Hey Dani, Love your Channel & videos! When I first became serious about Orchid growing about a year ago, I searched through many videos on you youtube, to find you, who I consider my Orchid "Guru". You have an amazing way of enlightening your viewers, while making it fun to learn about our hobby/obsession. With the help of your tutorials, I have had great success with my collection. Thanks you so much for your enthusiasm & well thought out and educational videos, as well as your humor & humanity! By the way, I am totally smitten with #6 on this list. (Cattleya NoID Purple) do you, or anyone else have any more info on this orchid? Thanks so much!!

my zygos give me no headaches, and i love that they bloom on immature growths. Have you thought about getting a Laelia anceps? Theyre supposed to be heat and cold tolerant, and I'm in love with the long spikes; I just bought a seedling and im planning to grow it outside here in socal.

happy new year Danny! I had a question about orchids - ive watched through several of your videos and maybe i missed it but i couldnt find this specific thing mentioned... i have a nice healthy orchid, good roots, but i have one root the is partially green but about an inch down from the stem to the root it is damaged, looks almost cut and split open and the surrounding tissue is brownish. the root is still firm and green the rest of the way down. id say the "cut" is about half an inch vertically down the root. should i cut the entire root or let it heal? ive left it for now...

Hi Danni! I actually have a question today. I repotted my orchids today (using your method with the sphagnum moss and bark chips) but I ran into an issue when I was trimming the roots. One of my orchids had some root rotting and I determined that by squishing the root to see if it was mushy. If it was mushy, I cut it off but then I ran into a root that was mushy at the very base of the plant, but then plump and green/ healthy looking after the mushiness. At the base (where the root began from the plant) the root was mushy and the outter skin was off, only showing the thin wire underneath. But what was confusing was that after the mushy part (and wire showing), it looked healthy, green, and not mushy at all. Should I have cut the root off or kept it if it's mushy and damaged at the base of the plant where the root begins. I really hope that all makes sense...lol. Be well my friend.

Hi, I personally cut those roots if the orchid has a decent root system. Roots of Phalaenopsis can live and function with parts of their velamen missing. Sometimes they can last for many years. But since part of the velamen is very affected, there is a chance that whatever affects it is a pathogen and can spread to the healthy segments, causing decay in the medium. So that's why I do remove them, but if the orchid has a poor root system, I leave them on in case they will survive and help with recovery :)

@@MissOrchidGirl Thanks so much D, for the awesome info! Very helpful and I feel better that I didnt "murder" my orchid by cutting those parts of the roots off (the root system was a monster so i think it will be just fine) 😂🤪. Your videos have got me HOOKED on orchids and thank you again for taking the time to help us.👍🏼 Happy New Year and always looking forward to the next upload (Its awesome how long they are....!). :) Be well D!

MOG, how do you spell your name? I've seen it spelled Danny, Danni and Dani. If I say your name I want to spell it correctly. Thank you for all your videos, so helpful. One of the recent phals that I just got has some dead roots coming out of the holes in the bottom of the pot. The lowest leaves are turning yellow and brown and it's streaking towards the base of the plant. I've put off repotting because she's in bloom. What should I do. Does my phals have a virus?
