Still training, still encouraging Gohan to train. What exactly do people mean by earning a transformation? Having a rage moment? Why is getting a free transformation when rage moment just because you're born a Saiyan "earned" but this is not? Piccolo has more than put in the work to be this powerful, and if he were a Saiyan he would have been already. And now we find out his race does in fact have a culturally relevant method to bridge that gap and its not "earned" enough? That's nonsense. The dragon balls are Namekian in origin. Kami designed shenron and dendei continues to maintain them. Piccolo getting a power boost from something derived from his own origin and powers is ENTIRELY VALID. Way way more so than Gohan studying bugs or whatever for his entire adult life and then getting an equivalent power boost because he got mad for ten seconds.

Piccolo with his Potential Unleashed (Ultimate Piccolo) has black nails, while his Base form has white. His nails stay black in Orange Piccolo as well as his Antennas facing upward. Besides him losing the many ridges in his arms, those are some really cool micro changes in his transformations. Like the color of the eyes in certain Super Saiyan forms.

I don’t think Piccolo would just wish to be stronger for the hell of it. Goku and vegeta were off world at the time and he knew the looming threat of cell and androids would be too much for his current power. He made the choice and it worked out in the end.

Some folks have wondered how Piccolo became so instantly strong after getting his potential unlocked by Shenron compared to characters like Gohan and Krillin when they got their potentials unlocked by Guru. I think the answer to this is twofold. For starters, as a wish dragon with full access to the Namekian Book of Legends, Shenron is likely way better at unlocking one's potential. Aside from that, let's look at Piccolo's growth prior to unlocking his potential. Not only did Piccolo gain tremendous power from training, but also from fusing with Nail to become an emboldened warrior AND Kami to become his old self again. Think of all of this as Piccolo stacking his hidden potential like crazy, but never having an ability to unleash it until the latest film because he lacked the means to fully transform like a Saiyan. He was basically saving up his potential unintentionally, building up the hidden reserves of strength that needed a specific unlocking method to release.

As far as I know, the official name of Piccolos more yellow form aka the first new form he gets in the movie, is called Power Awakening. Which makes sense because it isn’t the same thing that Gohan got in the Buu saga, but it is immensely similar. Dragon Ball legends just released a few new cards from the movie a little while back and that’s what they called it there, and the other DB mobile game is how we got the official name for Blue Evolution Vegeta as well. So I think as of right now, Power Awakened or Awakening is the official translated form name. This was a little too lengthy for my liking but I think all of it is necessary.

I wonder if Orange Piccolo is what a Super Namekian truly looks like. It would be kinda similar to how Vegeta kept assuming he and Goku were super saiyan simply because they got stronger, until they finally saw what a super Saiyan truly looked like when Goku unlocked the form. Honestly of all the new transformations I feel like Piccolos is a good one. My evidence for that is that Shenron, originally created by Kami, gave the power to Piccolo so it feels like a nod or recognition of his former station. The dragon gods and dragonballs are intrinsic to namekians; out of all the folks who wished to gain power Piccolo feels like the only one who deserves it.

It could be the Nameless Namekian was a Orenge Namekian, but the technique to transforming was lost when he split into piccolo and kami. Piccolo not gaining the power himself could be down to his beimg on earth, with its fewer suns it would be a less optimal enviroment for a namkeian to gain strength.

Tbh I never cared about gohans form in this movie I liked piccolos form way better when I think of this movie I think of orange piccolo instantly and not Gohan just because piccolo never had a form that really changed his appearance like this one to me this is more iconic than beast Gohan .I can't wait to use piccolos new form in the new upcoming Dragonball games in the future tho and I would also like geekdom to go more in depth with the namekians lore even if he did ones years ago please just update it and add the new lore to it

The only forms piccolo has are Piccolo Super nakian, piccolo ultimate nakian, prideful super orange piccolo

Piccolo getting god powers makes more sense than anybody else after watching this. He had the first connection to a God from the very beginning. Make Gohan beast form exclusive to half breeds and I’ll respect the form

Personally I am hoping Beast is exclusive to Gyuumao's lineage. Probably somewhat different to the members of it without Saiyan blood.

Orange Piccolo is blatantly the Super Saiyan equivalent. He's orange, his antennae are standing on end, and his eyes are red like the original designs of Super Saiyan. Also, Gohan was talking about finding bugs that could effectively achieve a similar transformation, which suggests it's likely possible for many species to achieve it just under different circumstances. I wouldn't be surprised if we see the humans achieve something like this, which builds on Gohan's recent research to become his later teachings of ki to the general public mentioned in some of the extended media.

Also, Piccolo can willingly transform into that form while we dont know if Gohan can do the same with beast. So presumably, outside of Goku, Vegeta, and Broly, cuz we dont know their new powers compared to Orange Piccolo and Beast Gohan...that Piccolo is now the strongest fighter. Only if Gohan cant tap willingly in Beast or what Goku, Vegeta, and Broly are compared.

I was wishing that story part of Supersonic Warrior (A old DBZ GBA game) became canon. Piccolo in order to become more powerful, the actual original namekian who came to earth, had to revive King Piccolo and then fuse to get enough power to defeat Super Buu, and always though that part was amazing.
