Hi Dave, just wanted to thank you for continuing to do what you do. You really do change lives with your content. I've lived with chronic depression since I was 13. Yesterday I got a call saying that I'm being laid off at work, and I'm losing my health insureance. This is happening while I'm trying to put myself through grad school. I lost it. It felt like my brian literally shut off my ability to feel anything. I rewatched your older videos from Mental Health awareness week where you shared your story, and I honestly believe they're why I woke up this morning. Thank you. PS: I know that was probably a little heavy for the comments on an amp demo, but I posted here on the off chance you'd actually see it.

I compared both of these amp heads over the last two weeks and can recommend both. Though I decided to stick to my CR120 H. Oh the irony is that I always wished the CR would have a bit more brightness and be more in the foreground. The Super Crush is that indeed and it is a great amp! But when I had both amps side by side I learned (again) what it means to be "at home" at a specific amp, at a specific tone. I am so used to my CR120's dark sound. To me personally it has more of that Orange growl to it, a character of its own if you will, a bit more obstinate maybe, while new SC100 seems to be more oriented towards Marshall flavour. Just my 2 cents.

Marshal flavour!? 🤔. It’s voiced to sound like the Rockerverb. (Same as the Crush Pro) Essentially tone hasn’t change, other than it’s closer to the “Valve Rockerverb”. The Cush Pro lacked clarity within it’s gain stages, because op amps are muddier sounding and don’t interact like valves do. JFET’s do interact much like valve do, just in a solid state format. So with the Super Crush you just have a update/improved version. Still has the Crush Pro tone, just much clearer and valve like because of the JFET’s. Then you have the “Orange Pedal Baby” power amp built inside for the power section. Which should be much better if your into using the fox return as a slave to another preamp, or a digital amp modeller. It also has improved headroom for using it as a pedal platform. So I’d say “better all round!”
@milesskoog76752 жыл бұрын
@@ballsofdoom3124 Also have both. CR120 is definitely a tad louder. CR 120 comes in around 84 watts into 16 ohms and 120 into 8 ohms. Super crush is about 70 watts into 16 ohms.
@milesskoog76752 жыл бұрын
That's funny. Exact same experience here. Own 2 CR120 heads, a CR60 combo, and now added a super crush 100 head. Exact same findings. Super crush isn't quite as loud, is definitely voiced to have a more robust upper mid sound. I found myself liking both the CR and SC, but still feel at home with the CR 120. Keeping both, but the super crush is the backup.

First impressions: I will give credit where credit is due and say that the clean sound is superior in the Super. It really does seem like they have significantly improved the reverb, which justifies removing the switchable options. I’m a dirty player 99% of the time and I can’t conceivable justify swapping my CR60c for the new dirt channel. Coming back to this video after awhile. I couldn’t get what you said about wishing the amp had 2 dirty channels out of my head. So I sat down with my cr60 and played with the knobs for a bit and was able to find a really nice clean tone by using high volume and low gain on the dirty channel. I still think the clean channel still serves a purpose, but it’s more for warm jazzy clean tones. To get a more rock/blues clean tone with some chime to it, you gotta use the dirty channel. I’m still discovering all this amp can do after owning it for nearly 4 years.

I sold my first cr when the rocker terror came out to fund it and found a good deal on market place trading my micro terror for another cr and remembered how much I loved it. Maybe in the future, I'll get the sc100 too for the double win. Also, it seems like the cr120 production has stopped (or, at least, I don't see it being listed anymore, being replaced with the sc100 instead) which, in a way, makes me love it even more because it's a collectible now. Similarly, I've also gotten my Fender Mustang III v2 just before it got replaced with the first Mustang GT series. Once again, great video Dave!

I think alot of people got into Orange because of the Crush series. Me myself I have a 35RT and absolutely love it. I play psych rock and blues, and am not necessary going for that stoner heavy tone, so the Super Crush 100 is exactly what I wanted as an upgrade from a 35RT. The Crush is just such a good amp at the price point that all sorts of people are using them, so I think it's really awesome they went in a more versatile brighter direction for the Super Crush 100 because that is what someone like me wants! I probably would've gone with the Fender Tone Master had the Super Crush 100 not been released. I love Orange!

I had already pre-ordered the SC100 before watching your video. I had the CR120 for a few years and it was an awesome amp. The CR was a little tricky for me to get just the tone I wanted on the dirty channel. A little too much gain and it would seem to “wash out” into a fizzy roar with no definition, mostly with humbuckers….not so much with single coils. I’m hoping the new SC will be a little easier to dial in with it’s clarity advantage. I loved my old CR and I’m sure I’ll love the new SC just as much, if not more. Thanks Dave for another awesome video! Keep them coming.

I like the super Crush 100 better I just ordered mine I can't wait to get it there both great Amps but I like the SC100 better and it weighs less then the Cr120 the SC100 weighs like 47 pounds I am 61 and I own a Mesa Boogie Mark 2 B and I just can't lift it anymore and that's with out the EV speaker. I think I'm going to be Happy with my new OCS100 I ordered it in black but the more I watch these videos the Orange 🍊 is starting to grow on me I use a Boss ME-80 I wish they would do a new video with The Orange Crush Super 100 and a Boss ME-80 pedalboard.

Hi Dave, to My ear, the new Amp seems to be set unequal to the old Amp,reverb wise
@sid35gb3 жыл бұрын
The reverb is different the super crush it has just one option vs plate, spring and hall options on the Cr 120.

Dave if you turn up the reverb to 6 and the other one on 4. I think it will be a better tone, equal

Hmmm. Pretty hard. I always kinda disliked my dark Cr120 for the dark, "muddy" tone. But now I love it. Maybe because I got better playing at playing guitar ^^. Maybe I'll get the other one in a few years, too. But before that my Thomann 1x12 cab will have to be replaced by an orange cab. For the original Orange sound. It is as you say: Clean -> Super Crush Dirty -> Cr120H

Thank you for this video totally agree that the queen channel on the SC needs a gain ch. I just got that sc100 combo... And I'm really bummed out with it's so far but I've only had it for a day... I've heard some people online saying they take some time to break in...? I remember on the crush 120 Tambo you could keep the master kind of low on the clean channel and turn the volume way up and you could get that light od sound. ..

Lol * totally agree regarding the clean channel needing a gain knob

Stupid phone ( crush 120 combo IMHO had better range with clean channel)

Hi Dave! I thought the supercrush sounded slightly clearer & if I had to choose one it would be the supercrush for that reason but I think both of them are awesome amps.

Hi Dave! Hope all is well. I recently purchased the SC100 and decided to compare it with my CR120. Upon a few playing tests I start to think the head might be faulty. Maybe you can cast light on my ignorance 🙂. Upon testing one against the other what I noticed is that there's a significant difference in volume. Running both heads through a 4x12 16ohm cab, the CR120 can make the walls shake at half volume already whilst the SC100 maxed out still sounds quiet, at bedroom level. Would that be alright? Also, through the dirty channel, the CR120 sounds more "metal" for the lack of a better term whilst the SC100 sounds more "Zeppelin" at the same settings. Again, is that to be expected? Thanks Vinny

Sadly that is right. The amps very quiet. I’m not sure exactly why but the car beats it in volume significantly.

Clean on the super crush👍 But a little transistor sounding on distortion were as the cr was outstanding on distortion but like you say,the DNA is very apparent 👍

I prefer the clean sound of the super crush 100 but playing dirty I’d prefer the cr120 because like you said the cr is darker. I think splitting guitar signal into both amps for stereo would sound amazing (please make a vid of it) Regardless I’m getting the super crush, just so I can follow your tone like when I bought the cr120. Great vid looking forward to more jam music.
